Prima lettera ai Corinzi 15

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ORA, fratelli, io vi dichiaro l’evangelo, il quale io vi ho evangelizzato, il quale ancora avete ricevuto, e nel quale state ritti.	1 I want to make quite clear to you, brothers, what the message of the gospel that I preached to you is;you accepted it and took your stand on it,
2 Per lo quale ancora siete salvati, se lo ritenete nella maniera, che io ve l’ho evangelizzato; se non che abbiate creduto in vano.	2 and you are saved by it, if you keep to the message I preached to you; otherwise your coming tobelieve was in vain.
3 Poichè imprima io vi ho dato ciò che ancora ho ricevuto: che Cristo è morto per i nostri peccati, secondo le scritture.	3 The tradition I handed on to you in the first place, a tradition which I had myself received, was thatChrist died for our sins, in accordance with the scriptures,
4 E ch’egli fu seppellito, e che risuscitò al terzo giorno, secondo le scritture.	4 and that he was buried; and that on the third day, he was raised to life, in accordance with thescriptures;
5 E ch’egli apparve a Cefa, e dipoi a’ dodici.	5 and that he appeared to Cephas; and later to the Twelve;
6 Appresso apparve ad una volta a più di cinquecento fratelli, dei quali la maggior parte resta infino ad ora; ed alcuni ancora dormono.	6 and next he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom arestill with us, though some have fal en asleep;
7 Poi apparve a Giacomo, e poi a tutti gli apostoli insieme.	7 then he appeared to James, and then to all the apostles.
8 E dopo tutti, è apparito ancora a me, come all’abortivo.	8 Last of al he appeared to me too, as though I was a child born abnormally.
9 Perciocchè io sono il minimo degli apostoli, e non son pur degno d’esser chiamato apostolo, perciocchè io ho perseguitata la chiesa di Dio.	9 For I am the least of the apostles and am not real y fit to be called an apostle, because I had beenpersecuting the Church of God;
10 Ma, per la grazia di Dio, io son quel che sono; e la grazia sua, ch’è stata verso me, non è stata vana; anzi ho vie più faticato che essi tutti; or non già io, ma la grazia di Dio, la quale è meco.	10 but what I am now, I am through the grace of God, and the grace which was given to me has notbeen wasted. Indeed, I have worked harder than all the others -- not I, but the grace of God which is with me.
11 Ed io adunque, ed essi, così predichiamo, e così avete creduto	11 Anyway, whether it was they or I, this is what we preach and what you believed.
12 Ora, se si predica che Cristo è risuscitato da’ morti, come dicono alcuni fra voi che non vi è risurrezione de’ morti?	12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you be saying that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 Ora, se non vi è risurrezione de’ morti, Cristo ancora non è risuscitato.	13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ cannot have been raised either,
14 E se Cristo non è risuscitato, vana è adunque la nostra predicazione, vana è ancora la vostra fede.	14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is without substance, and so is your faith.
15 E noi ancora siamo trovati falsi testimoni di Dio; poichè abbiamo testimoniato di Dio, ch’egli ha risuscitato Cristo; il quale egli non ha risuscitato, se pure i morti non risuscitano.	15 What is more, we have proved to be false witnesses to God, for testifying against God that he raisedChrist to life when he did not raise him -- if it is true that the dead are not raised.
16 Perciocchè, se i morti non risuscitano, Cristo ancora non è risuscitato.	16 For, if the dead are not raised, neither is Christ;
17 E se Cristo non è risuscitato, vana è la vostra fede, voi siete ancora ne’ vostri peccati.	17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is pointless and you have not, after al , been releasedfrom your sins.
18 Quelli adunque ancora che dormono in Cristo son periti.	18 In addition, those who have fal en asleep in Christ are utterly lost.
19 Se noi speriamo in Cristo solo in questa vita, noi siamo i più miserabili di tutti gli uomini	19 If our hope in Christ has been for this life only, we are of al people the most pitiable.
20 Ma ora Cristo è risuscitato da’ morti; egli è stato fatto le primizie di coloro che dormono.	20 In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first-fruits of al who have fal enasleep.
