Isaías 28

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¡Ay de la soberbia corona de los ebrios de Efraím, y de la flor marchita que lucen como adorno, sobre lo alto del valle fértil! ¡Ay de ustedes, los volteados por el vino!	1 Woe to the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower of its proud splendour sited atthe head of the lush val ey, to those prostrated by wine!
2 Miren, el Señor tiene a un hombre fuerte y poderoso: como tormenta de granizo y tempestad arrasadora, como tormenta de aguas impetuosas, torrenciales, él lo echa todo por tierra violentamente	2 See, a strong and mighty man in the Lord's service, like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, likeimmense flood-waters overflowing, with his hand he throws them to the ground.
3 Con ambos pies será pisoteada la soberbia corona de los ebrios de Efraím.	3 They wil be trampled underfoot, the haughty crown of Ephraim's drunkards,
4 Y la flor marchita que lucen como adorno, sobre lo alto del valle fértil, será como una breva antes del verano: el primero que la ve, apenas la tiene en la mano, se la traga.	4 and the faded flower of its proud splendour sited at the head of the lush val ey. Like a fig ripe beforesummer comes: whoever spots it forthwith picks and swal ows it.
5 Aquel día, el Señor de los ejércitos será una espléndida corona y una diadema de gloria para el resto de su pueblo;	5 That day Yahweh Sabaoth wil be a crown of splendour and a proud diadem for the remnant of hispeople,
6 inspirará la justicia a los que se sientan en el tribunal, y dará fortaleza a los que rechazan el asalto a las puertas.	6 a spirit of fair judgement for him who sits in judgement, and the strength of those who repel the assaulton the gate.
7 Estos también se extravían por el vino y van dando tumbos por la bebida: sacerdote y profeta se extravían por la bebida, se aturden con el vino, van dando tumbos por la bebida, se extravían en la visión, titubean en la decisión.	7 These too have been confused by wine, have gone astray owing to liquor. Priest and prophet havebecome confused by liquor, are sodden with wine, have strayed owing to liquor, have become confused in theirvisions, have strayed in their decisions.
8 ¡Sí, todas las mesas están llenas de vómitos inmundos, no queda espacio limpio!	8 Yes, every table is covered in filthy vomit, not one is clean!
9 «¿A quién pretende instruir y hacerle comprender lo que él oye? ¿A niños recién destetados, que acaban de dejar el pecho?	9 'Whom does he think he is lecturing? Whom does he think his message is for? Babies just weaned?Babies just taken from the breast?
10 Porque todo no es más que: sau lasau, sau lasau. cau lacau, cau lacau, un poco aquí, otro poco allí».	10 With his "Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeer sham!"
11 Ahora bien: en un lenguaje balbuciente y en una lengua extranjera, el Señor hablará a este pueblo,	11 Now, with stammering lips and in a foreign language, he wil talk to this nation.
12 al que le dijo una vez: «Este es el descanso, hagan descansar al exhausto, aquí está la tranquilidad». ¡Pero ellos no quisieron escuchar!	12 He used to say to them, 'Here you can rest! Here you can let the weary rest! Here al is quiet.' But theyrefused to listen.
13 Entonces la palabra del Señor les sonará así: sau lasau, sau lasau, cau lacau, cau lacau, un poco aquí, otro poco allí, a fin de que caigan de espaldas al caminar, se destrocen y queden enredados en la trampa.	13 Now Yahweh is going to say this to them, 'Sav lasav, sav lasav, kav lakav, kav lakav, zeer sham, zeersham.' So that when they walk they wil fal over backwards and so be broken, trapped and taken captive.
14 Por eso, escuchen la palabra del Señor, ustedes, gente burlona, dominadores de este pueblo que está en Jerusalén.	14 Hence listen to Yahweh's word, you insolent men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem.
