KING JAMES BIBLEVULGATA
And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;1 Recordatus autem Deus Noë, cunctorumque animantium, et omnium jumentorum, quæ erant cum eo in arca, adduxit spiritum super terram, et imminutæ sunt aquæ.
The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;2 Et clausi sunt fontes abyssi, et cataractæ cæli : et prohibitæ sunt pluviæ de cælo.
And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.3 Reversæque sunt aquæ de terra euntes et redeuntes : et c?perunt minui post centum quinquaginta dies.
And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.4 Requievitque arca mense septimo, vigesimo septimo die mensis, super montes Armeniæ.
And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.5 At vero aquæ ibant et decrescebant usque ad decimum mensem : decimo enim mense, primo die mensis, apparuerunt cacumina montium.
And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:6 Cumque transissent quadraginta dies, aperiens Noë fenestram arcæ, quam fecerat, dimisit corvum,
And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.7 qui egrediebatur, et non revertebatur, donec siccarentur aquæ super terram.
Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;8 Emisit quoque columbam post eum, ut videret si jam cessassent aquæ super faciem terræ.
But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.9 Quæ cum non invenisset ubi requiesceret pes ejus, reversa est ad eum in arcam : aquæ enim erant super universam terram : extenditque manum, et apprehensam intulit in arcam.
And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;10 Expectatis autem ultra septem diebus aliis, rursum dimisit columbam ex arca.
And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.11 At illa venit ad eum ad vesperam, portans ramum olivæ virentibus foliis in ore suo : intellexit ergo Noë quod cessassent aquæ super terram.
And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.12 Expectavitque nihilominus septem alios dies : et emisit columbam, quæ non est reversa ultra ad eum.
And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.13 Igitur sexcentesimo primo anno, primo mense, prima die mensis, imminutæ sunt aquæ super terram : et aperiens Noë tectum arcæ, aspexit, viditque quod exsiccata esset superficies terræ.
And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.14 Mense secundo, septimo et vigesimo die mensis arefacta est terra.
And God spake unto Noah, saying,15 Locutus est autem Deus ad Noë, dicens :
Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.16 Egredere de arca, tu et uxor tua, filii tui et uxores filiorum tuorum tecum.
Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.17 Cuncta animantia, quæ sunt apud te, ex omni carne, tam in volatilibus quam in bestiis et universis reptilibus, quæ reptant super terram, educ tecum, et ingredimini super terram : crescite et multiplicamini super eam.
And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:18 Egressus est ergo Noë, et filii ejus : uxor illius, et uxores filiorum ejus cum eo.
Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.19 Sed et omnia animantia, jumenta, et reptilia quæ reptant super terram, secundum genus suum, egressa sunt de arca.
And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.20 Ædificavit autem Noë altare Domino : et tollens de cunctis pecoribus et volucribus mundis, obtulit holocausta super altare.
And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.21 Odoratusque est Dominus odorem suavitatis, et ait : Nequaquam ultra maledicam terræ propter homines : sensus enim et cogitatio humani cordis in malum prona sunt ab adolescentia sua : non igitur ultra percutiam omnem animam viventem sicut feci.
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.22 Cunctis diebus terræ, sementis et messis, frigus et æstus, æstas et hiems, nox et dies non requiescent.
