1 Samuel 29

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Los filisteos concentraron todas sus fuerzas en Aféc, y los israelitas acamparon junto a la fuente que está en Izreel.	1 The Philistines mustered al their forces at Aphek while the Israelites pitched camp near the spring inJezreel.
2 Los príncipes de los filisteos avanzaban al frente de divisiones de cien y de mil, mientras que David y sus hombres marchaban a la retaguardia con Aquís.	2 The Philistine commanders marched past with their hundreds and their thousands, and David and hismen brought up the rear with Achish.
3 Entonces los jefes filisteos preguntaron: «¿Qué hacen aquí esos hebreos?». Aquís les respondió: «¿No ven que es David, el servidor de Saúl, rey de Israel? Ya hace uno o dos años que está conmigo, y no lo he sorprendido en ninguna falla, desde que se pasó a mi servicio hasta el día de hoy».	3 The Philistine chiefs asked, 'What are these Hebrews doing?' Achish replied to them, 'Why, this isDavid the servant of Saul, king of Israel, who has been with me for the last year or two. I have had no fault to findwith him from the day he gave himself up to me until the present time.'
4 Pero los jefes filisteos se irritaron contra Aquís y le dijeron: «¡Despide a ese hombre! Que se vuelve al lugar que le has asignado y no baje a combatir con nosotros, no sea que lo tengamos como adversario en pleno combate. ¿Con qué va a congraciarse con su señor sino con la cabeza de estos hombres?	4 But the Philistine chiefs were angry with him. 'Send the man back,' they said, 'make him go back to theplace which you assigned to him. He cannot go into battle with us, in case he turns on us once battle is joined.Would there be a better way for the man to regain his master's favour than with the heads of these men here?
5 ¿No es él acaso ese David de quien decían, cantando y bailando: «Saúl ha matado a miles y David a decenas de miles?».	5 Is not this the David of whom they sang as they danced: Saul has kil ed his thousands, and David histens of thousands'?
6 Entonces Aquís llamó a David y le dijo: «¡Por la vida del Señor, tú eres un hombre derecho! Me gusta verte actuar conmigo en el ejército, porque no te he sorprendido en nada malo, desde que te presentaste a mí hasta el día de hoy. Pero tú no eres persona grata a los príncipes.	6 So Achish called David and said, 'As Yahweh lives, you are loyal, and I am quite content with al yourdoings in our campaigning together, since I have found no fault with you from the day you came to me until thepresent time. But you are not acceptable to the chiefs.
7 Por eso, vuélvete en paz, y así no harás nada que desagrade a los príncipes de los filisteos».	7 So go home, in peace, rather than antagonise them.'
8 David dijo a Aquís: «¿Qué he hecho? ¿Has sorprendido a tu servidor en alguna falla, desde que entré a tu servicio hasta hoy, para que no pueda ir a combatir contra los enemigos de mi señor, el rey?».	8 'But what have I done,' David asked Achish, 'what fault have you had to find with your servant from theday I entered your service to the present time, for me not to be al owed to go and fight the enemies of my lordthe king?'
9 Aquís respondió a David: «Sí, ya lo sé. Tú eres tan grato a mis ojos como un ángel de Dios. Pero los jefes filisteos han dicho que no subas con nosotros al combate.	9 In reply, Achish said to David, 'In my opinion, it is true, you are as good as an angel of God; but thePhilistine chiefs have said, "He must not go into battle with us."
10 Levántase entonces mañana bien temprano, tú y los servidores de tu señor que vinieron contigo, y váyanse de aquí apenas aclare».	10 So get up early tomorrow morning, with your master's servants who came with you, and go to theplace which I assigned to you. Do not harbour resentment, since personal y I have no fault to find with you. Getup early tomorrow morning and, as soon as it is light, be off.'
11 David y sus hombres se levantaron bien temprano, para partir de madrugada y regresar al país de los filisteos. Estos, por su parte, subieron a Izreel.	11 So David and his men got up early to leave at dawn and go back to Philistine territory. And thePhilistines marched on Jezreel.
