1 Por lo cual, no pudiendo soportar más, decidimos quedarnos solos en Atenas	1 Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;
2 y os enviamos a Timoteo, hermano nuestro y colaborador de Dios en el Evangelio de Cristo, para afianzaros y daros ánimos en vuestra fe,	2 And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:
3 para que nadie vacile en esas tribulaciones. Bien sabéis que este es nuestro destino:	3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.
4 ya cuando estábamos con vosotros os predecíamos que íbamos a sufrir tribulaciones, y es lo que ha sucedido, como sabéis.	4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.
5 Por lo cual también yo, no pudiendo soportar ya más, le envié para tener noticias de vuestra fe, no fuera que el Tentador os hubiera tentado y que nuestro trabajo quedara reducido a nada.	5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.
6 Nos acaba de llegar de ahí Timoteo y nos ha traído buenas noticias de vuestra fe y vuestra caridad; y dice que conserváis siempre buen recuerdo de nosotros y que deseáis vernos, así como nosotros a vosotros.	6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
7 Así pues, hermanos, hemos recibido de vosotros un gran consuelo, motivado por vuestra fe, en medio de todas nuestras congojas y tribulaciones.	7 Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:
8 Ahora sí que vivimos, pues permanecéis firmes en el Señor.	8 For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.
9 Y ¿cómo podremos agradecer a Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo que, por causa vuestra, experimentamos ante nuestro Dios?	9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;
10 Noche y día le pedimos insistentemente poder ver vuestro rostro y completar lo que falta a vuestra fe.	10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Que Dios mismo, nuestro Padre y nuestro Señor Jesús orienten nuestros pasos hacia vosotros.	11 Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
12 En cuanto a vosotros, que el Señor os haga progresar y sobreabundar en el amor de unos con otros, y en el amor para con todos, como es nuestro amor para con vosotros,	12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
13 para que se consoliden vuestros corazones con santidad irreprochable ante Dios, nuestro Padre, en la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, con todos sus santos.	13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
