Joshua 11

1 And when Jabin king of Asor had heard these things, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Semeron, and to the king of Achsaph:	1 Cuando Yabín, rey de Jasor, se enteró, mandó aviso a Yobab, rey de Merom, al rey de Simrón, al rey de Aksaf,
2 And to the kings of the north, that dwelt in the mountains and in the plains over against the south side of Ceneroth, and in the levels and the countries of Dor by the sea side :	2 y a los reyes de la parte norte de la montaña, del valle al sur de Kinerot, de la Tierra Baja y de las alturas del oeste de Dor.
3 To the Chanaanites also on the ease and on the west, and the Amorrhite, and the Hethite, and the Pherezite, and the Jebusite in the mountains: to the Hevite also who dwelt at the foot of Hermon in the land of Maspha.	3 El cananeo estaba al oriente y al occidente; el amorreo, el jivita, el perizita y el jebuseo en la montaña; el hitita en las faldas del Hermón, en el país de Mispá.
4 And they all came out with their troops, a people exceeding numerous as the sand that is on the sea shore, their horses also and chariots a very great multitude,	4 Partieron, pues, con todas sus tropas: una muchedumbre innumerable como la arena de la orilla del mar y con gran número de caballos y carros.
5 And all these kings assembled together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.	5 Se juntaron todos estos reyes, llegaron y acamparon juntos hacia las aguas de Merom para luchar contra Israel.
6 And the Lord said to Josue: Fear them not: for to morrow at this same hour I will deliver all these to be slain in the sight of Israel: thou shalt hamstring their horses, and thou shalt burn their chariots with fire.	6 Yahveh dijo entonces a Josué: «No les tengas miedo, porque mañana a esta misma hora los dejará a todos ellos atravesados ante Israel; tú desjarretarás sus caballos y quemarás sus carros».
7 And Josue came, and all the army with him, against them to the waters of Merom on a sudden, and fell upon them.	7 Josué, con toda su gente de guerra, los alcanzó de improvisio junto a las aguas de Merom y cayó sobre ellos.
8 And the Lord delivered them into the hands of Israel. And they defeated them, and chased them as far as the great Sidon, and the waters of Maserophot, and the field of Masphe, which is on the east side thereof. He slew them all, so as to leave no remains of them:	8 Yahveh los entregó en manos de Israel, que los batió y persiguió por occidente hasta Sidón la Grande y hasta Misrefot y, por oriente, hasta el valle de Mispá. Los batió hasta que no quedó ni uno vivo.
9 And he did as the Lord had commanded him, he hamstringed their horses and burned their chariots.	9 Josué los trató como le había dicho Yahveh: desjarretó sus caballos y quemó sus carros.
10 And presently turning back he took Asor: and slew the king thereof with the sword. Now Asor of old was the head of all these kingdoms.	10 Por entonces, Josué se volvió y tomó Jasor, y mató a su rey a espada. Jasor era antiguamente la capital de todos aquellos reinos.
11 And he cut off all the souls that abode there: he left not in it any remains, but utterly destroyed all, and burned the city itself with fire.	11 Pasaron a cuchillo a todo ser viviente que había en ella, dando cumplimiento al anatema. No quedó alma viva y Jasor fue entregada a las llamas.
12 And he took and put to the sword and destroyed all the cities round about, and their kings, as Moses the servant of God had commanded him.	12 Josué se apoderó de todas las ciudades de aquellos reyes, y de todos sus reyes y los pasó a cuchillo para cumplir en ellos el anatema, según le había mandado Moisés, siervo de Yahveh.
13 Except the cities that were on hills and high places, the rest Israel burned: only Asor that was very strong he consumed with fire.	13 Pero Israel no quemó ninguna de las ciudades emplazadas sobre sus montículos de ruinas; con la única excepción de Jasor, que fue incendiada por Josué.
14 And the children of Israel divided among themselves all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, killing all the men.	14 El botín de estas ciudades, incluso el ganado, se lo repartieron los israelitas. Pero pasaron a cuchillo a todo ser humano hasta acabar con todos. No dejaron ninguno con vida.
15 As the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Josue, and he accomplished all: he left not one thing undone of all the commandments which the Lord had commanded Moses.	15 Tal como Yahveh había ordenado a su siervo Moisés, Moisés se lo había ordenado a Josué, Josué lo ejecutó: no dejó de pasar una sola palabra de lo que Yahveh había ordenado a Moisés.
16 So Josue took all the country of the hills, and of the south, and the land of Gosen, and the plains and the west country, and the mountain of Israel, and the plains thereof:	16 Josué se apoderó de todo el país: de la montaña, de todo el Négueb y de todo el país de Gosen, de la Tierra Baja, de la Arabá, de la montaña de Israel y de sus estribaciones.
17 And part of the mountain that goeth up to Seir as far as Baalgad, by the plain of Libanus under mount Hermon: all their kings he took, smote and slew.	17 Desde el monte Pelado, que sube hacia Seír, hasta Baal Gad en el valle del Líbano, al pie del monte Hermon, apreso a todos sus reyes y los hirió de muerte.
18 Josue made war a long time against these kings.	18 Largo tiempo estuvo Josué haciendo la guerra a todos estos reyes;
19 There was hot a city that delivered itself to the children of Israel, except the Hevite, who dwelt in Gabaon: for he took all by fight.	19 no hubo ciudad que hiciera paz con los israelitas, excepto los jivitas que vivían en Gabaón: de todas se apoderaron por la fuerza.
20 For it was the sentence of the Lord, that their hearts should be hardened, and they should fight against Israel, and fall, and should not deserve any clemency, and should be destroyed as the Lord had commanded Moses.	20 Porque de Yahveh provenía el endurecer su corazón para combatir a Israel, para ser así consagradas al anatema sin remisión y para ser exterminadas, como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés.
21 At that time Josue came and cut off the Enacims from the mountains, from Hebron, and Dabir, and Anab, and from all the mountain of Juda and Israel, and destroyed their cities.	21 Por entonces fue Josué y exterminó a los anaquitas de la Montaña, de Hebrón, de Debir, de Anab, de toda la montaña de Judá y de toda la montaña de Israel: los consagró al anatema con sus ciudades.
22 He left not any of the stock of the Enacims, in the land of the children of Israel: except the cities of Gaza, and Geth, and Azotus, in which alone they were left.	22 No quedó un anaquita en el país de los israelitas; sólo quedaron en Gaza, Gad y Asdod.
23 So Josue took all the land, as the Lord spoke to Moses, and delivered it in possession to the children of Israel, according to their divisions and tribes. And the land rested from wars.	23 Josué se apoderó de toda la tierra tal como Yahveh le había dicho a Moisés, y se la dio en herencia a Israel según las suertes de las tribus. Y el país vivió en paz tras la guerra.
