Lucas 22

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Estaba cerca la fiesta de los Azimos, llamada Pascua.	1 The feast of Unleavened Bread, cal ed the Passover, was now drawing near,
2 Los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas buscaban la manera de eliminar a Jesús, porque tenían medio del pueblo.	2 and the chief priests and the scribes were looking for some way of doing away with him, because theywere afraid of the people.
3 Entonces Satanás entró en Judas, llamado Iscariote, que era uno de los Doce.	3 Then Satan entered into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was one of the Twelve.
4 Este fue a tratar con los sumos sacerdotes y los jefes de la guardia sobre el modo de entregárselo.	4 He approached the chief priests and the officers of the guard to discuss some way of handing Jesusover to them.
5 Ellos se alegraron y convinieron en darle dinero.	5 They were delighted and agreed to give him money.
6 Judas aceptó y buscaba una ocasión propicia para entregarlo sin que se enterara el pueblo.	6 He accepted and began to look for an opportunity to betray him to them without people knowing aboutit.
7 Llegó el día de los Azimos, en el que se debía inmolar la víctima pascual.	7 The day of Unleavened Bread came round, on which the Passover had to be sacrificed,
8 Jesús envió a Pedro y a Juan, diciéndoles: «Vayan a prepararnos lo necesario para la comida pascual».	8 and he sent Peter and John, saying, 'Go and make the preparations for us to eat the Passover.'
9 Ellos le preguntaron: «¿Dónde quieres que la preparemos?».	9 They asked him, 'Where do you want us to prepare it?'
10 Jesús les respondió: «Al entrar en la ciudad encontrarán a un hombre que lleva un cántaro de agua. Síganlo hasta la casa donde entre,	10 He said to them, 'Look, as you go into the city you wil meet a man carrying a pitcher of water. Fol owhim into the house he enters
11 y digan a su dueño: El Maestro manda preguntarte: "¿Dónde está la sala en que podré comer la Pascua con mis discípulos?".	11 and tel the owner of the house, "The Master says this to you: Where is the room for me to eat thePassover with my disciples?"
12 El les mostrará en el piso alto una pieza grande, arreglada con almohadones: preparen allí lo necesario».	12 The man wil show you a large upper room furnished with couches. Make the preparations there.'
13 Los discípulos partieron, encontraron todo como Jesús les había dicho y prepararon la Pascua.	13 They set off and found everything as he had told them and prepared the Passover.
14 Llegada la hora, Jesús se sentó a la mesa con los Apóstoles y les dijo:	14 When the time came he took his place at table, and the apostles with him.
15 «He deseado ardientemente comer esta Pascua con ustedes antes de mi Pasión,	15 And he said to them, 'I have ardently longed to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;
16 porque les aseguro que ya no la comeré más hasta que llegue a su pleno cumplimiento en el Reino de Dios».	16 because, I tel you, I shal not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.'
17 Y tomando una copa, dio gracias y dijo: «Tomen y compártanla entre ustedes.	17 Then, taking a cup, he gave thanks and said, 'Take this and share it among you,
18 Porque les aseguro que desde ahora no beberé más del fruto de la vid hasta que llegue el Reino de Dios».	18 because from now on, I tel you, I shall never again drink wine until the kingdom of God comes.'
19 Luego tomó el pan, dio gracias, lo partió y lo dio a sus discípulos, diciendo: «Esto es mi Cuerpo, que se entrega por ustedes. Hagan esto en memoria mía».	19 Then he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This ismy body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.'
20 Después de la cena hizo lo mismo con la copa, diciendo: «Esta copa es la Nueva Alianza sellada con mi Sangre, que se derrama por ustedes.	20 He did the same with the cup after supper, and said, 'This cup is the new covenant in my bloodpoured out for you.
21 La mano del traidor está sobre la mesa, junto a mí.	21 'But look, here with me on the table is the hand of the man who is betraying me.
22 Porque el Hijo del hombre va por el camino que le ha sido señalado, pero ¡ay de aquel que lo va a entregar!».	22 The Son of man is indeed on the path which was decreed, but alas for that man by whom he isbetrayed!'
23 Entonces comenzaron a preguntarse unos a otros quién de ellos sería el que iba a hacer eso.	23 And they began to ask one another which of them it could be who was to do this.
24 Y surgió una discusión sobre quién debía ser considerado como el más grande.	24 An argument also began between them about who should be reckoned the greatest;
25 Jesús les dijo: «Los reyes de las naciones dominan sobre ellas, y los que ejercen el poder sobre el pueblo se hacen llamar bienhechores.	25 but he said to them, 'Among the gentiles it is the kings who lord it over them, and those who haveauthority over them are given the title Benefactor.
