DIODATI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 NELL’anno decimo, nel duodecimo giorno del mese, la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzato, dicendo:	1 On the twelfth day of the tenth month in the tenth year, the word of the LORD came to me:
2 Figliuol d’uomo, volgi la tua faccia contro a Faraone, re di Egitto, e profetizza contro a lui, e contro a tutto l’Egitto.	2 Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.
3 Parla, e di’: Così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Eccomi sopra te, Faraone, re di Egitto, gran coccodrillo, che giaci in mezzo de’ tuoi fiumi; che hai detto: Il mio fiume è mio; ed io mi son fatto me stesso.	3 Say this to him: Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am coming at you, Pharaoh, king of Egypt, Great crouching monster amidst your Niles: Who say, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them!"
4 E ti metterò de’ graffi nelle mascelle, e farò che il pesce de’ tuoi fiumi si attaccherà alle tue scaglie, e ti trarrò fuor di mezzo de’ tuoi fiumi, e tutto il pesce de’ tuoi fiumi resterà attaccato alle tue scaglie.	4 I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your Niles stick to your scales, then draw you up from the midst of your Niles along with all the fish of your Niles sticking to your scales.
5 E ti esporrò in abbandono nel deserto, te, e tutto il pesce dei tuoi fiumi; tu caderai sopra la campagna, tu non sarai nè raccolto, nè ricercato; io ti ho dato per pasto alle fiere della terra, ed agli uccelli del cielo.	5 I will cast you into the desert, you and all the fish of your Niles; You shall fall upon the open field, you shall not be taken up or buried; To the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air I give you as food,
6 E tutti gli abitatori di Egitto conosceranno che io sono il Signore; perciocchè sono stati un sostegno di canna alla casa d’Israele.	6 That all who dwell in Egypt may know that I am the LORD. Because you have been a reed staff for the house of Israel:
7 Quando essi ti han preso in mano, tu ti sei rotto, ed hai lor forato tutto il costato; e quando si sono appoggiati sopra te, tu ti sei spezzato, e li hai tutti lasciati star ritti sopra i lombi	7 When they held you in hand, you splintered, throwing every shoulder out of joint; When they leaned on you, you broke, bringing each one of them down headlong;
8 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, io fo venir sopra te la spada, e distruggerò di te uomini e bestie.	8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See! I will bring the sword against you, and cut off from you both man and beast.
9 E il paese di Egitto sarà ridotto in desolazione, e in deserto; e si conoscerà che io sono il Signore; perciocchè egli ha detto: Il fiume è mio, ed io l’ho fatto.	9 The land of Egypt shall become a desolate waste; thus they shall know that I am the LORD. Because you said, "The Niles are mine; it is I who made them,"
10 Perciò, eccomi contro a te, e contro al tuo fiume; e ridurrò il paese di Egitto in deserto di solitudine, e di desolazione, da Migdol a Sevene, fino al confine di Etiopia.	10 therefore see! I am coming at you and against your Niles; I will make the land of Egypt a waste and a desolation from Migdol to Syene, and even to the frontier of Ethiopia.
11 Alcun piè, nè d’uomo, nè di bestia, non passerà per esso; e resterà quarant’anni senza essere abitato.	11 No foot of man or beast shall pass through it; they shall not pass through it, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
12 E ridurrò il paese di Egitto in desolazione, fra i paesi desolati; e le sue città saranno distrutte, fra le città deserte, lo spazio di quarant’anni; ed io dispergerò gli Egizi fra le genti, e li sventolerò fra i paesi.	12 I will make the land of Egypt the most desolate of lands, and its cities shall be the most deserted of cities for forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and strew them over foreign lands.
13 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: In capo di quarant’anni, io raccoglierò gli Egizi d’infra i popoli, dove saranno stati dispersi.	13 Yet thus says the Lord GOD: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they are scattered,
14 E ritrarrò di cattività gli Egizi, e li ricondurrò nel paese di Patros, nel lor paese natio; e quivi saranno un regno basso.	14 and I will restore Egypt's fortune, bringing them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin, where it will be the lowliest
15 Esso sarà basso, più che alcun altro regno, e non si eleverà più sopra le genti; io li farò piccoli, acciocchè non signoreggino più sopra le nazioni.	15 of kingdoms, never more to set itself above the nations. I will make them few, that they may not dominate the nations.
16 E l’Egitto non sarà più alla casa d’Israele per confidanza, per far che sia ricordata l’iniquità, commessa in ciò ch’esso ha riguardato dietro a loro; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore Iddio	16 No longer shall they be for the house of Israel to trust in, but the living reminder of its guilt for having turned to follow after them. Thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
17 Or avvenne, nell’anno ventisettesimo, nel primo giorno del primo mese, che la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo:	17 On the first day of the first month in the twenty-seventh year, the word of the LORD came to me:
18 Figliuol d’uomo, Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, ha adoperato il suo esercito in grave servitù contro a Tiro; ogni testa n’è stata dipelata, ed ogni spalla scorticata; e nè egli, nè il suo esercito, non hanno avuto alcun premio per Tiro, della servitù, nella quale si sono adoperati contro ad essa.	18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has led his army in an exhausting campaign against Tyre. Their heads became bald and their shoulders were galled; but neither he nor his army received any wages from Tyre for the campaign he led against it.
19 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Ecco, io dono a Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, il paese di Egitto; ed egli ne menerà via il popolo, e ne spoglierà le spoglie, e ne prederà la preda; e ciò sarà il premio del suo esercito.	19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: I am now giving the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. He shall carry off its riches, plundering and pillaging it for the wages of his soldiers, who did it for me;
20 Io gli ho dato il paese di Egitto, per premio dell’opera sua, nella quale si è adoperato contro ad essa; conciossiachè abbiano operato per me, dice il Signore Iddio.	20 as payment for his toil I have given him the land of Egypt, says the Lord GOD.
21 In quel giorno, io farò rigermogliare il corno della casa d’Israele, e a te darò, apritura di bocca in mezzo di loro; e conosceranno che io sono il Signore	21 On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will cause you to speak out in their midst; thus they shall know that I am the LORD.
