GREEK BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Και ο πεμπτος αγγελος εσαλπισε? και ειδον οτι επεσεν εις την γην αστηρ εκ του ουρανου, και εδοθη εις αυτον το κλειδιον του φρεατος της αβυσσου.1 And the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven upon the earth, and there was given to him the key of the bottomless pit.
Και ηνοιξε το φρεαρ της αβυσσου, και ανεβη καπνος εκ του φρεατος ως καπνος καμινου μεγαλης, και εσκοτισθη ο ηλιος και ο αηρ εκ του καπνου του φρεατος.2 And he opened the bottomless pit: and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit.
Και εκ του καπνου εξηλθον ακριδες εις την γην, και εδοθη εις αυτας εξουσια ως εχουσιν εξουσιαν οι σκορπιοι της γης?3 And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. And power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power:
και ερρεθη προς αυτας να μη βλαψωσι τον χορτον της γης μηδε κανεν χλωρον μηδε κανεν δενδρον, ειμη τους ανθρωπους μονους, οιτινες δεν εχουσι την σφραγιδα του Θεου επι των μετωπων αυτων.4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree: but only the men who have not the sign of God on their foreheads.
Και εδοθη εις αυτας να μη θανατωσωσιν αυτους, αλλα να βασανισθωσι πεντε μηνας? και ο βασανισμος αυτων ητο ως βασανισμος σκορπιου, οταν κτυπηση ανθρωπον.5 And it was given unto them that they should not kill them; but that they should torment them five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man.
Και εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις θελουσι ζητησει οι ανθρωποι τον θανατον και δεν θελουσιν ευρει αυτον, και θελουσιν επιθυμησει να αποθανωσι, και ο θανατος θελει φυγει απ' αυτων.6 And in those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall fly from them.
Και αι μορφαι των ακριδων ησαν ομοιαι με ιππους ητοιμασμενους εις πολεμον, και επι τας κεφαλας αυτων ησαν ως στεφανοι ομοιοι με χρυσον, και τα προσωπα αυτων ως προσωπα ανθρωπων.7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle: and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men.
Και ειχον τριχας ως τριχας γυναικων, και οι οδοντες αυτων ησαν ως λεοντων,8 And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as lions:
και ειχον θωρακας ως θωρακας σιδηρους, και η φωνη των πτερυγων αυτων ητο ως φωνη αμαξων ιππων πολλων τρεχοντων εις πολεμον.9 And they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was as the noise of chariots and many horses running to battle.
Και ειχον ουρας ομοιας με σκορπιους και ησαν κεντρα εις τας ουρας αυτων, και η εξουσια αυτων ητο να βλαψωσι τους ανθρωπους πεντε μηνας.10 And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had over them
Και ειχον εφ' εαυτων βασιλεα τον αγγελον της αβυσσου, οστις Εβραιστι ονομαζεται Αβαδδων, και εις την Ελληνικην εχει ονομα Απολλυων.11 A king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon; in Latin Exterminans,
Η ουαι η μια απηλθεν? ιδου, ερχονται ετι δυο ουαι μετα ταυτα.12 One woe is past, and behold there come yet two woes more hereafter.
Και ο εκτος αγγελος εσαλπισε? και ηκουσα μιαν φωνην εκ των τεσσαρων κερατων του θυσιαστηριου του χρυσου του ενωπιον του Θεου,13 And the sixth angel sounded the trumpet: and I heard a voice from the four horns of the great altar, which is before the eyes of God,
λεγουσαν προς τον εκτον αγγελον, οστις ειχε την σαλπιγγα? Λυσον τους τεσσαρας αγγελους τους δεδεμενους εις τον μεγαν ποταμον Ευφρατην.14 Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet: Loose the four angels, who are bound in the great river Euphrates.
Και ελυθησαν οι τεσσαρες αγγελοι, οι ητοιμασμενοι εις την ωραν και ημεραν και μηνα και ενιαυτον, δια να θανατωσωσι το τριτον των ανθρωπων.15 And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year: for to kill the third part of men.
Και ο αριθμος των στρατευματων του ιππικου ητο δυο μυριαδες μυριαδων? και ηκουσα τον αριθμον αυτων.16 And the number of the army of horsemen was twenty thousand times ten thousand. And I heard the number of them.
Και ουτως ειδον τους ιππους εν τη ορασει και τους καθημενους επ' αυτων, οτι ειχον θωρακας πυρινους και υακινθινους και θειωδεις? και αι κεφαλαι των ιππων ησαν ως κεφαλαι λεοντων, και εκ των στοματων αυτων εξηρχετο πυρ και καπνος και θειον.17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision: and they that sat on them, had breastplates of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions: and from their mouths proceeded fire, and smoke, and brimstone.
υπο των τριων τουτων εθανατωθησαν το τριτον των ανθρωπων? εκ του πυρος και εκ του καπνου και εκ του θειου του εξερχομενου εκ των στοματων αυτων.18 And by these three plagues was slain the third part of men, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Διοτι αι εξουσιαι αυτων ειναι εν τω στοματι αυτων, επειδη αι ουραι αυτων ειναι ομοιαι με οφεις, εχουσαι κεφαλας, και με αυτας βλαπτουσι.19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For, their tails are like to serpents, and have heads: and with them they hurt.
Και οι λοιποι των ανθρωπων, οιτινες δεν εθανατωθησαν με τας πληγας ταυτας, ουτε μετενοησαν απο των εργων των χειρων αυτων, ωστε να μη προσκυνησωσι τα δαιμονια και τα ειδωλα τα χρυσα και τα αργυρα και τα χαλκινα και τα λιθινα και τα ξυλινα, τα οποια ουτε να βλεπωσι δυνανται ουτε να ακουωσιν ουτε να περιπατωσι,20 And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
και δεν μετενοησαν εκ των φονων αυτων ουτε εκ των φαρμακειων αυτων ουτε εκ της πορνειας αυτων ουτε εκ των κλοπων αυτων.21 Neither did they penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.