15 Ustedes dicen: «Hemos hecho una alianza con la Muerte, hemos establecido un pacto con el Abismo. Cuando pase el flagelo desencadenado. no nos alcanzará, porque hemos hecho de la mentira un refugio y nos hemos amparado en el engaño».	15 Because you have said, 'We have made a treaty with Death and have struck a pact with Sheol. Whenthe scourging flood comes over, it wil not touch us, for we have made lies our refuge and hidden underfalsehood.'
16 Por eso, así habla el Señor: Miren que yo pongo una piedra en Sión, una piedra a toda prueba, una piedra angular, escogida, bien cimentada: el que tenga fe no vacilará.	16 So the Lord Yahweh says this, 'Now I shall lay a stone in Zion, a granite stone, a precious corner-stone, a firm foundation-stone: no one who relies on this will stumble.
17 Yo usaré el derecho como medida y la justicia como plomada. El granizo barrerá el refugio de la mentira y las aguas inundarán el escondite.	17 And I wil make fair judgement the measure, and uprightness the plumb-line.' But hail wil sweep awaythe refuge of lies and floods wash away the hiding-place;
18 La alianza que hicieron con la Muerte será anulada y no se mantendrá el pacto con el Abismo. Cuando pase el flagelo desencadenado, serán aplastados:	18 your treaty with Death wil be broken and your pact with Sheol wil not hold. When the scourging floodcomes over, you wil be trodden down by it;
19 los arrollará cada vez que pase, porque pasará una mañana tras otra, de día y de noche. y será algo terrible comprender el mensaje	19 every time it comes over, it wil seize on you, for it wil come over, morning after morning, day by dayand night by night. Nothing but fear will make you understand what you hear.
20 El lecho será demasiado corto para estirarse, la manta demasiado estrecha para envolverse.	20 For the bed is too short to stretch in, the blanket too narrow for covering.
21 ¡Sí, el Señor se alzará como en el monte Parasím, se enfurecerá como en el valle de Gabaón, para realizar su obra, una obra extraña para ejecutar su tarea, una tarea inaudita.	21 Yes, as on Mount Perazim, Yahweh will rise, as in the Val ey of Gibeon, he wil storm to do his work,his mysterious work, to do his deed, his extraordinary deed.
22 Por lo tanto, dejen de burlarse, no sea que se aprieten más las ataduras porque es un decreto de exterminio el que yo escuché de parte del Señor de los ejércitos contra todo el país.	22 Stop scoffing, then, or your bonds wil be tightened further, for I have heard it: it has been irrevocablydecided as regards the whole country by the Lord Yahweh Sabaoth.
23 ¡Presten oído y escuchen mi voz, estén atentos y oigan mi palabra!	23 Listen closely to my words, be attentive, understand what I am saying.
24 ¿Acaso el que ara para sembrar se pasa todo el día arando, abriendo surcos y rastrillando su terreno?	24 Does the ploughman plough al day to sow, breaking up and harrowing his ground?
25 Una vez igualada la superficie, ¿no siembra el hinojo y esparce el comino, planta el trigo en hileras, la cebada en el lugar señalado y la espelta en sus linderos?	25 Once he has level ed its surface, does he not scatter fennel, sow cummin? Then he puts in wheat,mil et, barley and, round the edges, spelt,
26 El que le enseña estas reglas, el que lo instruye, es su Dios.	26 for his God has taught him this rule and instructed him.
27 El hinojo no se trilla con el rastrillo, no se pasa sobre el comino la rueda del carro: el hinojo se golpea con la vara y el comino con el bastón.	27 Fennel must not be crushed with a sledge, nor cart-wheels driven over cummin; fennel must bebeaten with a stick, and cummin with a flail.
28 ¿Se tritura el grano? No, no se lo trilla indefinidamente, se hace girar la rueda del carro, se lo machaca, pero no se lo tritura.	28 When you are threshing wheat, you do not waste time crushing it; you get the horse and cart-wheelmoving, but you do not grind it fine.
29 También esto procede del Señor de los ejércitos, admirable por su consejo y grande por su destreza.	29 Al this is a gift from Yahweh Sabaoth, marvel ous advice leading to great achievements.
