1 So on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which as we have said above is called Adar, when all the Jews were designed to be massacred, and their enemies were greedy after their blood, the case being altered, the Jews began to have the upper hand, and to revenge themselves of their adversaries.	1 Secondo che detto è di sopra, nel XII mese che si chiamava Adar (cioè marzo) nel XIII dì, quando (per le lettere di Aman) i nemici (de' Giudei) doveano uccidere tutti i Giudei, e' loro nemici ciò aspettavano, in quello medesimo dì (per le lettere di Mardocheo) i Giudei cominciarono ad essere grandi, e soprastare i loro nemici.
2 And they gathered themselves together in every city, and town, and place, to lay their hands on their enemies, and their persecutors. And no one durst withstand them, for the fear of their power had gone through every people.	2 E raunaronsi per tutte le città e castelle e contrade insieme, acciò che si potessero vendicare di quelli loro nemici e loro persecutori. Niuna gente li contraddiceva, udendo ch' erano cotanto inalzati.
3 And the judges of the provinces, and the governors, and lieutenants, and every one in dignity, that presided over every place and work, extolled the Jews for fear of Mardochai:	3 E per tutte le provincie quelli che erano per (vicarii e) giudici e duchi e procuratori, e di ogni dignità, aveano i Giudei in riverenza per timore di Mardocheo.
4 For they knew him to be prince of the palace, and to have great power: and the fame of his name increased daily, and was spread abroad through all men's mouths.	4 Lo qual sapeano che era principe del palazzo, e conobbero che molto potea; e cresceva in grande fama nel popolo per la bocca di tutti (per molte buone operazioni ch' egli facea).
5 So the Jews made a great slaughter of their enemies, and killed them, repaying according to what they had prepared to do to them:	5 Onde i Giudei percossero i loro nemici di una grande piaga, e fecero a loro quello che loro volevano prima fare a loro; e molti n' uccisero (e in ogni provincia in grande quantità).
6 Insomuch that even in Susan they killed five hundred men, besides the ten sons of Aman the Agagite, the enemy of the Jews: whose names are these:	6 Chè solo nella città di Susa (là dove lo re abitava) sì n' uccisero cinquecento, non contando X figliuoli d' Aman Agagite, nemico de' Giudei; i quali si chiamavano in questi nomi:
7 Pharsandatha, and Delphon, and Esphatha,	7 Farsandata e Delfon ed Esfata,
8 And Phoratha, and Adalia, and Aridatha,	8 e Porata, Adalia, Aridata,
9 And Phermesta, and Arisai, and Aridai, and Jezatha.	9 e Fermesta Arisai, Aridai e Iezata.
10 And when they had slain them, they would not touch the spoils of their goods.	10 Poi che gli ebbero morti, non tolsero cosa alcuna di loro.
11 And presently the number of them that were killed in Susan was brought to the king.	11 Ma incontanente fu detto al re, come i Giudei aveano morta tanta gente.
12 And he said to the queen: The Jews have killed five hundred men in the city of Susan, besides the ten sons of Aman: how many dost thou think they have slain in all the provinces? What askest thou more, and what wilt thou have me to command to be done?	12 E il re mandò per la regina, e sì le disse: nella città di Susa i Giudei hanno morti cinquecento uomini, non contando i figliuoli d' Aman. Pensa dunque, quanta gente hanno morta in tante diverse provincie. Perciò, se tu vogli che si faccia più alcuna cosa, (o altri comandamenti), sì me lo di'.
13 And she answered: If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews, to do to morrow in Susan as they have done to day, and that the ten sons of Aman may be hanged upon gibbets.	13 Allora la regina rispose: io ti priego, re, se io ho trovata grazia nel tuo cospetto, che come i Giudei hanno fatto in Susa oggi, così debbano fare domani, e i dieci figliuoli d' Aman siano posti nelle forche.
