EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Jesús fue al monte de los Olivos.	1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 Al amanecer volvió al Templo, y todo el pueblo acudía a el. Entonces se sentó y comenzó a enseñarles.	2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 Los escribas y los fariseos le trajeron a una mujer que había sido sorprendida en adulterio y, poniéndola en medio de todos,	3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 dijeron a Jesús: «Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante adulterio.	4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Moisés, en la Ley, nos ordenó apedrear a esta clase de mujeres. Y tú, ¿qué dices?».	5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 Decían esto para ponerlo a prueba, a fin de poder acusarlo. Pero Jesús, inclinándose, comenzó a escribir en el suelo con el dedo.	6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 Como insistían, se enderezó y les dijo: «El que no tenga pecado, que arroje la primera piedra».	7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 E inclinándose nuevamente, siguió escribiendo en el suelo.	8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 Al oír estas palabras, todos se retiraron, uno tras otro, comenzando por los más ancianos. Jesús quedó solo con la mujer, que permanecía allí,	9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 e incorporándose, le preguntó: «Mujer, ¿dónde están tus acusadores? ¿Alguien te ha condenado?».	10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 Ella le respondió: «Nadie, Señor». «Yo tampoco te condeno, le dijo Jesús. Vete, no peques más en adelante».	11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12 Jesús les dirigió una vez más la palabra, diciendo: «Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me sigue no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la Vida».	12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale».	13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14 Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo doy testimonio de mí, mi testimonio vale porque sé de dónde vine y a dónde voy; pero ustedes no saben de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy.	14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Ustedes juzgan según la carne; yo no juzgo a nadie,	15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 y si lo hago, mi juicio vale porque no soy yo solo el que juzga, sino yo y el Padre que me envió.	16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 En la Ley de ustedes está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido.	17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 Yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, y también el Padre que me envió da testimonio de mí».	18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
19 Ellos le preguntaron: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?». Jesús respondió: «Ustedes no me conocen ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieran a mí, conocerían también a mi Padre».	19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
20 El pronunció estas palabras en la sala del Tesoro, cuando enseñaba en el Templo. Y nadie lo detuvo, porque aún no había llegado su hora.	20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
21 Jesús les dijo también: «Yo me voy, y ustedes me buscarán y morirán en su pecado. Adonde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir».	21 Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come.
22 Los judíos se preguntaban: «¿Pensará matarse para decir: «Adonde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir»?	22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come.
23 Jesús continuó: «Ustedes son de aquí abajo, yo soy de lo alto. Ustedes son de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.	23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 Por eso les he dicho: "Ustedes morirán en sus pecados". Porque si no creen que Yo Soy, morirán en sus pecados».	24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
25 Los judíos le preguntaron: «¿Quién eres tú?». Jesús les respondió: «Esto es precisamente lo que les estoy diciendo desde el comienzo.	25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.
26 De ustedes, tengo mucho que decir, mucho que juzgar. Pero aquel que me envió es veraz, y lo que aprendí de él es lo que digo al mundo».	26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him.
27 Ellos no comprendieron que Jesús se refería al Padre.	27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father.
28 Después les dijo: «Cuando ustedes hayan levantado en alto al Hijo del hombre, entonces sabrán que Yo Soy y que no hago nada por mí mismo, sino que digo lo que el Padre me enseñó.	28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
29 El que me envió está conmigo y no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que le agrada».	29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
30 Mientras hablaba así, muchos creyeron en él.	30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Jesús dijo a aquellos judíos que habían creído en él: «Si ustedes permanecen fieles a mi palabra, serán verdaderamente mis discípulos:	31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 conocerán la verdad y la verdad los hará libres».	32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 Ellos le respondieron: «Somos descendientes de Abraham y jamás hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo puedes decir entonces: "Ustedes serán libres"»?.	33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesús les respondió: «Les aseguro que todo el que peca es esclavo del pecado.	34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 El esclavo no permanece para siempre en la casa; el hijo, en cambio, permanece para siempre.	35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 Por eso, si el Hijo los libera, ustedes serán realmente libres.	36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 Yo sé que ustedes son descendientes de Abraham, pero tratan de matarme porque mi palabra no penetra en ustedes.	37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38 Yo digo lo que he visto junto a mi Padre, y ustedes hacen lo que han aprendido de su padre».	38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39 Ellos le replicaron: «Nuestro padre es Abraham». Y Jesús les dijo: «Si ustedes fueran hijos de Abraham obrarían como él.	39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 Pero ahora quieren matarme a mí, al hombre que les dice la verdad que ha oído de Dios. Abraham no hizo eso.	40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Pero ustedes obran como su padre». Ellos le dijeron: «Nosotros no hemos nacido de la prostitución; tenemos un solo Padre, que es Dios». Jesús prosiguió:	41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 «Si Dios fuera su Padre, ustedes me amarían, porque yo he salido de Dios y vengo de él. No he venido por mí mismo, sino que él me envió.	42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 ¿Por qué ustedes no comprenden mi lenguaje? Es porque no pueden escuchar mi palabra.	43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ustedes tienen por padre al demonio y quieren cumplir los deseos de su padre. Desde el comienzo él fue homicida y no tiene nada que ver con la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él. Cuando miente, habla conforme a lo que es, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.	44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 Pero a mí no me creen, porque les digo la verdad.	45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 ¿Quién de ustedes probará que tengo pecado? Y si les digo la verdad. ¿por qué no me creen?	46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 El que es de Dios escucha las palabras de Dios; si ustedes no las escuchan, es porque no son de Dios».	47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
48 Los judíos le replicaron: «¿No tenemos razón al decir que eres un samaritano y que estás endemoniado?». Jesús respondió:	48 Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?
49 «Yo no estoy endemoniado, sino que honro a mi Padre, y ustedes me deshonran a mí.	49 Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me.
50 Yo no busco mi gloria; hay alguien que la busca, y es él el que juzga.	50 And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth.
51 Les aseguro que el que es fiel a mi palabra, no morirá jamás».	51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52 Los judíos le dijeron: «Ahora sí estamos seguros de que estás endemoniado. Abraham murió, los profetas también, y tú dices: «El que es fiel a mi palabra, no morirá jamás».	52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53 ¿Acaso eres más grande que nuestro padre Abraham, el cual murió? Los profetas también murieron. ¿Quién pretendes ser tú?»	53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54 Jesús respondió: «Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada. Es mi Padre el que me glorifica, el mismo al que ustedes llaman «nuestro Dios»,	54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 y al que, sin embargo, no conocen. Yo lo conozco y si dijera: «No lo conozco», sería, como ustedes, un mentiroso. Pero yo lo conozco y soy fiel a su palabra.	55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56 Abraham, el padre de ustedes, se estremeció de gozo, esperando ver mi Día: lo vio y se llenó de alegría».	56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Los judíos le dijeron: «Todavía no tienes cincuenta años ¿y has visto a Abraham».	57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesús respondió: «Les aseguro que desde antes que naciera Abraham, Yo Soy».	58 Jesus said unto them, Verily,verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 Entonces tomaron piedras para apedrearlo, pero Jesús se escondió y salió del Templo.	59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
