The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool. | 1 A psalm of David. The LORD says to you, my lord: "Take your throne at my righthand, while I make your enemies your footstool." |
The Lord will send forth the sceptre of thy power out of Sion: rule thou in the midst of thy enemies. | 2 The scepter of your sovereign might the LORD will extend from Zion. The LORD says: "Rule over your enemies! |
With thee is the principality in the day of thy strength: in the brightness of the saints: from the womb before the day star I begot thee. | 3 Yours is princely power from the day of your birth. In holy splendor before the daystar, like the dew I begot you." |
The Lord hath sworn, and he will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech. | 4 The LORD has sworn and will not waver: "Like Melchizedek you are a priest forever." |
The Lord at thy right hand hath broken kings in the day of his wrath. | 5 At your right hand is the Lord, who crushes kings on the day of wrath, |
He shall judge among nations, he shall fill ruins: he shall crush the heads in the land of the many. | 6 Who, robed in splendor, judges nations, crushes heads across the wide earth, |
He shall drink of the torrent in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. | 7 Who drinks from the brook by the wayside and thus holds high the head. |
