DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 COSÌ tutti gl’Israeliti furono annoverati per le lor generazioni; ed ecco, sono descritti nel libro dei re d’Israele. Ora, dopo che que’ di Giuda furono stati menati in cattività in Babilonia, per li lor misfatti;	1 Thus, al Israel's official genealogies had been entered in the records of the kings of Israel and Judahbefore they were deported to Babylon for their infidelity.
2 e che i primieri abitatori, ch’erano altre volte dimorati nelle lor possessioni, furono ritornati nelle lor città: Israeliti, sacerdoti, Leviti, e Netinei;	2 Now the first citizens to return to their property in their cities were the Israelites, the priests, the Levitesand the temple slaves.
3 in Gerusalemme abitarono dei figliuoli di Giuda, e de’ figliuoli di Beniamino, e de’ figliuoli di Efraim e di Manasse:	3 In Jerusalem, there settled Judaeans, Benjaminites, Ephraimites and Manassehites.
4 Utai, figliuolo di Ammihud, figliuolo di Omri, figliuolo d’Imri, figliuolo di Bani, de’ figliuoli di Fares, figliuolo di Giuda.	4 Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, one of the sons of Perez son of Judah.
5 E de’ Siloniti: Asaia il primogenito, ed i suoi figliuoli.	5 Of the descendants of Shelah: Asaiah, the first-born, and his sons.
6 E de’ figliuoli di Zara: Ieuel, ed i suoi fratelli in numero di seicennovanta.	6 Of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel. And six hundred and ninety of their kinsmen.

9 ed i lor fratelli, spartiti per le lor generazioni, in numero di novecencinquantasei; tutti coloro furono capi di famiglie paterne della casa de’ lor padri.	9 Their kinsmen, according to their relationship, numbered nine hundred and fifty-six. Al these men werechiefs of their families.
10 E de’ sacerdoti: Iedaia, e Ioiarib, e Iachin;	10 Of the priests there were Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin,
11 ed Azaria, figliuolo d’Hilchia, figliuolo di Mesullam, figliuolo di Sadoc, figliuolo di Meraiot, figliuolo di Ahitub, conduttore della Casa di Dio.	11 Azariah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshul am, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, the chief ofthe Temple of God;
12 Ed Adaia, figliuolo di Ieroham, figliuolo di Pashur, figliuolo di Malchia; e Masai, figliuolo di Adiel, figliuolo di Iazera, figliuolo di Mesullam, figliuolo di Messillemit, figliuolo d’Immer;	12 Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah; and Maasai son of Adiel, son of Jahzerah,son of Meshullam, son of Meshil emith, son of Immer.
13 co’ lor fratelli, capi delle lor famiglie paterne, in numero di millesettecensessanta, uomini prodi e valenti, per l’opera del servigio della Casa di Dio	13 Their kinsmen, heads of families, numbered one thousand seven hundred and sixty-men expert in theministerial service of the Temple of God.
14 E de’ Leviti: Semaia, figliuolo di Hassub, figliuolo di Azricam, figliuolo di Hasabia, de’ figliuoli di Merari.	14 Of the Levites there were Shemaiah son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah of the sons ofMerari,
15 E Bacbaccar, ed Heres, e Galal, e Mattania, figliuolo di Mica, figliuolo di Zicri, figliuolo di Asaf;	15 Bakbakar, Heresh, Galai, Mattaniah son of Mica, son of Zichri, son of Asaph.
16 ed Obaidia, figliuolo di Semaia, figliuolo di Galal, figliuolo di Iedutun; e Berechia, figliuolo di Asa, figliuolo di Elcana, il quale abitò nelle villate de’ Netofatiti.	16 Obadiah son of Shemaiah, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun and Berechiah son of Asa, son of Elkanah,who lived in the dependencies of the Netophathites.
17 E de’ portinai: Sallum, ed Accub, e Talmon, ed Ahiman, co’ lor fratelli, dei quali fu capo Sallum;	17 The gatekeepers were Shal um, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their kinsmen. Shal um was the chief
18 e lo è infino ad ora, ed ha la guardia della porta del re, verso Oriente; costoro furono portinai, fra le schiere de’ figliuoli di Levi;	18 and is stil gatekeeper of the King's Gate to the east. They were the gatekeepers of the camps of thesons of Levi.
19 come Sallum, figliuolo di Core, figliuolo di Ebiasaf, figliuolo di Core, ed i suoi fratelli Coriti, della casa paterna di esso, nell’opera del ministerio erano stati guardiani della soglia del Tabernacolo; come i lor padri nel campo del Signore, erano stati guardiani dell’entrata;	19 Shallum son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his brothers belonging to his family, theKorahites, were also in charge of the ministerial service as doorkeepers of the Tent, as their ancestors had beenkeepers of the entrance to the camp of Yahweh.
20 e Finees, figliuolo di Eleazaro, col quale il Signore era, anticamente era stato conduttore sopra loro;	20 Formerly, Phinehas son of Eleazar had been in charge of them -- Yahweh be with him!
21 e come Zaccaria, figliuolo di Meselemia, era stato portinaio dell’entrata del Tabernacolo della convenenza.	21 Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
22 Tutti questi sono quelli che furono scelti per portinai nelle soglie, in numero di dugento dodici. Essi furono annoverati per le lor generazioni nelle lor villate. Or Davide, e il veggente Samuele, li aveano stabiliti nell’ufficio loro.	22 Al the keepers of the gate at the thresholds were picked men; there were two hundred and twelve ofthem. They were grouped by relationship in their various vil ages. These were confirmed in office by David and Samuel the seer because of their dependability.
