Seconda lettera a Timoteo 4

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Io adunque ti protesto, nel cospetto di Dio, e del Signor Gesù Cristo, il quale ha da giudicare i vivi ed i morti, nella sua apparizione, e nel suo regno,	1 Before God and before Christ Jesus who is to be judge of the living and the dead, I charge you, in thename of his appearing and of his kingdom:
2 che tu predichi la parola, che tu faccia instanza a tempo, e fuor di tempo; riprendi, sgrida, esorta, con ogni pazienza, e dottrina.	2 proclaim the message and, welcome or unwelcome, insist on it. Refute falsehood, correct error, giveencouragement -- but do all with patience and with care to instruct.
3 Perciocchè verrà il tempo, che non comporteranno la sana dottrina; ma, pizzicando loro gli orecchi, si accumuleranno dottori, secondo i lor propri appetiti:	3 The time is sure to come when people wil not accept sound teaching, but their ears wil be itching foranything new and they wil col ect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes;
4 e rivolteranno le orecchie dalla verità, e si volgeranno alle favole.	4 and then they will shut their ears to the truth and wil turn to myths.
5 Ma tu sii vigilante in ogni cosa, soffri afflizioni, fa’ l’opera d’evangelista, fa’ appieno fede del tuo ministerio.	5 But you must keep steady al the time; put up with suffering; do the work of preaching the gospel; fulfilthe service asked of you.
6 PERCIOCCHÈ, quant’è a me, ad ora son per essere offerto a guisa d’offerta da spandere, e soprastà il tempo della mia tornata a casa.	6 As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to depart.
7 Io ho combattuto il buon combattimento, io ho finito il corso, io ho serbata la fede.	7 I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith;
8 Nel rimanente, mi è riposta la corona della giustizia, della quale mi farà in quel giorno retribuzione il Signore, il giusto Giudice; e non solo a me, ma a tutti coloro ancora che avranno amata la sua apparizione	8 al there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, wil give tome on that Day; and not only to me but to al those who have longed for his appearing.
9 Studiati di venir tosto a me.	9 Make every effort to come and see me as soon as you can.
10 Perciocchè Dema mi ha lasciato, avendo amato il presente secolo, e se n’è andato in Tessalonica; Crescente in Galazia, Tito in Dalmazia.	10 As it is, Demas has deserted me for love of this life and gone to Thessalonica, Crescens has gone toGalatia and Titus to Dalmatia;
11 Luca è solo meco; prendi Marco, e menalo teco; perciocchè egli mi è molto utile al ministerio.	11 only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you; I find him a useful helper in my work.
12 Or io ho mandato Tichico in Efeso.	12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
13 Quando tu verrai, porta la cappa che io ho lasciata in Troade, appresso di Carpo; ed i libri, principalmente le pergamene.	13 When you come, bring the cloak I left with Carpus in Troas, and the scrol s, especially the parchmentones.
14 Alessandro, il fabbro di rame, mi ha fatto del male assai; gli renderà il Signore secondo le sue opere.	14 Alexander the coppersmith has done me a lot of harm; the Lord wil repay him as his deeds deserve.
15 Da esso ancora tu guardati; perciocchè egli ha grandemente contrastato alle nostre parole	15 Be on your guard against him yourself, because he has been bitterly contesting everything that we say.
16 Niuno si è trovato meco nella mia prima difesa; ma tutti mi hanno abbandonato; non sia loro imputato.	16 The first time I had to present my defence, no one came into court to support me. Every one of themdeserted me -- may they not be held accountable for it.
17 Ma il Signore è stato meco, e mi ha fortificato; acciocchè la predicazione fosse per me appieno accertata, e che tutti i Gentili l’udissero; ed io sono stato liberato dalla gola del leone.	17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be ful yproclaimed for al the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth.
18 E il Signore mi libererà ancora da ogni mala opera e mi salverà, e raccorrà nel suo regno celeste. A lui sia la gloria ne’ secoli de’ secoli. Amen.	18 The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. Tohim be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Saluta Priscilla ed Aquila, e la famiglia d’Onesiforo.	19 Greetings to Prisca and Aquila, and the family of Onesiphorus.
20 Erasto è rimasto in Corinto, ed io ho lasciato Trofimo infermo in Mileto.	20 Erastus stayed behind at Corinth, and I left Trophimus il at Miletus.
21 Studiati di venire avanti il verno. Eubulo, e Pudente, e Lino, e Claudia, e tutti i fratelli ti salutano.	21 Make every effort to come before the winter. Greetings to you from Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudiaand all the brothers.
22 Sia il Signor Gesù Cristo con lo spirito tuo. La grazia sia con voi. Amen	22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.
