EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El año vigésimo séptimo de Jeroboam, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Azarías, hijo de Amasías, rey de Judá.	1 In the seventeenth year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Uzziah son of Amaziah became king of Judah.
2 Teniendo dieciséis años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y dos años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Jecolías, y era de Jerusalén.	2 He was sixteen years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem.His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
3 El hizo lo que es recto a los ojos del Señor, tal como lo había hecho su padre Amasías.	3 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Amaziah had done.
4 Sin embargo, no desaparecieron los lugares altos: el pueblo seguía ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.	4 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places.
5 El Señor hirió al rey, y éste se enfermó de lepra hasta el día de su muerte. Por eso tuvo que recluirse en una casa apartada, y Jotam, el hijo del rey, estaba al frente del palacio y gobernaba al pueblo del país.	5 But Yahweh struck the king, and he was afflicted with a virulent skin-disease til his dying day. He livedconfined to his room, while Jotham the king's son, who was master of the palace, governed the country.

7 Azarías se fue a descansar con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con ellos en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Jotam reinó en lugar de él.	7 Then Uzziah fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Jotham thensucceeded him.
8 El trigésimo octavo año de Azarías, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaría, Zacarías, hijo de Jeroboam, y reinó seis meses.	8 In the thirty-eighth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Zechariah son of Jeroboam became king of Israel inSamaria for six months.
9 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, como lo habían hecho sus padres: no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, había hecho pecar a Israel.	9 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as his fathers had done; he did not give up the sins into whichJeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel. Shal um son of Jabesh plotted against him, murdered him at Ibleam,
10 Salúm, hijo de Iabés, conspiró contra él, lo hirió de muerte en Ibleam y reinó en lugar de él.	10 and succeeded him.

12 Esta era la palabra que el Señor había dicho a Jehú: «Tus hijos se sentarán en el trono de Israel hasta la cuarta generación». Y así fue.	12 This was the word which Yahweh had spoken to Jehu, 'Your sons will sit on the throne of Israel to thefourth generation.' And so it turned out.
13 Salúm, hijo de Iabés, comenzó a reinar en el trigésimo noveno año de Ozías, rey de Judá, y reinó un mes en Samaría.	13 Shal um son of Jabesh became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah and reigned forone month in Samaria.
14 Menajem, hijo de Gadí, subió desde Tirsá y entró en Samaría; allí hirió de muerte a Salúm, hijo de Iabés, y reinó en lugar de él.	14 Then Menahem son of Gadi marched from Tirzah, entered Samaria, murdered Shal um son of Jabeshthere and succeeded him.

16 Fue entonces cuando Menajem atacó a Tapúaj y a todos los que se encontraban allí, así como a todo su territorio a partir de Tirsá; la atacó por no haberle abierto las puertas, y abrió el vientre a todas las mujeres embarazadas.	16 Menahem then sacked Tappuah -- kil ing all who were in it -- and its territory from Tirzah onwards,because it had not opened its gates to him; he sacked the town and disembowel ed al the pregnant women.
17 El trigésimo noveno año de Azarías, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Menajem, hijo de Gadí, y reinó diez años en Samaría.	17 In the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Menahem son of Gadi became king of Israel. Hereigned for ten years in Samaria.
18 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor: no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, había hecho pecar a Israel. En su tiempo,	18 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel. In his days
19 Pul, rey de Asiria, invadió el país, y Menajem le entregó mil talentos de plata, para que lo ayudara a afianzar en sus manos el poder real.	19 Pul king of Assyria invaded the country. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver in return for his support in strengthening his hold on the royal power.
20 Menajem recaudó esa plata entre toda la gente rica de Israel, a razón de cincuenta siclos de plata por persona, para entregarla al rey de Asiria. Así el rey de Asiria se retiró, y no se quedó allí, en el país.	20 Menahem levied this sum from Israel, from al the men of rank, at the rate of fifty shekels a head, tobe given to the king of Assyria, who then withdrew and did not stay in the country.

22 Menajem se fue a descansar con sus padres, y su hijo Pecajías reinó en lugar de él.	22 Then Menahem fell asleep with his ancestors; his son Pekahiah succeeded him.
23 El quincuagésimo año de Azarías, rey de Judá, inició su reinado sobre Israel, en Samaría, Pecajías, hijo de Menajem, y reinó dos años.	23 In the fiftieth year of Uzziah king of Judah, Pekahiah son of Menahem became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for two years.
24 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor: no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, había hecho pecar a Israel.	24 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.
25 Su escudero Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, conspiró contra él y lo mató en Samaría, en la torre de la casa del rey. Con la ayuda de cincuenta galaaditas, dio muerte al rey, lo mismo que a Argob y Arié, y reinó en lugar de él.	25 Pekah son of Remaliah, his equerry, plotted against him and assassinated him in the palace keep . . .He had fifty Gileadites with him. He kil ed the king and succeeded him.

27 El quincuagésimo segundo año de Azarías, rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaría, Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, y reinó veinte años.	27 In the fifty-second year of Uzziah king of Judah, Pekah son of Remaliah became king of Israel inSamaria. He reigned for twenty years.
28 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor: no se apartó de los pecados con que Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, había hecho pecar a Israel.	28 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh; he did not give up the sins into which Jeroboam son of Nebathad led Israel.
29 En tiempos de Pécaj, rey de Israel, llegó Tiglat Piléser, rey de Asiria, y conquistó Iyón, Abel Bet Maacá, Ianóaj, Quedes, Jasor, Galaad, la Galilea y todo el país de Neftalí; y deportó a sus habitantes a Asiria.	29 In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and captured Ijon, Abel-Beth-Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead and Galilee -- the whole territory of Naphtali and deported thepopulation to Assyria.
30 Oseas, hijo de Elá, urdió una conspiración contra Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, lo hirió de muerte y reinó en lugar de él, el vigésimo año de Jotam, hijo de Ozías.	30 Hoshea son of Elah hatched a plot against Pekah son of Remaliah; he murdered the king andsucceeded him.

33 Tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Ierusá, hija de Sadoc.	33 He was twenty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.
34 El hizo lo que es recto a los ojos del Señor, como lo había hecho su padre Ozías.	34 He did what Yahweh regards as right, just as his father Uzziah had done.
35 Sin embargo, no desaparecieron los lugares altos: el pueblo seguía ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en los lugares altos. Jotam fue el que edificó la puerta alta de la Casa del Señor.	35 The high places, however, were not abolished, and the people stil offered sacrifices and incense onthe high places. It was he who built the Upper Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.

37 En aquellos días, el Señor comenzó a lanzar contra Judá a Rasón, rey de Aram, y a Pécaj, hijo de Remalías.	37 At that time Yahweh began sending Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah against Judah.
38 Jotam se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la Ciudad de David, su padre. Su hijo Ajaz reinó en lugar de él.	38 Then Jotham fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, his ancestor; his sonAhaz succeeded him.