23 Ed essi, e i lor figliuoli, erano costituiti sopra le porte della Casa del Signore, della Casa del Tabernacolo, per far la guardia a vicenda.	23 They and their sons continued in charge as guards of the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, the houseof the Tent.
24 I portinai erano disposti per li quattro venti: dall’Oriente, dall’Occidente, dal Settentrione, e dal Mezzodì.	24 The gatekeepers were assigned to the four sides, east, west, north and south,
25 E i lor fratelli, ch’erano nelle lor villate, aveano da venire a dimorar con essi per sette giorni, di tempo in tempo.	25 and their brothers in their vil ages were required to assist them from time to time for a week,
26 Perciocchè quei quattro maggiori portinai Leviti erano del continuo in ufficio, ed aveano la cura delle camere, e tesori della Casa di Dio.	26 since the four head gatekeepers were permanently on duty. They were Levites and were in charge ofthe accommodation and supplies of the Temple of God.
27 E giacevano la notte intorno alla Casa di Dio; perciocchè la guardia ne era loro imposta, ed aveano il carico di aprirla ogni mattina.	27 They spent the night in the precincts of the Temple of God, their duties being to guard it and open itevery morning.
28 Ed alcuni di loro aveano la cura dei vasellamenti del servigio; perciocchè si portavano dentro a conto, e si traevano altresì fuori a conto.	28 Some of them were in charge of the implements of worship, having to count them when they tookthem out and when they put them away.
29 Ed altri di loro erano costituiti sopra le altre masserizie, e sopra tutti gli arredi sacri, e sopra il fior della farina, e sopra il vino, e sopra l’olio, e sopra l’incenso, e sopra gli aromati.	29 Others of them were put in charge of the implements, of al the objects in the sanctuary and of theflour, the wine, the oil, the incense and the perfume.
30 Ma quelli che componevano il profumo degli aromati, erano de’ figliuoli de’ sacerdoti.	30 Members of the priestly caste, however, mixed the ointment for the perfume.
31 E d’infra i Leviti, Mattitia, primogenito di Sallum, Corita, avea il carico di ciò che si coceva in su la tegghia.	31 One of the Levites, Mattithiah -- he was the first-born of Shal um the Korahite -- had regular charge ofbaking operations.
32 E d’infra i lor fratelli, figliuoli de’ Chehatiti, alcuni aveano la cura de’ pani disposti per ordine, per apparecchiarli ogni sabato.	32 Some of their kinsmen the Kohathites were responsible for the loaves to be set out in rows Sabbathby Sabbath.
33 Altri eziandio erano cantori, capi di famiglie paterne de’ Leviti, i quali stavano nelle camere, esenti d’altra cura; perciocchè l’ufficio loro richiedeva che fossero giorno e notte in opera.	33 In addition, there were the singers, the heads of the levitical families, who were accommodated in theTemple, free of other responsibilities because they were on duty day and night.
34 Questi furono i capi delle famiglie paterne dei Leviti, capi delle lor generazioni. Essi abitarono in Gerusalemme	34 Such were the chiefs of the levitical families, according to their relationship; these lived in Jerusalem.
35 Or in Gabaon abitò Ieiel, padre di Gabaon; ed il nome della sua moglie era Maaca.	35 Jeiel father of Gibeon lived at Gibeon and his wife was cal ed Maacah.
36 E il suo figliuolo primogenito fu Abdon; poi ebbe Sur, e Chis,	36 His first-born son was Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 e Baal, e Ner, e Nadab, e Ghedor, ed Ahio, e Zaccaria, e Miclot.	37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah and Mikloth.
38 E Miclot generò Simeam; ed essi abitarono dirimpetto ai lor fratelli in Gerusalemme, co’ lor fratelli.	38 Mikloth fathered Shimeam. But they, unlike their brothers, lived at Jerusalem with their brothers.
39 E Ner generò Chis, e Chis generò Saulle, e Saulle generò Gionatan, e Malchi-sua, ed Abinadab, ed Esbaal.	39 Ner fathered Kish, Kish fathered Saul, Saul fathered Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab and Eshbaal.
40 E il figliuolo di Gionatan fu Merib-baal; e Merib-baal generò Mica.	40 Son of Jonathan: Meribbaal. Meribbaal fathered Micah.
41 Ed i figliuoli di Mica furono Piton, e Melec, e Tarea, ed Achaz,	41 Sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea.
42 il quale generò Iara. E Iara generò Alemet, ed Azmavet, e Zimri; e Zimri generò Mosa.	42 Ahaz fathered Jarah, Jarah fathered Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri; Zimri fathered Moza,
43 E Mosa generò Bina, di cui fu figliuolo Refaia, di cui fu figliuolo Elasa, di cui fu figliuolo Asel.	43 Moza fathered Binea, Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
44 Ed Asel ebbe sei figliuoli, i cui nomi sono: Azricam, e Bocru, ed Ismaele, e Searia, ed Obadia, ed Hanan. Questi furono i figliuoli di Asel	44 Azel had six sons; their names were these: Azrikam his first-born, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah,Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