26 Pero entre ustedes no debe ser así. Al contrario, el que es más grande, que se comporte como el menor, y el que gobierna, como un servidor.	26 With you this must not happen. No; the greatest among you must behave as if he were the youngest,the leader as if he were the one who serves.
27 Porque, ¿quién es más grande, el que está a la mesa o el que sirve? ¿No es acaso el que está a la mesa? Y sin embargo, yo estoy entre ustedes como el que sirve.	27 For who is the greater: the one at table or the one who serves? The one at table, surely? Yet here amI among you as one who serves!
28 Ustedes son los que han permanecido siempre conmigo en medio de mis pruebas.	28 'You are the men who have stood by me faithful y in my trials;
29 Por eso yo les confiero la realeza, como mi Padre me la confirió a mí,	29 and now I confer a kingdom on you, just as my Father conferred one on me:
30 Y en mi Reino, ustedes comerán y beberán en mi mesa, y se sentarán sobre tronos para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.	30 you wil eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you wil sit on thrones to judge the twelve tribesof Israel.
31 Simón, Simón, mira que Satanás ha pedido poder para zarandearlos como el trigo,	31 'Simon, Simon! Look, Satan has got his wish to sift you al like wheat;
32 pero yo he rogado por ti, para que no te falte la fe. Y tú, después que hayas vuelto, confirma a tus hermanos».	32 but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail, and once you have recovered, you inyour turn must strengthen your brothers.'
33 «Señor, le dijo Pedro, estoy dispuesto a ir contigo a la cárcel y a la muerte».	33 'Lord,' he answered, 'I would be ready to go to prison with you, and to death.'
34 Pero Jesús replicó: «Yo te aseguro, Pedro, que hoy, antes que cante el gallo, habrás negado tres veces que me conoces».	34 Jesus replied, 'I tell you, Peter, by the time the cock crows today you wil have denied three times thatyou know me.'
35 Después les dijo: «Cuando los envié sin bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias, ¿les faltó alguna cosa?».	35 He said to them, 'When I sent you out without purse or haversack or sandals, were you short ofanything?'
36 «Nada», respondieron. El agregó: «Pero ahora el que tenga una bolsa, que la lleve; el que tenga una alforja, que la lleve también; y el que no tenga espada, que venda su manto para comprar una.	36 'No, nothing,' they said. He said to them, 'But now if you have a purse, take it, and the same with ahaversack; if you have no sword, sell your cloak and buy one,
37 Porque les aseguro que debe cumplirse en mí esta palabra de la Escritura: Fue contado entre los malhechores. Ya llega a su fin todo lo que se refiere a mí».	37 because I tell you these words of scripture are destined to be fulfil ed in me: He was counted as oneof the rebel ious. Yes, what it says about me is even now reaching its fulfilment.'
38 «Señor, le dijeron, aquí hay dos espadas». El les respondió: «Basta».	38 They said, 'Lord, here are two swords.' He said to them, 'That is enough!'
39 En seguida Jesús salió y fue como de costumbre al monte de los Olivos, seguido de sus discípulos.	39 He then left to make his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, with the disciples fol owing.
40 Cuando llegaron, les dijo: «Oren, para no caer en la tentación».	40 When he reached the place he said to them, 'Pray not to be put to the test.'
41 Después se alejó de ellos, más o menos a la distancia de un tiro de piedra, y puesto de rodillas, oraba:	41 Then he withdrew from them, about a stone's throw away, and knelt down and prayed.
42 «Padre, si quieres, aleja de mí este cáliz. Pero que no se haga mi voluntad, sino la tuya».	42 'Father,' he said, 'if you are wil ing, take this cup away from me. Nevertheless, let your will be done,not mine.'
43 Entonces se le apareció un ángel del cielo que lo reconfortaba.	43 Then an angel appeared to him, coming from heaven to give him strength.
44 En medio de la angustia, él oraba más intensamente, y su sudor era como gotas de sangre que corrían hasta el suelo.	44 In his anguish he prayed even more earnestly, and his sweat fell to the ground like great drops ofblood.
45 Después de orar se levantó, fue hacia donde estaban sus discípulos y los encontró adormecidos por la tristeza.	45 When he rose from prayer he went to the disciples and found them sleeping for sheer grief.
46 Jesús les dijo: «¿Por qué están durmiendo? Levántense y oren para no caer en la tentación».	46 And he said to them, 'Why are you asleep? Get up and pray not to be put to the test.'
47 Todavía estaba hablando, cuando llegó una multitud encabezada por el que se llamaba Judas, uno de los Doce. Este se acercó a Jesús para besarlo.	47 Suddenly, while he was still speaking, a number of men appeared, and at the head of them the mancal ed Judas, one of the Twelve, who went up to Jesus to kiss him.
