EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Por eso, tú que pretendes ser juez de los demás –no importa quién seas– no tienes excusa, porque al juzgar a otros, te condenas a ti mismo, ya que haces lo mismo que condenas.	1 So no matter who you are, if you pass judgement you have no excuse. It is yourself that you condemnwhen you judge others, since you behave in the same way as those you are condemning.
2 Sabemos que Dios juzga de acuerdo con la verdad a los que se comportan así,	2 We are well aware that people who behave like that are justly condemned by God.
3 Tú que juzgas a los que hacen esas cosas e incurres en lo mismo, ¿acaso piensas librarte del Juicio de Dios?	3 But you -- when you judge those who behave like this while you are doing the same yourself -- do youthink you wil escape God's condemnation?
4 ¿O desprecias la riqueza de la bondad de Dios, de su tolerancia y de su paciencia, sin reconocer que esa bondad te debe llevar a la conversión?	4 Or are you not disregarding his abundant goodness, tolerance and patience, failing to realise that this generosity of God is meant to bring you to repentance?
5 Por tu obstinación en no querer arrepentirte, vas acumulando ira para el día de la ira, cuando se manifiesten los justos juicios de Dios,	5 Your stubborn refusal to repent is only storing up retribution for yourself on that Day of retribution whenGod's just verdicts wil be made known.
6 que retribuirá a cada uno según sus obras.	6 He wil repay everyone as their deeds deserve.
7 El dará la Vida eterna a los que por su constancia en la práctica del bien, buscan la gloria, el honor y la inmortalidad.	7 For those who aimed for glory and honour and immortality by persevering in doing good, there will beeternal life;
8 En cambio, castigará con la ira y la violencia a los rebeldes, a los que no se someten a la verdad y se dejan arrastrar por la injusticia.	8 but for those who out of jealousy have taken for their guide not truth but injustice, there wil be the furyof retribution.
9 Es decir, habrá tribulación y angustia para todos los que hacen el mal: para los judíos en primer lugar, y también para los que no lo son.	9 Trouble and distress wil come to every human being who does evil -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel ;
10 Y habrá gloria, honor y paz para todos los que obran el bien: para los judíos, en primer lugar, y también para los que no lo son,	10 glory and honour and peace will come to everyone who does good -- Jews first, but Greeks as wel .
11 porque Dios no hace acepción de personas.	11 There is no favouritism with God.
12 En efecto, todos los que hayan pecado sin tener la Ley de Moisés perecerán sin esa Ley; y los que hayan pecado teniendo la Ley serán juzgados por ella,	12 Al those who have sinned without the Law wil perish without the Law; and those under the Law whohave sinned wil be judged by the Law.
13 porque a los ojos de Dios, no son justos los que oyen la Ley, sino los que la practican.	13 For the ones that God wil justify are not those who have heard the Law but those who have kept theLaw.
14 Cuando los paganos, que no tienen la Ley, guiados por la naturaleza, cumplen las prescripciones de la Ley, aunque no tengan la Ley, ellos son ley para sí mismos,	14 So, when gentiles, not having the Law, still through their own innate sense behave as the Lawcommands, then, even though they have no Law, they are a law for themselves.
15 y demuestran que lo que ordena la Ley está inscrito en sus corazones. Así lo prueba el testimonio de su propia conciencia, que unas veces los acusa y otras los disculpa,	15 They can demonstrate the effect of the Law engraved on their hearts, to which their own consciencebears witness; since they are aware of various considerations, some of which accuse them, while others providethem with a defence . . . on the day when,
16 hasta el Día en que Dios juzgará las intenciones ocultas de los hombres por medio de Cristo Jesús, conforme a la Buena Noticia que yo predico.	16 according to the gospel that I preach, God, through Jesus Christ, judges all human secrets.
17 Pero tú, que te precias de ser judío; tú que te apoyas en la Ley y te glorías en Dios;	17 If you can cal yourself a Jew, and you real y trust in the Law, and are proud of your God,
18 tú que dices conocer su voluntad e, instruido por la Ley, pretendes discernir lo mejor,	18 and know his wil , and tel right from wrong because you have been taught by the Law;
19 presumiendo ser guía de ciegos y luz para los que andan en tinieblas;	19 if you are confident that you are a guide to the blind and a beacon to those in the dark,
20 tú que instruyes a los ignorantes y eres maestro de los simples, porque tienes en la Ley la norma de la ciencia y de la verdad;	20 that you can teach the ignorant and instruct the unlearned because the Law embodies all knowledgeand all truth-
21 ¡tú, que enseñas a los otros, no te enseñas a ti mismo!	21 so then, in teaching others, do you teach yourself as wel ? You preach that there is to be no stealing,but do you steal?
22 Tú, que condenas el adulterio, también lo cometes. Tú, que aborreces a los ídolos, saqueas sus templos.	22 You say that adultery is forbidden, but do you commit adultery? You detest the worship of objects, butdo you desecrate holy things yourself?
23 Tú, que te glorías en la Ley, deshonras a Dios violando la Ley.	23 If, while you are boasting of the Law, you disobey it, then you are bringing God into contempt.
24 Porque como dice la Escritura: "Por culpa de ustedes, el nombre de Dios es blasfemado entre las naciones".	24 As scripture says: It is your fault that the name of God is held in contempt among the nations.
25 La circuncisión es útil se practicas la Ley, pero si no la practicas, es lo mismo que si fueras un incircunciso.	25 Circumcision has its value if you keep the Law; but if you go on breaking the Law, you are no morecircumcised than the uncircumcised.
26 Al contrario, el que no está circuncidado, pero observa las prescripciones de la Ley, será tenido por un verdadero circunciso.	26 And if an uncircumcised man keeps the commands of the Law, wil not his uncircumcised state countas circumcision?
27 Más aún, el que físicamente no está circuncidado pero observa la Ley, te juzgará a ti, que teniendo la letra de la Ley y la circuncisión, no practicas la Ley.	27 More, the man who, in his native uncircumcised state, keeps the Law, is a condemnation of you, who,by your concentration on the letter and on circumcision, actual y break the Law.
28 Porque no es verdadero judío el que lo es exteriormente, ni la verdadera circuncisión es la que se nota en la carne.	28 Being a Jew is not only having the outward appearance of a Jew, and circumcision is not only avisible physical operation.
29 El verdadero judío lo es interiormente, y la verdadera circuncisión es la del corazón, la que se hace según el espíritu y no según la letra de la Ley. A este le corresponde la alabanza, no de los hombres, sino de Dios.	29 The real Jew is the one who is inwardly a Jew, and real circumcision is in the heart, a thing not of theletter but of the spirit. He may not be praised by any human being, but he wil be praised by God.
