1 ORA, dopo quella piaga, il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Eleazaro, figliuolo d’Aaronne, Sacerdote:	1 After this plague, Yahweh spoke to Moses and to the priest Eleazar son of Aaron and said:
2 Levate la somma di tutta la raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele, annoverando dall’età di vent’anni in su, per le nazioni loro paterne, tutti quelli che possono andare alla guerra in Israele.	2 'Take a census of the whole community of Israelites, by families: al those of twenty years and over, fitto bear arms in Israel.'
3 Mosè adunque, e il Sacerdote Eleazaro, parlarono loro nelle campagne di Moab, presso al Giordano di Gerico, dicendo:	3 So Moses and the priest Eleazar took a census of them on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan byJericho. They counted
4 Annoverate il popolo, dall’età di vent’anni in su; come il Signore avea comandato a Mosè, e ai figliuoli d’Israele, ch’erano usciti del paese di Egitto	4 (as Yahweh had ordered Moses and the Israelites after leaving Egypt) men of twenty years and over:
5 Il primogenito d’Israele fu Ruben. I figliuoli di Ruben furono, di Hanoc, la nazione degli Hanochiti; di Pallu, la nazione de’ Palluiti;	5 Reuben, the first-born of Israel. The sons of Reuben: for Hanoch, the Hanochite clan; for Pal u, thePal uite clan;

7 Queste sono le nazioni de’ Rubeniti, e gli annoverati fra loro furono quarantatremila settecentrenta.	7 These were the Reubenite clans. They numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men.
8 Di Pallu fu figliuolo Eliab.	8 The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9 E i figliuoli di Eliab furono Nemuel, Datan e Abiram. Questo è quel Datan e quell’Abiram, d’infra quelli che si chiamavano alla raunata del popolo, i quali si sollevarono contro a Mosè e contro ad Aaronne, quando Core fece la sua massa, ed essi si sollevarono contro al Signore.	9 The sons of Eliab: Nemuel, Dathan and Abiram. These two, Dathan and Abiram, men of repute in thecommunity, were the ones who revolted against Moses and Aaron; they belonged to Korah's group when itrevolted against Yahweh.
10 E la terra aperse la sua bocca, e li tranghiottì; insieme con Core, che morì quando morì quella raunata, quando il fuoco consumò i dugencinquanta uomini, i quali furono per segno.	10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them (with Korah when that group perished), when fireconsumed the two hundred and fifty men. They were a sign.
11 Or i figliuoli di Core non morirono.	11 Korah's sons, however, did not perish.
12 I figliuoli di Simeone, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Nemuel, la nazione de’ Nemueliti; di Giamin, la nazione de’ Giaminiti; di Giachin, la nazione de’ Giachiniti;	12 The sons of Simeon by clans: for Nemuel, the Nemuelite clan; for Jamin, the Jaminite clan; forJachin, the Jachinite clan;
13 di Zera, la nazione de’ Zeraiti; e di Saul, la nazione de’ Sauliti.	13 for Zerah, the Zerahite clan; for Shaul, the Shaulite clan.
14 Queste sono le nazioni de’ Simeoniti, de’ quali gli annoverati furono ventiduemila dugento.	14 These were the Simeonite clans. They numbered twenty-two thousand two hundred men.
15 I figliuoli di Gad, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Sefon, la nazione dei Sefoniti; d’Hagghi, la nazione degli Hagghiti; di Suni, la nazione de’ Suniti;	15 The sons of Gad by clans: for Zephon, the Zephonite clan; for Haggi, the Haggite clan; for Shuni, theShunite clan;
16 d’Ozni, la nazione degli Ozniti; di Eri, la nazione degli Eriti; di Arod, la nazione degli Aroditi;	16 for Ozni, the Oznite clan; for Eri, the Erite clan;

19 I figliuoli di Giuda furono Er e Onan. Ora Er e Onan morirono nel paese di Canaan.	19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan. Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20 E i figliuoli di Giuda, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Sela, la nazione de’ Selaniti; di Fares, la nazione de’ Farsiti; di Zara, la nazione degli Zariti.	20 The other sons of Judah became clans: for Shelah, the Shelahite clan; for Perez, the Perezzite clan;for Zerah, the Zerahite clan.
21 E i figliuoli di Fares furono, di Hesron, la nazione degli Hesroniti; e di Hamul, la nazione degli Hamuliti.	21 The sons of Perez were: for Hezron, the Hezronite clan; for Hamul, the Hamulite clan.
22 Queste sono le nazioni di Giuda, secondo i loro annoverati, che furono settantaseimila cinquecento.	22 These were the clans of Judah. They numbered seventy-six thousand five hundred men.
23 I figliuoli d’Issacar, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Tola, la nazione dei Tolaiti; di Puva, la nazione de’ Puviti;	23 The sons of Issachar by clans: for Tola, the Tolaite clan; for Puvah, the Puvahite clan;
24 di Giasub, la nazione de’ Giasubiti; e di Simron, la nazione de’ Simroniti.	24 for Jashub, the Jashubite clan; for Shimron, the Shimronite clan.

