1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.	1 Eliseo, rivoltosi alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio, le disse: « Levati e vattene colla tua famiglia a stare dovunque troverai, perchè il Signore ha chiamata la fame, ed essa verrà sulla terra per sette anni ».
2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.	2 La donna si mosse, e, facendo secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andò colla sua famiglia a stare per molto tempo nella terra dei Filistei.
3 And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.	3 Finiti i sette anni, la donna tornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò dal re a reclamare la sua casa e le sue terre.
4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.	4 In quel momento il re parlava con Giezi servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: « Raccontami tutte le maraviglie che ha fatte Eliseo ».
5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.	5 Proprio mentre Giezi raccontava al re la risurrezione d'un morto, comparve, a reclamare la sua casa e le sue terre, la donna, il figlio della quale era stato risuscitato. Giezi disse: « Questa, o re mio signore, è quella donna, e questo il figlio risuscitato da Eliseo ».
6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.	6 Il re interrogò la donna, che ne fece il racconto. Poi il re le diede un eunuco, dicendo: « Restituiscile tutto il suo e tutte le entrate delle terre dal giorno in cui lasciò il paese fino ad oggi ».
7 And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.	7 Eliseo andò a Damasco. Benadad re della Siria, che era malato, ne fu informato con queste parole: « E' venuto qua l'uomo di Dio ».
8 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?	8 Allora il re disse ad Azael: « Presi teco dei regali, va a trovare l'uomo di Dio, consulta per mezzo di lui il Signore, e domandagli se potrò uscir da questa malattia ».
9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels' burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?	9 Azael andò a trovarlo, e, presi seco dei regali e tutto ciò che c'era di buono a Damasco, ne caricò quaranta cammelli, andò a presentarsi a lui e gli disse: « Il tuo figlio Benadad re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per dirti: Potrò guarire da questa malattia? »
10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.	10 Eliseo gli disse: « Va e digli: Tu guarirai. Ma il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che senza dubbio morrà ».
11 And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.	11 Fermatosi con lui, l'uomo di Dio si conturbò fino a diventar tutto rosso in viso, e pianse.
12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.	12 Azael gli disse: « Per qual motivo piange il mio signore? » Eliseo rispose: « Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele. Tu darai alle fiamme le loro città fortificate, ucciderai di spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro pargoletti e sventrerai le incinte ».
13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.	13 Azael disse: « E chi sono io tuo servo, un cane, per fare questa gran cosa? » Eliseo a lui: « Il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che tu sarai re della Siria ».
14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.	14 Azael, partitosi da Eliseo, tornò al suo signore, il quale gli disse: « Che ti ha detto Eliseo? » Azael rispose: « M'ha detto che ricupererai la salute ».
15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.	15 Ma il giorno dopo Azael, presa una coperta e inzuppatala d 'acqua, la distese sulla faccia del re, che morì. Così Azael regnò in suo luogo.
16 And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.	16 L'anno quinto di Ioram figlio di Acab re d'Israele, essendo Giosafat re di Giuda, Ioram, figlio di Giosafat re di Giuda, regnò sopra Giuda.
17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Egli aveva trentadue anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò otto anni in Gerusalemme.
18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.	18 Camminò nelle vie dei re d'Israele, come la casa di Acab, avendo per moglie la figlia di Acab; e fece ciò che è ma le nel cospetto del Signore.
19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant's sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.	19 Ma il Signore non volle sterminar Giuda, per amor di David suo servo, avendogli promesso di dare a lui e ai suoi figli una lampada per sempre.
20 In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.	20 Ai tempi di Ioram, Edom si ribellò per non star più sotto Giuda e si elesse un re;
21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.	21 ma Ioram andò a Seira con tutti i suoi carri e, fatta irruzione di notte, percosse gl'Idumei che l'avevan circondato e i comandanti dei loro carri in modo che il popolo fuggi alle sue tende.
22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.	22 Ma Edom allora si ribellò in maniera da non star più sotto Giuda fino al presente. In quello stesso tempo si ribellò anche Lobna.
23 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?	23 Il resto degli atti di Ioram, tutto quello ch'egli fece, non son tutte queste cose scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re di Giuda?
24 And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.	24 Ioram si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di David, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Ocozia.
25 In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.	25 L'anno duodecimo di Ioram, figlio di Acab re d'Israele, regnò Ocozia, figlio di Ioram re di Giuda.
26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Ocozia aveva ventidue anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò un anno in Gerusalemme: sua madre era Atalia, figlia di Amri re d'Israele.
27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.	27 Egli camminò nelle vie della casa di Acab, fece ciò che è male nel cospetto del Signore, come la casa d'Acab, essendo genero della casa d'Acab. s
28 And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.	28 Egli andò inoltre con Ioram, figlio di Acab, a combattere contro Azael, re di Siria, a Ramot Galaad. I Siri ferirono Ioram,
29 And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.	29 il quale tornò a Iezrael per curarsi avendolo i Siri ferito a Ramot, mentre combatteva contro Azael re di Siria. Ocozia, figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda, andò a visitare Ioram figlio di Acab a Iezrael, ov'era ammalato.
