KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.	1 Tout le peuple de Juda choisit Ozias, qui avait seize ans, et le fit roi à la place de son pèreAmasias.
2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.	2 C'est lui qui rebâtit Elat et la rendit à Juda, après que le roi se fut couché avec ses pères.
3 Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.	3 Ozias avait seize ans à son avènement et il régna 52 ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitYekolyahu et était de Jérusalem.
4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.	4 Il fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, comme tout ce qu'avait fait son père Amasias;
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.	5 il s'appliqua à rechercher Dieu tant que vécut Zekaryahu, celui qui l'instruisait dans la craintede Dieu. Tant qu'il chercha Yahvé, celui-ci le fit réussir.
6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.	6 Il partit combattre les Philistins, démantela les murailles de Gat, celles de Yabné etd'Ashdod, puis restaura des villes dans la région d'Ashdod et chez les Philistins.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.	7 Dieu l'aida contre les Philistins, les Arabes, les habitants de Gur-Baal et les Méûnites.
8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.	8 Les Ammonites payèrent tribut à Ozias. Sa renommée s'étendit jusqu'au seuil de l'Egypte, caril était devenu extrêmement puissant.
9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.	9 Ozias construisit des tours à Jérusalem, à la porte de l'Angle, à la porte de la Vallée, àl'Encoignure, et il les fortifia.
10 Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.	10 Il construisit aussi des tours dans le désert et creusa de nombreuses citernes, car il disposaitd'un cheptel abondant dans le Bas-Pays et sur le Plateau, de laboureurs et de vignerons dans les montagnes et lesvergers; il avait en effet le goût de l'agriculture.
11 Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.	11 Ozias eut une armée entraînée, prête à entrer en campagne, répartie en groupes recenséssous la surveillance du scribe Yeïel et du greffier Maaséyahu; elle était sous les ordres de Hananyahu, l'un desofficiers royaux.
12 The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.	12 Le nombre total des chefs de famille de ces preux vaillants était de 2.600.
13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.	13 Ils avaient sous leurs ordres l'armée de campagne, soit 307.500 guerriers, d'une grandevaleur militaire pour prêter main-forte au roi contre l'ennemi.
14 And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.	14 A chaque campagne Ozias leur distribuait boucliers, lances, casques, cuirasses, arcs etpierres de fronde.
15 And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.	15 Il fit faire à Jérusalem des engins inventés par les ingénieurs, à placer sur les tours et lessaillants pour lancer des flèches et de grosses pierres. Son renom s'étendit au loin, et il dut sa puissance à unsecours vraiment miraculeux.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.	16 Quand il fut devenu puissant, son coeur s'enorgueillit jusqu'à le perdre: il prévariqua enversYahvé son Dieu. Il vint dans la grande salle du Temple de Yahvé pour faire l'encensement sur l'autel desparfums.
17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:	17 Le prêtre Azaryahu, ainsi que 80 vertueux prêtres de Yahvé, vinrent
18 And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.	18 s'opposer au roi Ozias et lui dirent: "Ce n'est pas à toi, Ozias, d'encenser Yahvé, mais auxprêtres descendants d'Aaron consacrés à cet effet. Quitte le sanctuaire, car tu as prévariqué et tu n'as plus droit àla gloire qui vient de Yahvé Dieu."
19 Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.	19 Ozias, tenant dans ses mains l'encensoir à parfum, s'emporta. Mais alors qu'il s'emportaitcontre les prêtres, la lèpre bourgeonna sur son front, en présence des prêtres, dans le Temple de Yahvé, près del'autel des parfums!
20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.	20 Azaryahu, premier prêtre, et tous les prêtres se tournèrent vers lui et lui virent la lèpre aufront. Ils l'expulsèrent en hâte et il se hâta lui-même de sortir, car Yahvé l'avait frappé.
21 And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.	21 Le roi Ozias fut affligé de la lèpre jusqu'au jour de sa mort. Il demeura confiné à lachambre, lépreux, vraiment exclu du Temple de Yahvé. Son fils Yotam était maître du palais et administrait lepeuple du pays.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.	22 Le reste de l'histoire d'Ozias, du début à la fin, a été écrit par le prophète Isaïe, fils d'Amoç.
23 So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.	23 Puis Ozias se coucha avec ses pères et on l'enterra avec eux dans le terrain des sépulturesroyales, car on disait: "C'est un lépreux." Son fils Yotam devint roi à sa place.