26 I figliuoli di Zabulon, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Sered, la nazione de’ Sarditi; di Elon, la nazione degli Eloniti; e di Gialeel, la nazione de’ Gialeeliti.	26 The sons of Zebulun by clans: for Sered, the Seredite clan; for Elon, the Elonite clan; for Jahleel, theJahleelite clan.
27 Queste sono le nazioni degli Zabuloniti, secondo i loro annoverati, che furono sessantamila cinquecento.	27 These were the clans of Zebulun. They numbered sixty thousand five hundred men.
28 I figliuoli di Giuseppe, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono Manasse ed Efraim.	28 The sons of Joseph by clans: Manasseh and Ephraim.
29 I figliuoli di Manasse furono, di Machir, la nazione de’ Machariti. E Machir generò Galaad, e di Galaad discese la nazione de’ Galaaditi.	29 The sons of Manasseh: for Machir, the Machirite clan; Machir fathered Gilead: for Gilead, theGileadite clan.
30 Questi sono i figliuoli di Galaad: di Iezer, la nazione degl’Iezeriti; di Helec, la nazione degli Helchiti;	30 These were the sons of Gilead: for Iezer, the Iezerite clan; for Helek, the Helekite clan;

34 Queste sono le nazioni di Manasse, delle quali gli annoverati furono cinquantaduemila settecento.	34 These were the clans of Manasseh. They numbered fifty-two thousand seven hundred men.
35 Questi sono i figliuoli di Efraim, distinti per le lor nazioni: di Sutela, la nazione de’ Sutelaiti; di Becher, la nazione de’ Bacriti; di Tahan, la nazione de’ Tahaniti.	35 These were the sons of Ephraim by clans: for Shuthelah, the Shuthelahite clan; for Becher, theBecherite clan; for Tahan, the Tahanite clan.
36 E questi sono i figliuoli di Sutela: di Eran, la nazione degli Eraniti.	36 These were the sons of Shuthelah: for Eran, the Eranite clan.
37 Queste sono le nazioni de’ figliuoli d’Efraim, secondo i loro annoverati, che furono trentaduemila cinquecento. Questi sono i figliuoli di Giuseppe, distinti per le lor nazioni.	37 These were the clans of Ephraim. They numbered thirty-two thousand five hundred men. Thesewere the sons of Joseph by clans.
38 I figliuoli di Beniamino, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Bela, la nazione de’ Belaiti; di Asbel, la nazione degli Asbeliti; di Ahiram, la nazione degli Ahiramiti;	38 The sons of Benjamin by clans: for Bela, the Belaite clan; for Ashbel, the Ashbelite clan; for Ahiram,the Ahiramite clan;