14 And the king commanded that it should be so done. And forthwith the edict was hung up in Susan, and the ten sons of Aman were hanged.	14 E lo re incontanente comandò che la volontà sua fosse adempiuta. E furono impiccati li dieci figliuoli di Aman.
15 ,15And on the fourteenth day of the month Adar the Jews gathered themselves together, and they killed in Susan three hundred men: but they took not their substance.	15 E i Giudei si raunarono il quartodecimo di del mese nominato di sopra (e impiccarono i figliuoli d' Aman) e uccisero trecento uomini; e delle loro cose niuna fu (fatta mutazione, nè fulli) tolta (alcuna cosa).
16 Moreover through all the provinces which were subject to the king's dominion the Jews stood for their lives, and slew their enemies and persecutors: insomuch that the number of them that were Billed amounted to seventy-five thousand, and no man took any of their goods.	16 E in questi due giorni, in tutto lo reame dello re, e (dove avea potenza lo re) così per tutte le provincie, i Giudei uccisero i loro nemici, tanto che furono li morti LXXV milia d' uomini; e niuna delle loro cose toccarono.
17 Now the thirteenth day of the month Adar was the first day with them all of the slaughter, and on the fourteenth day they left off. Which they ordained to be kept holy day, so that all times hereafter they should celebrate it with feasting, joy, and banquets.	17 Nel terzo decimo dì del mese di Adar (cioè marzo) la uccisione fue per tutto universale; e il quartodecimo di lasciarono di uccidere. E costituirono (e ordinarono) questo essere lo dì solenne, acciò che in tal giorno per ogni tempo che è a venire facessero feste, conviti e trionfi con letizia.
18 But they that were killing in the city of Susan, were employed in the slaughter on the thirteenth and fourteenth day of the same month: and on the fifteenth day they rested. And therefore they appointed that day to be a holy day of feasting and gladness.	18 E imperciò che nelli tredici e nelli quattordici giorni i Giudei, i quali dimoravano in Susa, aveano morti loro nemici, e (ordinarono che in questi due giorni niuno di loro dovesse fare convito nè allegrezza, ma perciò) nelli XV di lasciarono di non uccidere più, questo giorno ordinarono di fare grande allegrezza e festa.
19 But those Jews that dwelt in towns not walled and in villages, appointed the fourteenth day of the month Adar for banquets and gladness, so as to rejoice on that day, and send one another portions of their banquets and meats.	19 E i Giudei, i quali istavano per le castellà non murate e per le ville, però che a' XIIII giorni non uccisero alcuno, questo giorno ordinarono di fare la festa grande e grandi conviti, e che ciascuno dovesse presentare l' uno all' altro in segno di grande amore.
20 And Mardochai wrote all these things, and sent them comprised in letters to the Jews that abode in all the king's provinces, both those that lay near and those afar off,	20 E Mardocheo scrisse a tutti i Giudei, i quali erano da presso e dalla lunga, che abitavano nelle provincie suddite al re,
21 ,21That they should receive the fourteenth and fifteenth day of the month Adar for holy days, and always at the return of the year should celebrate them with solemn honour:	21 che dovessero in questi due giorni cioè nel XIIII e nel XV del mese di Adar (cioè di marzo) fare grande festa, e avergli in grande reverenza;
22 Because on those days the Jews revenged themselves of their enemies, and their mourning and sorrow were turned into mirth and joy, and that these should be days of feasting and gladness, in which they should send one to another portions of meats; and should give gifts to the poor.	22 perciò che loro s' erano vendicati de' loro nemici, e la tristizia che loro dovevano ricevere tornò in grande allegrezza; e (ogni anno) dovessero fare ciascuno grande, convito, e presentare l' uno all'altro, e ai poveri mandassero grandi limosine.
23 And the Jews undertook to observe with solemnity all they had begun to do at that time, which Mardochai by letters had commanded to be done.	23 E tutti i Giudei tolsero questo per una solenne consuetudine, lo quale aveano preso. a fare; e per amore di Mardocheo, ricevute le lettere, ne furono molto allegri; (e così fu fatto).