48 Jesús le dijo: «Judas, ¿con un beso entregas al Hijo del hombre?».	48 Jesus said, 'Judas, are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?'
49 Los que estaban con Jesús, viendo lo que iba a suceder, le preguntaron: «Señor, ¿usamos la espada?»	49 His followers, seeing what was about to happen, said, 'Lord, shal we use our swords?'
50 Y uno de ellos hirió con su espada al servidor del Sumo Sacerdote, cortándole la oreja derecha.	50 And one of them struck the high priest's servant and cut off his right ear.
51 Pero Jesús dijo: «Dejen, ya está». Y tocándole la oreja, lo curó.	51 But at this Jesus said, 'That is enough.' And touching the man's ear he healed him.
52 Después dijo a los sumos sacerdotes, a los jefes de la guardia del Templo y a los ancianos que habían venido a arrestarlo: «¿Soy acaso un ladrón para que vengan con espadas y palos?	52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the Temple guard and elders who had come forhim, 'Am I a bandit, that you had to set out with swords and clubs?
53 Todos los días estaba con ustedes en el Templo y no me arrestaron. Pero esta es la hora de ustedes y el poder de las tinieblas».	53 When I was among you in the Temple day after day you never made a move to lay hands on me. Butthis is your hour; this is the reign of darkness.'
54 Después de arrestarlo, lo condujeron a la casa del Sumo Sacerdote. Pedro lo seguía de lejos.	54 They seized him then and led him away, and they took him to the high priest's house. Peter fol owedat a distance.
55 Encendieron fuego en medio del patio, se sentaron alrededor de él y Pedro se sentó entre ellos.	55 They had lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard and Peter sat down among them,
56 Una sirvienta que lo vio junto al fuego, lo miró fijamente y dijo: «Este también estaba con él».	56 and as he was sitting there by the blaze a servant-girl saw him, peered at him, and said, 'This manwas with him too.'
57 Pedro lo negó diciendo: «Mujer, no lo conozco».	57 But he denied it. 'Woman, I do not know him,' he said.
58 Poco después, otro lo vio y dijo: «Tú también eres uno de aquellos». Pero Pedro respondió: «No, hombre, no lo soy».	58 Shortly afterwards someone else saw him and said, 'You are one of them too.' But Peter replied, 'I amnot, my friend.'
59 Alrededor de una hora más tarde, otro insistió, diciendo: «No hay duda de que este hombre estaba con él; además, él también es galileo».	59 About an hour later another man insisted, saying, 'This fel ow was certainly with him. Why, he is aGalilean.'
60 «Hombre, dijo Pedro, no sé lo que dices». En ese momento, cuando todavía estaba hablando, cantó el gallo.	60 Peter said, 'My friend, I do not know what you are talking about.' At that instant, while he was stilspeaking, the cock crowed,
61 El Señor, dándose vuelta, miró Pedro. Este recordó las palabras que el Señor le había dicho: «Hoy, antes que cante el gallo, me habrás negado tres veces».	61 and the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter, and Peter remembered the Lord's words when hehad said to him, 'Before the cock crows today, you will have disowned me three times.'
62 Y saliendo afuera, lloró amargamente.	62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 Los hombres que custodiaban a Jesús lo ultrajaban y lo golpeaban;	63 Meanwhile the men who guarded Jesus were mocking and beating him.
64 y tapándole el rostro, le decían: «Profetiza, ¿quién te golpeó?».	64 They blindfolded him and questioned him, saying, 'Prophesy! Who hit you then?'
65 Y proferían contra él toda clase de insultos.	65 And they heaped many other insults on him.
66 Cuando amaneció, se reunió el Consejo de los ancianos del pueblo, junto con los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas. Llevaron a Jesús ante el tribunal	66 When day broke there was a meeting of the elders of the people, the chief priests and scribes. Hewas brought before their council,
67 y le dijeron: «Dinos si eres el Mesías». El les dijo: «Si yo les respondo, ustedes no me creerán,	67 and they said to him, 'If you are the Christ, tel us.' He replied, 'If I tel you, you wil not believe,
68 y si los interrogo, no me responderán.	68 and if I question you, you will not answer.
69 Pero en adelante, el Hijo del hombre se sentará a la derecha de Dios todopoderoso».	69 But from now on, the Son of man wil be seated at the right hand of the Power of God.'
70 Todos preguntaron: «¿Entonces eres el Hijo de Dios?». Jesús respondió: «Tienen razón, yo lo soy».	70 They all said, 'So you are the Son of God then?' He answered, 'It is you who say I am.'
71 Ellos dijeron: «¿Acaso necesitamos otro testimonio? Nosotros mismos lo hemos oído de su propia boca».	71 Then they said, 'Why do we need any evidence? We have heard it for ourselves from his own lips.'
