1 And David assembled all the chief men of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies, who waited on the king: and the captains over thousands, and over hundreds, and them who had the charge over the substance and possessions of the king, and his sons with the officers of the court, and the men of power, and all the bravest of the army at Jerusalem.	1 Or David convocò a Gerusa­lemme tutti i principi d'Israele, i capi delle tribù, i capi delle divisioni al servizio del re, i tribuni, i centurioni, quelli che presiedevano ai beni e ai possessi del re, i suoi figli, i cortigiani, i potenti e i più valorosi dell'esercito.
2 And the king rising up, and standing said: Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had a thought to have built a house, in which the ark of the Lord, and the footstool of our God might rest: and I prepared all things for the building.	2 Poi il re, alzatosi e rimanendo in piedi, disse: « Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei, popolo mio: io ebbi intenzione d'edificare una casa nella qua­le riposasse l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore e lo sgabello dei piedi del nostro Dio; e per edificarla avevo fatto tutti i preparativi;
3 And God said to me: Thou shalt not build a house to my name: because thou art a man of war, and hast shed blood.	3 ma Dio m'ha detto: Tu non edificherai una casa al nome mio, perchè sei uomo di guerra e hai sparso del sangue.
4 But the Lord God of Israel chose me of all the house of my father, to be king over Israel for ever: for of Juda he chose the princes: and of the house of Juda, my father's house: and among the sons of my father, it pleased him to choose me king over all Israel.	4 Il Signore Dio d'Israele elesse me di tutta la casa del mio padre, perchè fossi re sopra Israele in perpetuo: egli scelse da Giuda i principi, dalla casa di Giuda quella di mio padre; dai figli di mio padre gli piacque scegliere me come re sopra tutto Israele.
5 And among my sons (for the Lord hath given me many sons) he hath chosen Solomon my son, to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.	5 E tra i miei figli (il Signore me ne ha dati molti) ha scelto il mio figlio Salomone, perchè segga sul trono del regno del Signore sopra Israele,
6 And he said to me: Solomon thy son shall build my house, and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be a father to him.	6 e mi ha detto: Salomone tuo figlio edificherà la mia casa e i miei atrii, perchè io me l'ho eletto per figlio e gli sarò padre,
7 And I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he continue to keep my commandments, and my judgments, as at this day.	7 e stabilirò il suo regno in eterno, se persevererà nell'adempimento dei miei precetti e delle mie ordinazioni come oggi.
8 Now then before all the assembly of Israel, in the hearing of our God, keep ye, and seek all the commandments of the Lord our God: that you may possess the good land, and may leave it to your children after you for ever.	8 Or dunque dinanzi a tutta l'adunanza d'Israele, e al nostro Dio che ci ascolta, osservate e prendete a cuore tutti i comandamenti del Signore Dio nostro, per possedere l'ottima terra e lasciarla ai vostri figli dopo di voi in sempiterno.
9 And thou my son Solomon, know the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart, and a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the thoughts of minds. If thou seek him, thou shalt find him: but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.	9 Tu poi, o Salomone mio figlio, riconosci il Dio di tuo padre, servilo con cuore perfetto e con animo volenteroso, perchè il Signore scruta tutti i cuori e penetra tutti i pensieri della mente. Se lo cerchi lo troverai; ma se lo abbandoni egli ti rigetterà in eterno.
10 Now therefore seeing the Lord hath chosen thee to build the house of the sanctuary, take courage, and do it.	10 Ed ora che il Signore ti ha eletto per edificare la casa del santuario, sii forte e compi l'opera ».
11 And David gave to Solomon his son a description of the porch, and of the temple, and of the treasures, and of the upper floor, and of the inner chambers, and of the house for the mercy seat,	11 David diè a Salomone suo figlio il disegno del portico, del tempio, dei magazzini, del cenacolo, delle stanze segrete, della casa di propiziazione,
12 As also of all the courts, which he had in his thought, and of the chambers round about, for the treasures of the house of the Lord, and for the treasures of the consecrated things,	12 di tutti gli atrii che egli aveva ideato, delle abitazioni all'intorno per i tesori della casa del Signore e per i tesori delle cose sante;
13 And of the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, for all the works of the house of the Lord, and for all the vessels of the service of the temple of the Lord.	13 la distribuzione dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutti gli uffici della casa del Signore e per tutti i vasi consacrati al servizio del tempio del Signore:
14 Gold by weight for every vessel for the ministry. And silver by weight according to the diversity of the vessels and uses.	14 d'oro secondo il peso necessario per ciascun vaso del ministero, e un monte d'argento pesato secondo la diversità dei vasi e dei lavori.
15 He gave also gold for the golden candlesticks, and their lamps, according to the dimensions of every candlestick, and the lamps thereof. In like manner also he gave silver by weight for the silver candlesticks, and for their lamps according to the diversity of the dimensions of them.	15 Per i candelabri d'oro e per le lampade diede l'oro secondo la misura di ciascun candelabro e delle lampade. Così pure per i candelabri d'argento e per le loro lampade diede il peso d'argento secondo la diversità della loro misura.
16 He gave also gold for the tables of proposition, according to the diversity of the tables: in like manner also silver for other tables of silver.	16 Diede inoltre l'oro per le tavole dei pani di proposizione, secondo la diversità delle tavole, e l'argento per le altre tavole d'argento.
17 For fleshhooks also, and bowls, and censers of fine gold, and for little lions of gold, according to the measure he gave by weight, for every lion. In like manner also for lions of silver he set aside a different weight of silver.	17 Cosi pure per i forchettoni, per le coppe, per i turiboli d'oro finissimo. Per i leoncini di oro, secondo la misura, della loro grandezza, assegnò pesato l'oro per l'un e per l'altro leoncino. Così pure per i leoni d'argento mise da parte un altro peso d'argento-
18 And for the altar of incense, he gave the purest gold: and to make the likeness of the chariot of the cherubims spreading their wings, and covering the ark of the covenant of the Lord.	18 Diede inoltre oro finissimo per l'altare su cui brucia l'incenso e per farne una rappresentazione del carro dei cherubini che spandono le ali e velano l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore. i
19 All these things, said he, came to me written by the hand of the Lord that I might understand all the works of the pattern.	19 Tutte que­ste cose, egli disse, mi sono venute scritte dalla mano del Si­gnore, che mi ha fatto comprendere tutti i lavori di questo disegno ».
20 And David said to Solomon his son: Act like a man, and take courage, and do: fear not, and be not dismayed: for the Lord my God will be with thee, and will not leave thee, nor forsake thee, till thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.	20 Disse ancora David a Salomone suo figlio: « Agisci virilmente e fatti animo, e mettiti all'opera, senza temere, senza sbigottire; perchè il Signore Dio mio sarà con te, e non ti lascerà, non ti abbandonerà fino a tanto che tu non abbia compita tutta l'opera del servizio della casa del Signore.
21 Behold the courses of the priests and the Levites, for every ministry of the house of the Lord, stand by thee, and are ready, and both the princes, and the people know how to execute all thy commandments.	21 Ecco, le classi dei sacerdoti e dei leviti per tutto il servizio della casa di Dio sono davanti a te, son pronte, e tanto i capi come il popolo sanno eseguire tutti i tuoi comandi ».
