Deuteronomy 18

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The priests and Levites, and all that are of the same tribe, shall have no part nor inheritance with the rest of Israel, because they shall eat the sacrifices of the Lord, and his oblations,	1 I sacerdoti leviti, tutta la tribù di Levi, non avranno parte né eredità con Israele: mangeranno i sacrifici del Signore e la sua eredità.
2 And they shall receive nothing else. of the possession of their brethren: for the Lord himself is their inheritance, as he hath said to them.	2 Non avrà eredità in mezzo ai suoi fratelli; il Signore è la sua eredità, come gli ha detto.
3 This shall be the priest's due from the people, and from them that offer victims: whether they sacrifice an ox, or a sheep, they shall give to the priest the shoulder and the breast:	3 Questi sono i diritti dei sacerdoti sul popolo, su coloro che offrono un sacrificio di bestiame grosso o minuto: si darà al sacerdote la spalla, le mascelle e il ventricolo.
4 The firstfruits also of corn, of wine, and of oil, and a part of the wool from the shearing of their sheep.	4 Gli darai le primizie del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, del tuo olio e le primizie della tosatura del tuo bestiame minuto.
5 For the Lord thy God hath chosen him of all thy tribes, to stand and to minister to the name of the Lord, him and his sons for ever.	5 Perché il Signore tuo Dio l'ha scelto fra tutte le tue tribù per stare al servizio nel nome del Signore, lui e i suoi figli per sempre.
6 If a Levite go out of any one of the cities throughout all Israel, in which he dwelleth, and have a longing mind to come to the place which the Lord shall choose,	6 Se un levita, partendo da una delle tue città in Israele, dove soggiornava, spinto dal suo desiderio andrà al luogo che il Signore sceglierà
7 He shall minister in the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, that shall stand at that time before the Lord.	7 e vi presterà servizio in nome del Signore tuo Dio come tutti i suoi fratelli leviti che stanno là al cospetto del Signore,
8 He shall receive the same portion of food that the rest do: besides that which is due to him in his own city, by succession from his fathers.	8 riceverà per il suo sostentamento una parte uguale a quella degli altri leviti, oltre il ricavato dalla vendita del patrimonio.
9 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee, beware lest thou have a mind to imitate the abominations of those nations.	9 Quando arriverai nella terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona, non imparerai a commettere gli abomini di quelle nazioni.
10 Neither let there be found among you any one that shall expiate his son or daughter, making them to pass through the fire: or that consulteth soothsayers, or observeth dreams and omens, neither let there be any wizard,	10 Non si troverà presso di te chi faccia passare il proprio figlio o la propria figlia per il fuoco, chi pratichi la divinazione, il sortilegio, l'augurio, la magia,
11 Nor charmer, nor any one that consulteth pythonic spirits, or fortune tellers, or that seeketh the truth from the dead.	11 chi pratichi incantesimi, chi consulti gli spettri o l'indovino, chi interroghi i morti.
12 For the Lord abhorreth all these things, and for these abominations he will destroy them at thy coming.	12 Perché è in abominio al Signore chi compie queste cose; a causa di tali abomini il Signore tuo Dio le caccia davanti a te.
13 Thou shalt be perfect, and without spot before the Lord thy God.	13 Tu sarai irreprensibile verso il Signore tuo Dio.
14 These nations, whose land thou shalt possess, hearken to soothsayers and diviners: but thou art otherwise instructed by the Lord thy God.	14 Perché le nazioni che tu stai per cacciare ascoltano gli incantatori e gli indovini; ma non è così che ti ha offerto i suoi doni il Signore tuo Dio.
15 The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a PROPHET of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear:	15 Il Signore tuo Dio susciterà per te, fra i tuoi fratelli, in mezzo a te, un profeta come me: lui ascolterete.
16 As thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and saidst: Let me not hear any more the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see any more this exceeding great fire, lest I die.	16 Come tu hai chiesto al Signore tuo Dio all'Oreb, nel giorno dell'assemblea, dicendo: "Non voglio più ascoltare la voce del Signore mio Dio, e non voglio più vedere questo grande fuoco, per non morire".
17 And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well.	17 Il Signore mi disse: "Hanno parlato bene.
18 m I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.	18 Susciterò per loro, in mezzo ai loro fratelli, un profeta come te, porrò le mie parole sulla sua bocca, ed egli dirà loro tutto ciò che gli ordinerò.
19 And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger.	19 Se qualcuno non ascolterà le parole che egli dice in mio nome, io stesso gliene chiederò conto.
20 But the prophet, who being corrupted with pride, shall speak in my name things that I did not command him to say, or in the name of strange gods, shall be slain.	20 Ma il profeta che presume di dire in mio nome una parola che io non gli ho ordinato di dire e colui che parlerà a nome di altri dèi, quel profeta morirà".
21 And if in silent thought thou answer: How shall I know the word that the Lord hath not spoken?	21 Se dici nel tuo cuore: "Come riconosceremo la parola che il Signore non ha detto?".
22 Thou shalt have this sign: Whatsoever that same prophet foretelleth in the name of the Lord, and it cometh not to pass: that thing the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath forged it by the pride of his mind: and therefore thou shalt not fear him.	22 Quando il profeta parla in nome del Signore, ma la parola non si compie, quella è una parola che il Signore non ha pronunziato. Il profeta ha parlato per presunzione: non temerlo.
