Seconda lettera ai Tessalonicesi 2

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 OR noi vi preghiamo, fratelli, riguardo all’avvenimento del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, ed al nostro adunamento in lui,	1 About the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers, and our being gathered to him:
2 che non siate tosto smossi della mente, nè turbati, per ispirito, nè per parola, nè per epistola, come da parte nostra, quasi che il giorno di Cristo soprastia vicino	2 please do not be too easily thrown into confusion or alarmed by any manifestation of the Spirit or anystatement or any letter claiming to come from us, suggesting that the Day of the Lord has already arrived.
3 Niuno v’inganni per alcuna maniera; perciocchè quel giorno non verrà, che prima non sia venuta l’apostasia, e non sia manifestato l’uomo del peccato, il figliuol della perdizione.	3 Never let anyone deceive you in any way. It cannot happen until the Great Revolt has taken place andthere has appeared the wicked One, the lost One,
4 L’avversario, che s’innalza sopra chiunque è chiamato dio, o divinità; talchè siede nel tempio di Dio, come Dio; mostrando sè stesso, e dicendo, ch’egli è Dio.	4 the Enemy, who raises himself above every so-cal ed God or object of worship to enthrone himself inGod's sanctuary and flaunts the claim that he is God.
5 Non vi ricordate voi che, essendo ancora fra voi, io vi diceva queste cose?	5 Surely you remember my tel ing you about this when I was with you?
6 Ed ora voi sapete ciò che lo ritiene, acciocchè egli sia manifestato al suo tempo.	6 And you know, too, what is still holding him back from appearing before his appointed time.
7 Perciocchè già fin da ora opera il misterio dell’iniquità; soltanto colui che lo ritiene al presente dev’esser tolto di mezzo.	7 The mystery of wickedness is already at work, but let him who is restraining it once be removed,
8 Ed allora sarà manifestato quell’empio, il quale il Signore distruggerà per lo spirito della sua bocca, e ridurrà al niente per l’apparizion del suo avvenimento.	8 and the wicked One will appear openly. The Lord wil destroy him with the breath of his mouth and wilannihilate him with his glorious appearance at his coming.
9 Del quale empio l’avvenimento sarà, secondo l’operazione di Satana, con ogni potenza, e prodigi, e miracoli di menzogna;	9 But the coming of the wicked One wil be marked by Satan being at work in al kinds of counterfeitmiracles and signs and wonders,
10 e con ogni inganno d’iniquità, in coloro che periscono, perciocchè non hanno dato luogo all’amor della verità, per esser salvati.	10 and every wicked deception aimed at those who are on the way to destruction because they would notaccept the love of the truth and so be saved.
11 E però Iddio manderà loro efficacia d’errore, affin che credano alla menzogna;	11 And therefore God sends on them a power that deludes people so that they believe what is false,
12 acciocchè sieno giudicati tutti coloro che non hanno creduto alla verità, ma si non compiaciuti nell’iniquità	12 and so that those who do not believe the truth and take their pleasure in wickedness may al becondemned.
13 Ma noi siamo obbligati di render del continuo grazie di voi a Dio, fratelli amati dal Signore, di ciò che Iddio vi ha eletti dal principio a salute, in santificazion di Spirito, e fede alla verità.	13 But we must always thank God for you, brothers whom the Lord loves, because God chose you fromthe beginning to be saved by the Spirit who makes us holy and by faith in the truth.
14 A che egli vi ha chiamati per il nostro evangelo, all’acquisto della gloria del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.	14 Through our gospel he called you to this so that you should claim as your own the glory of our LordJesus Christ.
15 Perciò, fratelli, state saldi, e ritenete gl’insegnamenti che avete imparati per parola, o per epistola nostra	15 Stand firm, then, brothers, and keep the traditions that we taught you, whether by word of mouth or byletter.
16 Ora, il Signor nostro Gesù Cristo stesso, e l’Iddio e Padre nostro, il qual ci ha amati, e ci ha data eterna consolazione, e buona speranza in grazia,	16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who has given us his love and, through hisgrace, such ceaseless encouragement and such sure hope,
17 consoli i cuori vostri, e vi confermi in ogni buona parola, ed opera	17 encourage you and strengthen you in every good word and deed.
