1 Now all the troops of the Philistines were gathered together to Aphec: and Israel also camped by the fountain which is in Jezrahel.	1 Les Philistins concentrèrent toutes leurs troupes à Apheq, tandis que les Israélites campaient à lasource qui est en Yizréel.
2 And the lords of the Philistines marched with their hundreds and their thousands: but David and his men were in the rear with Achis.	2 Les princes des Philistins défilaient par centuries et par milliers, et David et ses hommesdéfilaient les derniers avec Akish.
3 And the princes of the Philistines said to Achis: What mean these Hebrews? And Achis said to the princes of the Philistines: Do you not know David, who was the servant of Saul the king of Israel, and hath been with me many days, or years, and I have found no fault in him, since the day that he fled over to me until this day?	3 Les princes des Philistins demandèrent: "Qu'est-ce que ces Hébreux", et Akish répondit auxprinces des Philistins: "Mais c'est David, le serviteur de Saül; roi d'Israël! Voici un an ou deux qu'il est avec moiet je n'ai trouvé aucun reproche à lui faire depuis le jour qu'il s'est rendu à moi jusqu'à maintenant."
4 But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him, and they said to him: Let this man return, and abide in his place, which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest he be an adversary to us, when we shall begin to fight: for how can he otherwise appease his master, but with our heads?	4 Les princes des Philistins s'emportèrent contre lui et ils lui dirent: "Renvoie cet homme et qu'ilretourne au lieu que tu lui as assigné. Qu'il ne vienne pas en guerre avec nous et ne se retourne pas contre nousdans le combat! Comment celui-là achèterait-il la faveur de son maître, sinon avec la tête des hommes que voici?
5 Is not this David, to whom they sung in their dances, saying: Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?	5 N'est-il pas ce David, duquel on chantait dans les choeurs: "Saül à tué ses milliers et David sesmyriades?"
6 Then Achis called David, and said to him: As the Lord liveth, thou art upright and good in my sight: and so is thy going out, and thy coming in with me in the army: and I have not found my evil in thee, since the day that thou camest to me unto this day: but thou pleasest not the lords.	6 Akish appela donc David et lui dit: "Aussi vrai que Yahvé est vivant, tu es loyal et il me plairaitque tu sortes et rentres avec moi dans le camp, car je n'ai rien trouvé de mauvais en toi depuis le jour que tu esvenu chez moi jusqu'à maintenant. Mais tu n'es pas bien vu des princes.
7 Return therefore, and go in peace, and offend not the eyes of the princes of the Philistines.	7 Donc retourne et va-t'en en paix, pour ne pas indisposer les princes des Philistins."
8 And David said to Achis: But what have I done, and what hast thou found in me thy servant, from the day that I have been in thy sight until this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?	8 David dit à Akish: "Qu'ai-je donc fait et qu'as-tu à reprocher à ton serviteur depuis le jour où jesuis entré à ton service jusqu'à maintenant, pour que je ne puisse pas venir et combattre les ennemis deMonseigneur le roi?"
9 And Achis answering said to David: I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: but the princes of the Philistines have said: He shall not go up with us to the battle.	9 Akish répondit à David: "C'est vrai que tu m'es aussi agréable qu'un ange de Dieu, seulement lesprinces des Philistins ont dit: Il ne faut pas qu'il aille au combat avec nous.
10 Therefore arise in the morning, thou, and the servants of thy lord, who came with thee: and when you are up before day, and it shall begin to be light, go on your way.	10 Donc lève-toi de bon matin avec les serviteurs de ton maître qui sont venus avec toi, et allez àl'endroit que je vous ai assigné. Ne garde en ton coeur aucun ressentiment, car tu m'es agréable. Vous vouslèverez de grand matin et, dès qu'il fera jour, vous partirez."
11 So David and his men arose in the night, that they might set forward in the morning, and returned to the land of the Philistines: and the Philistines went up to Jezrahel.	11 David et ses hommes se levèrent de bonne heure pour partir dès le matin et retourner au paysphilistin. Quant aux Philistins, ils montèrent en Yizréel.