41 Questi sono i figliuoli di Beniamino, distinti per le lor nazioni, de’ quali gli annoverati furono quarantacinquemila seicento.	41 These were the sons of Benjamin by clans. They numbered forty-five thousand six hundred men.
42 Questi sono i figliuoli di Dan, distinti per le lor famiglie: di Suham, discese la nazione de’ Suhamiti. Questa è la nazione de’ Daniti, distinta per le lor famiglie.	42 These were the sons of Dan by clans: for Shuham, the Shuhamite clan. These were the sons of Danby clans.
43 Tutte le famiglie de’ Suhamiti, secondo i loro annoverati, furono sessantaquattromila quattrocento.	43 All the Shuhamite clans numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred men.
44 I figliuoli di Aser, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, d’Imna, la nazione degli Imnaiti; d’Isui, la nazione degl’Isuiti; e di Beria, la nazione de’ Beriiti.	44 The sons of Asher by clans: for Imnah, the Imnahite clan; for Ishvi, the Ishvihite clan; for Beriah, theBeriahite clan.
45 E de’ figliuoli di Beria, di Heber, la nazione degli Hebriti; di Malchiel, la nazione de’ Malchieliti.	45 For the sons of Beriah: for Heber, the Heberite clan; for Malchiel, the Malchielite clan.
46 E il nome della figliuola di Aser fu Sera.	46 The daughter of Asher was called Serah.
47 Queste sono le nazioni de’ figliuoli di Aser, secondo i loro annoverati, che furono cinquantatremila quattrocento.	47 These were the clans of Asher. They numbered fifty-three thousand four hundred men.
48 I figliuoli di Neftali, distinti per le lor nazioni, furono, di Giaseel, la nazione de’ Giaseeliti; di Guni, la nazione de’ Guniti;	48 The sons of Naphtali by clans: for Jahzeel, the Jahzeelite clan; for Guni, the Gunite clan;
49 di Geser, la nazione de’ Geseriti; e di Sillem, la nazione de’ Sillemiti.	49 for Jezer, the Jezerite clan; for Shil em, the Shil emite clan.
50 Queste sono le nazioni di Neftali, distinte per le lor famiglie; e gli annoverati d’infra loro furono quarantacinquemila quattrocento.	50 These were the clans of Naphtali as divided into clans. The sons of Naphtali numbered forty-fivethousand four hundred men.
51 Questi sono gli annoverati de’ figliuoli d’Israele, in numero di seicentunmila settecentrenta	51 Of the Israelites thus numbered, there were six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirtymen.
52 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:	52 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,
53 Sia il paese spartito tra costoro per eredità, secondo il numero delle persone.	53 'The country must be shared out among these as a heritage, proportionately to the number of thoseinscribed.
54 Da’ maggiore eredità a chi è in maggior numero, e minore a chi è in minor numero; diasi a ciascuno eredità a ragione de’ suoi annoverati.	54 To the large in number you wil give a large area of land, to the smal in number a small area; toeach the heritage wil be in proportion to the number registered.
55 Ma pure spartiscasi il paese a sorte; e abbiano eredità secondo i nomi delle loro tribù paterne.	55 The sharing out of the country must, however, be done by lot. Each wil receive a heritageproportionate to the number of names in their patriarchal tribes;
56 Spartiscasi l’eredità di ciascuna tribù, grande o piccola, a sorte	56 the heritage of each tribe wil be shared out by lot, depending on its larger or smal er numbers.'
57 E questi sono gli annoverati d’infra i Leviti, distinti per le lor nazioni: di Gherson discese la nazione de’ Ghersoniti; di Chehat, la nazione de’ Chehatiti; di Merari, la nazione de’ Merariti.	57 These, by clans, are the Levites that were registered: for Gershon, the Gershonite clan; for Kohath,the Kohathite clan; for Merari, the Merarite clan.
58 Queste sono le nazioni de’ Leviti: la nazione de’ Libniti, la nazione degli Hebroniti, la nazione de’ Mahaliti, la nazione dei Musiti, e la nazione de’ Coriti. Or Chehat generò Amram.	58 These are the Levite clans: the Libnite clan, the Hebronite clan, the Mahlite clan, the Mushite clan,the Korahite clan. Kohath fathered Amram.
59 E il nome della moglie di Amram fu Iochebed, che fu figliuola di Levi, la qual gli nacque in Egitto; ed essa partorì ad Amram Aaronne, Mosè, e Maria, lor sorella.	59 Amram's wife was cal ed Jokebed daughter of Levi, born to him in Egypt. To Amram she boreAaron, Moses and Miriam their sister.
60 E ad Aaronne nacquero Nadab, e Abihu, ed Eleazaro, e Itamar.	60 Aaron fathered Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
61 Or Nadab e Abihu morirono quando presentarono fuoco strano davanti al Signore.	61 Nadab and Abihu died when they brought unauthorised fire before Yahweh.
62 E gli annoverati d’infra i Leviti furono ventitremila, tutti maschi, dall’età d’un mese in su; conciossiachè non fossero annoverati fra’ figliuoli d’Israele; perciocchè non era lor data eredità fra’ figliuoli d’Israele	62 Altogether twenty-three thousand males of one month and over were registered. They were notregistered with the Israelites, since they were given no heritage with the Israelites.
63 Questi sono quelli che furono annoverati da Mosè, e dal Sacerdote Eleazaro, i quali annoverarono i figliuoli d’Israele nelle campagne di Moab, presso al Giordano di Gerico.	63 Such were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar who took a census of the Israeliteson the Plains of Moab near the Jordan by Jericho.
64 E fra costoro non vi fu alcuno di quelli ch’erano stati annoverati da Mosè, e dal Sacerdote Aaronne, i quali annoverarono i figliuoli d’Israele nel deserto di Sinai.	64 Not one of them was among those whom Moses and the priest Aaron had registered when theycounted the Israelites in the desert of Sinai;
65 Conciossiachè il Signore avesse detto di quelli: Del tutto morranno nel deserto. Onde non ne rimase alcuno, salvo Caleb, figliuolo di Gefunne; e Giosuè, figliuolo di Nun	65 for Yahweh had told them that these were to die in the desert and that none of them would be leftexcept Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
