DIODATI	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 IL dissipatore è salito contro a te, o Ninive; guarda pur ben la fortezza, considera le vie, rinforzati i lombi, fortifica grandemente la tua forza.	1 He is come up that shall destroy before thy face, that shall keep the siege: watch the way, fortify thy loins, strengthen thy power exceedingly.
2 Perciocchè il Signore ha restituita a Giacobbe la sua gloria, quale è la gloria d’Israele; conciossiachè de’ vendemmiatori li abbiano vendemmiati, ed abbiano guasti i lor tralci.	2 For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.
3 Gli scudi degli uomini prodi di colui son tinti di rosso, i suoi uomini di guerra son vestiti di scarlatto; nel giorno ch’egli ordinerà la battaglia, i carri si muoveranno con fuoco di faci, e gli abeti saranno scossi.	3 The shield of his mighty men is like fire, the men of the army are clad in scarlet, the reins of the chariot are flaming in the day of his preparation, and the drivers are stupefied.
4 I carri smanieranno per le strade, e faranno un grande scalpiccio per le piazze; gli aspetti di coloro saran simili a torchi accesi, essi scorreranno come folgori.	4 They are in confusion in the ways, the chariots jostle one against another in the streets: their looks are like torches, like lightning running to and fro.
5 Egli chiamerà per nome i suoi bravi guerrieri, essi s’intopperanno camminando, correranno in fretta al muro di essa, e la difesa sarà apparecchiata.	5 He will muster up his valiant men, they shall stumble in their march: they shall quickly get upon the walls thereof: and a covering shall be prepared.
6 Le cateratte de’ fiumi saranno aperte, e i palazzi scoscenderanno.	6 The gates of the rivers are opened, and the temple is thrown down to the ground.
7 E le dame del serraglio saran menate in cattività, e tratte fuori; e le lor serventi le accompagneranno con voci, simili a quelle delle colombe, picchiandosi i petti come tamburi.	7 And the soldier is led away captive: and her bondwomen were led away mourning as doves, murmuring in their hearts.
8 Or Ninive è stata, dal tempo che è in essere, come un vivaio di acque; ora fuggono essi. Fermatevi, fermatevi; ma niuno si rivolge.	8 And as for Ninive, her waters are like a great pool, but the men flee away. They cry: Stand, stand, but there is none that will return back.
9 Predate l’argento, predate l’oro; vi è apparecchio senza fine; predate la gloria degli arredi preziosi d’ogni sorta.	9 Take ye the spoil of the silver, take the spoil of the gold: for there is no end of the riches of all the precious furniture.
10 Ella è vuotata, e spogliata, e desolata; ed ogni cuore è strutto, e tutte le ginocchia si battono, e vi è doglia in tutti i lombi, e le facce di tutti sono impallidite	10 She is destroyed, and rent, and torn: the heart melteth, and the knees fail, and all the loins lose their strength: and the faces of them all are as the blackness of a kettle.
11 Dov’è il ricetto de’ leoni, e quel ch’era il pasco de’ leoncelli, dove andava il leone, il fiero leone, e il leoncello, senza che alcuno li spaventasse?	11 Where is now the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, to which the lion went, to enter in thither, the young lion, and there was none to make them afraid?
12 Quivi rapiva il leone per li suoi leoncelli abbastanza, e strangolava per le sue leonesse; ed empieva le sue grotte di preda, e i suoi ricetti di rapina.	12 The lion caught enough for his whelps, and killed for his lionesses: and he filled his holes with prey, and his den with rapine.
13 Eccomi a te, dice il Signor degli eserciti; io arderò, e ridurrò in fumo i tuoi carri, e la spada divorerà i tuoi leoncelli; e sterminerò dalla terra la tua preda, e la voce de’ tuoi messi non sarà più udita	13 Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn thy chariots even to smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey out of the land, and the voice of thy messengers shall be heard no more.
