DIODATI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Mandate l’agnello di colui che domina nel paese, da Sela, che è inverso il deserto, al monte della figliuola di Sion.	1 Send them forth, hugging the earth like reptiles, from Sela across the desert, to the mount of daughter Zion.
2 Ed egli avverrà, che le figliuole di Moab saranno a’ guadi dell’Arnon, come un uccello ramingo, come una nidiata scacciata.	2 Like flushed birds, like startled nestlings, Are the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon.
3 Prendi un consiglio, o Moab, fa’ un decreto; fa’ che la tua ombra, in pien mezzodì, sia come la notte; nascondi quelli che sono scacciati, non palesare i fuggitivi.	3 Offer counsel, take their part: at high noon let your shadow be like the night, To hide the outcasts, to conceal the fugitives.
4 Que’ del mio popolo che sono scacciati, dimorino appresso di te; o Moab, sii loro un nascondimento dal guastatore; perciocchè colui che usava storsioni verrà meno, e il guastamento finirà, e coloro che calpestavano gli altri saran consumati d’in su la terra.	4 Let the outcasts of Moab live with you, be their shelter from the destroyer. When the struggle is ended, the ruin complete, and they have done with trampling the land,
5 E il trono sarà stabilito in benignità; e sopra quello sederà stabilmente, nel tabernacolo di Davide, uno che giudicherà, e ricercherà la ragione, e sarà pronto a far giustizia	5 A throne shall be set up in mercy, and on it shall sit in fidelity (in David's tent) A judge upholding right and prompt to do justice.
6 Noi abbiamo intesa la superbia di Moab, grandemente superbo; il suo orgoglio, e la sua alterezza, e la sua indegnazione; le sue menzogne non saranno cosa ferma.	6 We have heard of the pride of Moab, how very proud he is, With his haughty, arrogant insolence that his empty words do not match.
7 Perciò, l’un Moabita urlerà all’altro; tutti quanti urleranno; voi gemerete per li fondamenti di Chir-hareset, essendo voi stessi feriti.	7 Therefore Moab wails for Moab, everywhere they wail; For the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth they sigh, stricken with grief.
8 Perciocchè le campagne di Hesbon, e le vigne di Sibma languiscono; i padroni delle nazioni hanno tritate le viti eccellenti di essa, le quali arrivavano infino a Iazer, e scorrevano qua e là per lo deserto; e le sue propaggini, che si spandevano, e passavano di là dal mare.	8 The terraced slopes of Heshbon languish, the vines of Sibmah, Whose clusters overpowered the lords of nations, While they reached as far as Jazer and scattered over the desert, And whose branches spread forth and extended over the sea.
9 Perciò, io piangerò le vigne di Sibma del pianto di Iazer; o Hesbon, ed Eleale, io ti righerò delle mie lagrime; perciocchè le grida di allegrezza per li tuoi frutti di state, e per la tua ricolta, son venute meno.	9 Therefore I weep with Jazer for the vines of Sibmah; I water you with tears, Heshbon and Elealeh; For on your summer fruits and harvests the battle cry has fallen.
10 E la letizia, e la festa è tolta via dal campo fertile; e non si canta, nè si giubila più nelle vigne; il pigiatore non pigia più il vino ne’ tini; io ho fatte cessare, dice il Signore, le grida da inanimare.	10 From the orchards are taken away joy and gladness, In the vineyards there is no singing, no shout of joy; In the wine presses no one treads grapes, the vintage shout is stilled.
11 Perciò, le mie viscere romoreggeranno a guisa di cetera, per cagion di Moab; e le mie interiora, per cagion di Chir-heres.	11 Therefore for Moab my breast moans like a lyre, and my heart for Kir-hareseth.
12 Ed avverrà che, quantunque Moab si presenti, e si affatichi sopra il suo alto luogo, e venga al suo santuario, per fare orazione; pur non potrà avanzar nulla.	12 When Moab grows weary on the high places, he shall enter his sanctuary to pray, but it shall avail him nothing.
13 Quest’è la parola che il Signore ha detta contro a Moab, ab antico.	13 This is the word the LORD spoke against Moab in times past.
14 Ed ora il Signore ha parlato, dicendo: Infra tre anni, quale è il termine degli anni d’un servitore tolto a prezzo, la gloria di Moab sarà avvilita, insieme con tutta la sua gran moltitudine di popolo; e il rimanente sarà in poco numero, piccolo, e non grande. Il carico di Damasco	14 But now the LORD has spoken: In three years, like those of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be degraded despite all its great multitude; there shall be a remnant, very small and weak.
