Isaiah 47

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Come down, sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne for the daughter of the Chaldeans, for thou shalt no more be called delicate and tender.	1 Scendi, siediti nella polvere, o vergine, figlia di Babilonia! Siediti sulla terra, senza trono, figlia dei Caldei! Perché non sarai più chiamata tenera e delicata.
2 Take a millstone and grind meal: uncover thy shame, strip thy shoulder, make bare thy legs, pass over the rivers.	2 Prendi la mola e macina la farina! Rimuovi il tuo velo, scopri lo strascico, denuda le gambe, attraversa i fiumi!
3 Thy nakedness shall be discovered, and thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and no man shall resist me.	3 La tua nudità sarà scoperta, e apparirà il tuo obbrobrio. Farò vendetta e nessuno intercederà.
4 Our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.	4 Il nostro redentore, il cui nome è Signore degli eserciti, il Santo d'Israele, dice:
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called the lady of kingdoms.	5 "Siedi silenziosa ed entra nelle tenebre, figlia dei Caldei, perché non sarai più chiamata signora dei regni!".
6 I was angry with my people, I have polluted my inheritance, and have given them into thy bend: thou hast shewn no mercy to them: upon the ancient thou hast laid thy yoke exceeding heavy.	6 Mi sono adirato contro il mio popolo, ho profanato la mia eredità; li ho consegnati in tuo potere, ma tu non hai dimostrato loro pietà. Sugli anziani facesti pesare il tuo giogo enormemente.
7 And thou hast said: I shall be a lady for ever: thou hast not laid these things to thy heart, neither hast thou remembered thy latter end.	7 Tu pensavi: "Sarò per sempre, sarò sovrana in perpetuo". Non hai considerato queste cose, non hai meditato sul loro seguito.
8 And now hear these things, thou that art delicate, and dwellest confidently, that sayest in thy heart: I am, and there is none else besides me: I shall not sit as a widow, and I shall not know barrenness.	8 Ed ora ascolta questo, o voluttuosa, che riposi sicura, che pensi in cuor tuo: "Io e nessun altro! Non rimarrò vedova, non conoscerò la mancanza di figli!".
9 These two things shall come upon thee suddenly in one day, barrenness and widowhood. All things are come upon thee, because of the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great hardness of thy enchanters.	9 Queste due cose piomberanno su di te, istantaneamente, in un sol giorno: mancanza di figli e vedovanza verranno a te in piena misura, malgrado l'abbondanza dei tuoi sortilegi e la potenza dei tuoi numerosi scongiuri.
10 And thou best trusted in thy wickedness, and hast said: There is none that seeth me. Thy wisdom, and thy knowledge, this hath deceived thee. And thou best said in thy heart: I am, and besides me there is no other.	10 Confidavi nella tua malizia e dicevi: "Nessuno mi vede". La tua sapienza e la tua scienza ti hanno fuorviato. Eppure tu pensavi nel tuo cuore: "Io e nessun altro".
11 Evil shall come upon thee, and then shalt not know the rising thereof: and calamity shall fall violently upon thee, which thou canst not keep off: misery shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.	11 Ti sopraggiungerà la disgrazia che tu non potrai scongiurare; cadrà su di te la rovina che non potrai evitare; verrà su di te all'istante la catastrofe, che non hai previsto.
12 Stand now with thy enchanters, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, in which thou hast laboured from thy youth, if so be it may profit thee any thing, or if thou mayst become stronger.	12 Rimani con i tuoi incantesimi e con la moltitudine dei tuoi sortilegi, per i quali ti sei affaticata sin dalla giovinezza: forse te ne potrai giovare, forse ti renderai terribile!
13 Thou hast failed in the multitude or thy counsels: let now the astrologers stand and save thee, they that gazed at the stars, and counted the months, that from them they might tell the things that shall come to thee.	13 Ti sei stancata per i tuoi molti consiglieri: si presentino, e ti salvino quelli che misurano il cielo, che contemplano le stelle e pronosticano ogni mese ciò che ti accadrà.
14 Behold they are as stubble, fire hath burnt them, they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the dames: there are no coals wherewith they may be warmed, nor fire, that they may sit thereat.	14 Ecco, sono diventati come paglia; il fuoco li ha bruciati! Non salveranno le loro persone dal potere della fiamma. Ma non sono braci per cuocere il pane né focolare per sedervisi davanti.
15 Such are all the things become to thee, in which thou best laboured: thy merchants from thy youth, every one hath erred in his own way, there is none that can save thee.	15 Così sono stati per te i tuoi incantatori, con i quali ti sei affaticata sin dalla giovinezza. Ognuno erra per conto suo, non c'è nessuno che ti salvi!