24 For Aman, the son of Amadathi of the race of Agag, the enemy and adversary of the Jews, had devised evil against them, to kill them and destroy them: and had cast Phur, that is, the lot.	24 E Aman figliuolo di Amadati della stirpe di Agag, inimico e avversario de' Giudei, avea pensato in quelli giorni di fare uccidere i Giudei; e avea gittato per questo le sorti (e perciò avea mandato il comandamento in tutte le provincie da parte del re).
25 And afterwards Esther went in to the king, beseeching him that his endeavours might be made void by the king's letters: and the evil that he had intended against the Jews, might return upon his own head. And so both he and his sons were hanged upon gibbets.	25 E la regina Ester (volendo levare questo comandamento) entrò al re, pregandolo che quello che s' avea isforzato di fare Aman, con sue lettere fosse annullato; e lo male contro a' Giudei (da tutte parti in ogni modo si levi via, e cioè) che Aman avea pensato di fare (altrui), torni sopra di lui. E dopo questo lui e li suoi figliuoli furono crocifissi.
26 And since that time these days are called Phurim, that is, of lots: because Phur, that is, the lot, was cast into the urn. And all things that were done, are contained in the volume of this epistle, that is, of this book:	26 E perciò quelli giorni, da quello in qua, sono chiamati Furim, cioè dì di sorti; però che fu posta la sorte in uno vaso. E tutte le cose che sono fatte, si contengono nel volume di questo libro.
27 And the things that they suffered, and that were afterwards changed, the Jews took upon themselves and their seed, and upon all that had a mind to be joined to their religion, so that it should be lawful for none to pass these days without solemnity: which the writing testifieth, and certain times require, as the years continually succeed one another.	27 Tutte quelle cose che sostennero, e tutte quelle cose che furono da quel tempo in là mutate, riceverono i Giudei sopra sè e sopra la sua progenie e sopra tutti i quali si volsero accostare alla sua religione, acciò che ad alcuno non sia lecito passare senza solennitade [i dì] li quali manifesta questa scrittura, e li altri tempi dimandano (e ricercano), secondo che gli anni succedono l' uno all' altro.
28 These are the days which shall never be forgot: and which all provinces in the whole world shall celebrate throughout all generations: neither is there any city wherein the days of Phurim, that is, of lots, must not be observed by the Jews, and by their posterity, which is bound to these ceremonies.	28 Questi sono giorni i quali non si debbono giammai dimenticare; e tutte le provincie che sono nel mondo per tutte le generazioni li celebreranno; e non è alcuna città nella quale i giorni delle sorti non siano avuti in reverenza dai Giudei e dalla loro progenie, la qual è obbligata a queste cerimonie.
29 And Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mardochai the Jew, wrote also a second epistle, that with all diligence this day should be established a festival for the time to come.	29 E scrisse la regina Ester figliuola di Abiail, e Mardocheo Giudeo, anco una seconda epistola, acciò che con somma diligenza questo di fosse per l'avvenire santificato, e tenuto per di solenne.
30 And they sent to all the Jews that were in the hundred and twenty-seven provinces of king Assuerus, that they should have peace, and receive truth,	30 E mandarono a tutti i Giudei, i quali erano in cento ventisette provincie suddite al re Assuero, che dovessero avere insieme pace, e seguitassero la verità,
31 And observe the days of lots, and celebrate them with joy in their proper time: as Mardochai and Esther had appointed, and they undertook them to be observed by themselves and by their seed, fasts, and cries, and the days of lots,	31 osservando i giorni delle sorti, e nel suo tempo le celebrassero con letizia, sì come avea constituito Mardocheo ed Ester; e quelli rimaseno contenti, che fossero osservati da sè, e da tutti gli suoi successori, li digiuni e li clamori e li dì delle sorti,
32 And all things which are contained in the history of this book, which is called Esther.	32 e tutte quelle cose che si contengono in questo libro, chiamato Istoria di Ester.
