1 And I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and behold a man, with a measuring line in his hand.	1 Ed alzai gli occhi e vidi: ed ecco un uomo che aveva in mano una corda da misurare.
2 And I said: Whither goest thou? and he said to me: To measure Jerusalem, and to see how great is the breadth thereof, and how great the length thereof.	2 E io dissi: « Dove vai tu? » Mi rispose: « A misurare Gerusalemme, per vedere quanta ne sia la larghezza e quanta la lunghezza ».
3 And behold the angel that spoke in me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him.	3 Ed ecco uscir l'angelo che parlava con me, ed un altro angelo gli andava incontro
4 And he said to him: Run, speak to this young man, saying: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls, by reason of the multitude of men, and of the beasts in the midst thereof.	4 a dirgli: « Corri, parla a questo giovane e digli: Senza mura sarà abitata Gerusalemme per la gran quantità di uomini e di bestie che avrà nel suo seno.
5 And I will be to it, saith the Lord, a wall of fire round about: and I will be in glory in the midst thereof.	5 Ma io sarò per essa — dice il Signore — una muraglia di fuoco che la circonderà, e sarò in gloria in mezzo a lei.
6 O, O flee ye out of the land of the north, saith the Lord, for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, saith the Lord.	6 Oh! oh! Fuggite dalla terra del settentrione, — dice il Signore — perchè io v'ho dispersi ai quattro venti del cielo — dice il Signore —
7 O Sion, flee, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon:	7 Oh! Fuggi, o Sion, che abiti presso la figlia di Babilonia;
8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts: After the glory he hath sent me to the nations that have robbed you: for he that toucheth you, toucheth the apple of my eye:	8 perché così paria, il Signore degli eserciti: Per la gloria mi ha inviato allo nazioni che vi spogliarono, perchè chi tocca voi tocca la pupilla del mio occhio.
9 For behold I lift up my hand upon them, and they shall be a prey to those that served them: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts sent me.	9 Ecco che io alzo sopra di loro la mia mano, e saranno preda di quelli che furon loro schiavi, e voi conoscerete che mi ha mandato il Signore degli eserciti.
10 Sing praise, and rejoice, O daughter of Sion: for behold I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: saith the Lord.	10 Canta inni, rallegrati o figlia di Sion perchè ecco che vengo ad abitare in mezzo a te dice il Signore —
11 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me to thee.	11 e molte nazioni si attaccheranno al Signore in quel giorno, e saranno mio popolo ed io abiterò in mezzo a te, e saprai che mi ha mandato a te il Signore degli eserciti.
12 And the Lord shall possess Juda his portion in the sanctified land: and he shall yet choose Jerusalem.	12 E il Signore possederà Giuda come sua porzione nella Terra Santa, e di nuovo sceglierà Gerusalemme.
13 Let all flesh be silent at the presence of the Lord: for he is risen up out of his .holy habitation.	13 Ogni mortale taccia dinanzi al Signore, perchè egli s'è alzato dalla sua santa dimora ».