21 Perciocchè, poichè per un uomo è la morte, per un uomo altresì è la risurrezione de’ morti.	21 As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead.
22 Imperocchè, siccome in Adamo tutti muoiono, così in Cristo tutti saranno vivificati.	22 Just as al die in Adam, so in Christ al wil be brought to life;
23 Ma ciascuno nel suo proprio ordine: Cristo è le primizie; poi, nel suo avvenimento, saranno vivificati coloro che son di Cristo.	23 but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first-fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belongto him.
24 Poi sarà la fine, quando egli avrà rimesso il regno in man di Dio Padre; dopo ch’egli avrà ridotta al niente ogni signoria, ed ogni podestà, e potenza.	24 After that wil come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolishedevery principality, every ruling force and power.
25 Poichè conviene ch’egli regni, finchè egli abbia messi tutti i nemici sotto i suoi piedi.	25 For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool,
26 Il nemico, che sarà distrutto l’ultimo, è la morte.	26 and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put al things under his feet.
27 Perciocchè Iddio ha posta ogni cosa sotto i piedi di esso; ora, quando dice che ogni cosa gli è sottoposta, è cosa chiara che ciò è detto da colui infuori, che gli ha sottoposta ogni cosa.	27 But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjectedeverything to him.
28 Ora, dopo che ogni cosa gli sarà stata sottoposta, allora il Figliuolo sarà anch’egli sottoposto a colui che gli ha sottoposta ogni cosa, acciocchè Iddio sia ogni cosa in tutti.	28 When everything has been subjected to him, then the Son himself wil be subjected to the One whohas subjected everything to him, so that God may be al in al .
29 Altrimenti, che faranno coloro che son battezzati per li morti? se del tutto i morti non risuscitano, perchè son eglino ancora battezzati per li morti?	29 Otherwise, what are people up to who have themselves baptised on behalf of the dead? If the deadare not raised at al , what is the point of being baptised on their behalf?
30 Perchè siamo noi ancora ad ogni ora in pericolo?	30 And what about us? Why should we endanger ourselves every hour of our lives?
31 Io muoio tuttodì; sì, per la gloria di voi, ch’io ho in Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.	31 I swear by the pride that I take in you, in Christ Jesus our Lord, that I face death every day.
32 Se, secondo l’uomo, io ho combattuto con le fiere in Efeso, che utile ne ho io? se i morti non risuscitano, mangiamo e beviamo, perciocchè domani morremo.	32 If I fought wild animals at Ephesus in a purely human perspective, what had I to gain by it?
33 Non errate: cattive compagnie corrompono i buoni costumi.	33 If the dead are not going to be raised, then Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall be dead.
34 Svegliatevi giustamente, e non peccate; perciocchè alcuni sono ignoranti di Dio; io lo dico per farvi vergogna	34 So do not let anyone lead you astray, 'Bad company corrupts good ways.' Wake up from your stuporas you should and leave sin alone; some of you have no understanding of God; I tel you this to instil someshame in you.
35 Ma dirà alcuno: Come risuscitano i morti, e con qual corpo verranno?	35 Someone may ask: How are dead people raised, and what sort of body do they have when theycome?
36 Pazzo! quel che tu semini non è vivificato, se prima non muore.	36 How foolish! What you sow must die before it is given new life;
37 E quant’è a quel che tu semini, tu non semini il corpo che ha da nascere; ma un granello ignudo, secondo che accade, o di frumento, o d’alcun altro seme.	37 and what you sow is not the body that is to be, but only a bare grain, of wheat I dare say, or someother kind;
38 E Iddio, secondo che ha voluto, gli dà il corpo; a ciascuno de’ semi il suo proprio corpo.	38 it is God who gives it the sort of body that he has chosen for it, and for each kind of seed its own kindof body.
39 Non ogni carne è la stessa carne; anzi, altra è la carne degli uomini, altra la carne delle bestie, altra la carne de’ pesci, altra la carne degli uccelli.	39 Not al flesh is the same flesh: there is human flesh; animals have another kind of flesh, birds anotherand fish yet another.
