1 David besprach sich mit den Obersten der Tausend- und Hundertschaften und mit allen führenden Leuten.	1 Then David took counsel with the tribunes, and the centurions, and all the leaders.
2 Dann sagte er zur ganzen Versammlung Israels: Wenn ihr einverstanden seid und wenn es dem Herrn, unserem Gott, gefällt, schicken wir überallhin Boten zu unseren Brüdern, die in allen Gegenden Israels geblieben sind, sowie zu den Priestern und Leviten, die in ihren Städten und auf ihren Weideflächen wohnen. Sie sollen sich bei uns versammeln	2 And he said to the entire assembly of Israel: “If it pleases you, and if the words that I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the remainder of our brothers, in all the regions of Israel, and to the priests and Levites who live in the suburbs of the cities, so that they may gather to us.
3 und wir wollen die Lade unseres Gottes zu uns heraufholen; denn in den Tagen Sauls haben wir uns nicht um sie gekümmert.	3 And let us bring back the ark of our God to us. For we did not seek it during the days of Saul.”
4 Die ganze Versammlung stimmte dem Vorhaben zu, denn der Plan gefiel dem ganzen Volk.	4 And the entire multitude responded that it should be done. For the word had pleased all the people.
5 David versammelte nun ganz Israel vom Schihor in Ägypten bis Lebo-Hamat, um die Lade Gottes von Kirjat-Jearim heraufzuholen.	5 Therefore, David gathered all of Israel, from Shihor of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, so as to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6 Er zog mit ganz Israel nach Baala bei Kirjat-Jearim, das zu Juda gehörte, um von dort die Lade Gottes heraufzuholen, über der der Name des Herrn, der über den Kerubim thront, ausgerufen worden ist.	6 And David ascended with all the men of Israel to the hill of Kiriath-jearim, which is in Judah, so that he might bring from there the ark of the Lord God, sitting upon the Cherubim, where his name is invoked.
7 Sie holten die Lade Gottes auf einem neuen Wagen vom Haus Abinadabs ab; Usa und Achjo lenkten den Wagen.	7 And they placed the ark of God upon a new cart from the house of Abinadab. Then Uzzah and his brother drove the cart.
8 David und ganz Israel tanzten und sangen vor Gott mit ganzer Hingabe und spielten auf Zithern, Harfen und Pauken, mit Zimbeln und Trompeten.	8 Now David and all of Israel were playing before God, with all of their ability, in songs, and with harps, and psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets.
9 Als sie zur Tenne Kidons kamen, brachen die Rinder aus und Usa streckte seine Hand aus, um die Lade festzuhalten.	9 And when they had arrived at the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out his hand, so that he might support the ark. For indeed, the ox being wanton had caused it to incline a little.
10 Da entbrannte der Zorn des Herrn gegen Usa und er erschlug ihn, weil er seine Hand nach der Lade ausgestreckt hatte, sodass er dort vor Gott starb.	10 And so the Lord became angry against Uzzah. And he struck him down because he had touched the ark. And he died there before the Lord.
11 David war sehr erregt darüber, dass der Herr den Usa so plötzlich dahingerafft hatte, und man nennt den Ort bis heute darum Perez-Usa (Wegraffung Usas).	11 And David was greatly saddened because the Lord had divided Uzzah. And he called that place ‘the Division of Uzzah,’ even to the present day.
12 An jenem Tag bekam David Angst vor Gott, sodass er sagte: Wie soll ich die Lade Gottes zu mir bringen?	12 And then he feared God, at that time, saying: “How will I be able to bring in the ark of God to myself?”
13 Er ließ sie darum nicht zu sich in die Davidstadt bringen, sondern stellte sie in das Haus Obed-Edoms aus Gat.	13 And for this reason, he did not bring it to himself, that is, into the City of David. Instead, he turned aside to the house of Obededom, the Gittite.
14 Drei Monate lang blieb die Lade Gottes im Haus Obed-Edoms und der Herr segnete das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was ihm gehörte.	14 Therefore, the ark of God dwelt in the house of Obededom for three months. And the Lord blessed his house and all that he had.
