1 OR questi furono i figliuoli di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele perciocchè egli era il primogenito; ma dopo ch’ebbe contaminato il letto di suo padre, la sua primogenitura fu data a’ figliuoli di Giuseppe, figliuolo d’Israele; non però per tenere il luogo della primogenitura nella genealogia.	1 Also, there were the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel. For indeed, he was his firstborn, but when he had violated the bed of his father, his right as firstborn was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, and he was not reputed as firstborn.
2 Perciocchè Giuda ebbe la maggioranza sopra i suoi fratelli; e di lui sono usciti i conduttori; ma il diritto della primogenitura fu dato a Giuseppe.	2 Moreover, Judah, who was strongest among his brothers, from his stock leaders sprung up, but the right of firstborn was reputed to Joseph.
3 I figliuoli, dico, di Ruben, primogenito d’Israele, furono Hanoc, e Pallu, Hesron, e Carmi.	3 So then, the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.
4 Il figliuolo di Ioel fu Semaia, di cui fu figliuolo Gog, di cui fu figliuolo Simi,	4 The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 di cui fu figliuolo Mica, di cui fu figliuolo Reaia, di cui fu figliuolo Baal,	5 Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
6 di cui fu figliuolo Beera, il quale Tilgat-pilneser, re degli Assiri, meno in cattività. Esso fu capo principale de’ Rubeniti.	6 Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser, the king of the Assyrians, led away captive, and he was a leader in the tribe of Reuben.
7 E de’ suoi fratelli, per le lor famiglie, quando la lor genealogia fu composta per le lor generazioni, i capi furono Ieiel, e Zaccaria, e Bela,	7 Now his brothers and all his kindred, when they were being numbered according to their families, had as leaders Jeiel and Zechariah.
8 figliuolo di Azaz, figliuolo di Sema, figliuolo di Ioel. Esso abitò in Aroer, fino a Nebo, ed a Baal-meon.	8 Now Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, lived in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baalmeon.
9 Dipoi egli abitò verso il Levante, dal fiume Eufrate, fino all’entrata del deserto; perciocchè i lor bestiami erano moltiplicati nel paese di Galaad.	9 And he lived toward the eastern region, as far as the entrance to the wilderness and the river Euphrates. For indeed, they possessed a great number of cattle in the land of Gilead.
10 Laonde, al tempo di Saulle, fecero guerra contro agli Hagareni, i quali caddero uccisi per le lor mani; ed essi abitarono nelle loro stanze, lungo tutta la parte orientale di Galaad.	10 Then, in the days of Saul, they battled against the Hagarites and put them to death. And they lived in place of them, in their dwellings, throughout the entire region that looks to the east of Gilead.
11 E I figliuoli di Gad abitarono dirimpetto a loro, nel paese di Basan, fino a Salca.	11 Truly, the sons of Gad lived in the opposite region from them, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah:
12 Ioel fu il capo principale in Basan, e Safan, il secondo; poi Ianai, poi Safat.	12 Joel the head, and Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat, in Bashan.
13 E i lor fratelli, secondo le famiglie loro paterne, furono Micael, e Mesullam, e Seba, e Iorai, e Iacan, e Zia, ed Eber; sette in tutto.	13 Truly, their brothers, according to the houses of their kindred, were: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
14 Questi erano figliuoli di Abihail, figliuolo di Huri, figliuolo di Iaroa, figliuolo di Galaad, figliuolo di Micael, figliuolo di Iesisai, figliuolo di Iado, figliuolo di Buz.	14 These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz,
15 Ahi, figliuolo di Abdiel, figliuolo di Guni, fu il capo principale delle famiglie loro paterne.	15 along with their brothers, the sons of Abdiel, the son of Guni, the leader of the house, in their families,
16 Ed essi abitarono in Galaad, ed in Basan, e nelle terre del suo territorio, ed in tutto il contado di Saron, fino alle sue uscite.	16 And they lived in Gilead, and in Bashan and its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as the borders.
17 La genealogia di tutti costoro fu composta per le lor generazioni al tempo di Giotam, re di Giuda, ed al tempo di Geroboamo, re d’Israele	17 All these were numbered in the days of Jotham, the king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the king of Israel:
18 I figliuoli di Ruben, e i Gaditi, e la mezza tribù di Manasse, in numero di quarantaquattromila settecensessanta d’infra gli uomini prodi, che portavano scudo e spada, e tiravano l’arco, ed erano ammaestrati alla guerra, per uscir fuori in battaglia,	18 the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh, men of war, carrying shields and swords, and bending the bow, and trained for battle, forty-four thousand and seven hundred sixty, advancing to the fight.
19 fecero guerra agli Hagareni, ed a Ietur, ed a Nafis, ed a Nodab.	19 They struggled against the Hagarites, yet truly the Jetureans, and Naphish, and Nodab offered assistance to them.
20 Ed ebbero soccorso contro a loro; talchè gli Hagareni, e tutti quelli che erano con loro furono dati nelle lor mani; perciocchè essi gridarono a Dio nella battaglia, ed egli li esaudì; perciocchè si erano confidati in lui.	20 And the Hagarites were delivered into their hands, and all who were with them. For they called upon God while they did battle. And he heeded them, because they had trusted in him.
21 E presero i lor bestiami, in numero di cinquantamila cammelli, e dugencinquantamila pecore, duemila asini, e centomila anime umane.	21 And they seized all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand lives.
22 Perciocchè molti erano caduti uccisi; perchè quella battaglia era da Dio; ed essi abitarono in luogo loro fino al tempo della cattività.	22 And many fell down wounded. For it was a war of the Lord. And they lived in place of them, until the transmigration.
23 I FIGLIUOLI della mezza tribù di Manasse abitarono anch’essi in quel paese; e moltiplicarono da Basan fino a Baal-hermon, ed a Senir, ed alla montagna di Hermon.	23 Also, the sons of the one half tribe of Manasseh possessed the land, from the parts of Bashan as far as Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and Mount Hermon. For certainly, their number was immense.
24 E questi furono i capi delle lor famiglie paterne: Efer, ed Isi, ed Eliel, ed Azriel, e Geremia, ed Hodavia, e Iadiel, uomini di valore, e famosi, capi delle lor famiglie paterne.	24 And these were leaders of the house of their kindred: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, very valiant and powerful men, and renown leaders in their families.
25 Ma essi commisero misfatto contro all’Iddio de’ lor padri, e fornicarono dietro agl’iddii de’ popoli del paese, i quali il Signore avea distrutti d’innanzi a loro.	25 But they abandoned the God of their fathers, and they fornicated after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God took away before them.
26 Laonde l’Iddio d’Israele eccitò lo spirito di Pul, re degli Assiri; e lo spirito di Tilgat-pilneser, re degli Assiri, i quali ne menarono in cattività i Rubeniti, e i Gaditi, e la mezza tribù di Manasse; e li condussero in Hala, ed in Habor, ed in Hara, e presso al fiume Gozan, dove son restati fino al dì d’oggi	26 And so the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, the king of the Assyrians, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, the king of Assur. And he took away Reuben, and Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh. And he led them to Halah, and to Habor, and to Hara, and to the river of Gozan, even to this day.