40 Vi sono ancora de’ corpi celesti, e de’ corpi terrestri; ma altra è la gloria de’ celesti, altra quella de’ terrestri.	40 Then there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; the heavenly have a splendour of their own, andthe earthly a different splendour.
41 Altro è lo splendore del sole, ed altro lo splendor della luna, ed altro lo splendor delle stelle; perciocchè un astro è differente dall’altro astro in isplendore.	41 The sun has its own splendour, the moon another splendour, and the stars yet another splendour;and the stars differ among themselves in splendour.
42 Così ancora sarà la risurrezione dei morti; il corpo è seminato in corruzione, e risusciterà in incorruttibilità.	42 It is the same too with the resurrection of the dead: what is sown is perishable, but what is raised isimperishable;
43 Egli è seminato in disonore, e risusciterà in gloria; egli è seminato in debolezza, e risusciterà in forza; egli è seminato corpo animale, e risusciterà corpo spirituale.	43 what is sown is contemptible but what is raised is glorious; what is sown is weak, but what is raisedis powerful;
44 Vi è corpo animale, e vi è corpo spirituale.	44 what is sown is a natural body, and what is raised is a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, thereis a spiritual body too.
45 Così ancora è scritto: Il primo uomo Adamo fu fatto in anima vivente; ma l’ultimo Adamo in ispirito vivificante.	45 So the first man, Adam, as scripture says, became a living soul; and the last Adam has become alife-giving spirit.
46 Ma lo spirituale non è prima; ma prima è l’animale, poi lo spirituale.	46 But first came the natural body, not the spiritual one; that came only afterwards.
47 Il primiero uomo, essendo di terra, fu terreno; il secondo uomo, che è il Signore, è dal cielo.	47 The first man, being made of earth, is earthly by nature; the second man is from heaven.
48 Qual fu il terreno, tali sono ancora i terreni; e quale è il celeste, tali ancora saranno i celesti.	48 The earthly man is the pattern for earthly people, the heavenly man for heavenly ones.
49 E come noi abbiam portata l’immagine del terreno, porteremo ancora l’immagine del celeste.	49 And as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so we shal bear the likeness of the heavenlyone.
50 Or questo dico, fratelli, che la carne e il sangue, non possono eredare il regno di Dio; parimente, la corruzione non ereda l’incorruttibilità	50 What I am saying, brothers, is that mere human nature cannot inherit the kingdom of God: what isperishable cannot inherit what is imperishable.
51 Ecco, io vi dico un misterio: non già tutti morremo, ma ben tutti saremo mutati; in un momento, in un batter d’occhio, al sonar dell’ultima tromba.	51 Now I am going to tel you a mystery: we are not al going to fal asleep,
52 Perciocchè la tromba sonerà, e i morti risusciteranno incorruttibili, e noi saremo mutati.	52 but we are al going to be changed, instantly, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpetsounds. The trumpet is going to sound, and then the dead wil be raised imperishable, and we shal be changed,
53 Poichè conviene che questo corruttibile rivesta incorruttibilità, e che questo mortale rivesta immortalità.	53 because this perishable nature of ours must put on imperishability, this mortal nature must put onimmortality.
54 E quando questo corruttibile avrà rivestita incorruttibilità, e che questo mortale avrà rivestita immortalità, allora sarà adempiuta la parola che è scritta: La morte è stata abissata in vittoria.	54 And after this perishable nature has put on imperishability and this mortal nature has put onimmortality, then wil the words of scripture come true: Death is swal owed up in victory.
55 O morte, ov’è il tuo dardo? o inferno, ov’è la tua vittoria?	55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?
56 Or il dardo della morte è il peccato, e la forza del peccato è la legge.	56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin comes from the Law.
57 Ma ringraziato sia Iddio, il qual ci dà la vittoria per lo Signor nostro Gesù Cristo	57 Thank God, then, for giving us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
58 Perciò, fratelli miei diletti, state saldi, immobili, abbondanti del continuo nell’opera del Signore, sapendo che la vostra fatica non è vana nel Signore	58 So, my dear brothers, keep firm and immovable, always abounding in energy for the Lord's work,being sure that in the Lord none of your labours is wasted.
