1 But as Tobias made longer stay upon occasion of the marriage, Tobias his father was solicitous, saying: Why thinkest thou doth my son tarry, or why is he detained there?	1 E conciò sia cosa che Tobia dimorasse per cagione delle nozze, il suo padre Tobia era sollecito, e dicea: or perchè dimora il mio figliuolo? or perchè stà egli tanto?
2 Is Gabelus dead, thinkest thou, and no man will pay him the money?	2 Deh! or sarebbe egli morto Gabelo, e niuno gli renderebbe la pecunia?
3 And he began to be exceeding sad, both he and Anna his wife with him: and they began both to weep together: because their son did not return to them on the day appointed.	3 E così s' incominciò a contristare insieme con Anna sua moglie; e cominciarono amendue a piagnere; perciò che al die ordinato il loro figliuolo non tornava a loro.
4 But his mother wept and was quite disconsolate, and said: Woe, woe is me, my son; why did we send thee to go to a strange country, the light of our eyes, the staff of our old age, the comfort of our life, the hope of our posterity?	4 E piagnea la madre sua con smisurate lacrime, e dicea: oimè, oimè, figliuolo mio, perchè ti mandammo noi a pellegrinare, o lume de' nostri occhii, bastone della nostra vecchiezza, sollazzo della nostra vita, speranza di venturo tempo?
5 We having all things together in thee alone, ought not to have let thee go from us.	5 Tutte le nostre cose in te uno abbiamo; e però non ti dovevamo partire da noi.
6 And Tobias said to her: Hold thy peace, and be not troubled, our son is safe: that man with whom we sent him is very trusty.	6 Alla quale dicea Tobia: taci, e non ti turbare, però che il figliuolo nostro è (salvo e) sano; imperciò che è molto fedele quello uomo, con cui il mandammo.
7 But she could by no means be comforted, but daily running out looked round about, and went into all the ways by which there seemed any hope he might return, that she might if possible see him coming afar off.	7 Ma ella per niuno modo si potea consolare; ma ogni di usciva fuori, e guardava dintorno, e aggirava tutte le vie dintorno, per le quali avea speranza del tornare, acciò ch' ella il vedesse da lungi tornare, se potess' essere.
8 But Raguel said to his son in law: Stay here, and I will send a messenger to Tobias thy father, that thou art in health.	8 Ma Raguel dicea al genero suo: deh! statti qui, e io manderò uno messo della salute tua al tuo padre.
9 And Tobias said to him: I know that my father and mother now count the days, and their spirit is grievously afflicted within them.	9 Al quale rispose Tobia: io so che ora il mio padre e la mia madre annùmerano i dì, e i loro spiriti si tormentano in loro.
10 And when Raguel had pressed Tobias with many words, and he by no means would hearken to him, he delivered Sara unto him, and half of all his substance in menservants, and womenservants, in cattle, in camels, and in kine, and in much money, and sent him away safe and joyful from him.	10 Ma da poi che Raguel l' ebbe molto pregato per diversi modi, egli non volendolo intendere per niuna ragione, sì gli diede Sara, e la metà di tutto il suo avere in servi e in serve, e in pecore e in cammelli e in vacche e in molta pecunia; e lasciollo andare sano e allegro,
11 Saying: The holy angel of the Lord be with you in your journey, and bring you through safe, and that you may find all things well about your parents, and my eyes see your children before I die.	11 dicendo: il santo angiolo di Dio sia nel vostro cammino, e ritornate sani e salvi, sì che voi troviate tutte le cose prospere intorno a' vostri maggiori, e gli occhii miei veggiano i vostri figliuoli innanzi ch' io muoia.
12 And the parents taking their daughter kissed her, and let her go:	12 Allora il padre e la madre abbracciarono e basciarono la loro figliuola, e lasciaronla andare,
13 Admonishing her to honour her father and mother in law, to love her husband, to take care of the family, to govern the house, and to behave herself irreprehensibly.	13 ammaestrandola ch' ella dovesse onorare il suocero suo e la sua suocera, e amare il marito, e reggere la famiglia, e governare la casa, e fare sì e in tal modo ch' ella non potesse essere ripresa.
