1 Respondió Moisés y dijo: «No van a creerme, ni escucharán mi voz; pues dirán: “No se te ha aparecido Yahveh.”»	1 Responding, Moses said, “They will not believe me, and they will not listen to my voice, but they will say: ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ”
2 Díjole Yahveh: «¿Qué tienes en tu mano?» «Un cayado», respondió él.	2 Therefore, he said to him, “What is that you hold in your hand?” He answered, “A staff.”
3 Yahveh le dijo: «Échalo a tierra.» Lo echó a tierra y se convirtió en serpiente; y Moisés huyó de ella.	3 And the Lord said, “Cast it down upon the ground.” He cast it down, and it was turned into a snake, so that Moses fled away.
4 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Extiende tu mano y agárrala por la cola.» Extendió la mano, la agarró, y volvió a ser cayado en su mano...	4 And the Lord said, “Reach out your hand, and take hold of its tail.” He reached out his hand and took hold, and it was turned into a staff.
5 «Para que crean que se te ha aparecido Yahveh, el Dios de sus padres, el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob.»	5 “So may they believe,” he said, “that the Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”
6 Y añadió Yahveh: «Mete tu mano en el pecho.» Metió él la mano en su pecho y cuando la volvió a sacar estaba cubierta de lepra, blanca como la nieve.	6 And the Lord said again, “Put your hand into your bosom.” And when he had put it into his bosom, he brought it out leprous, resembling snow.
7 Y le dijo: «Vuelve a meter la mano en tu pecho.» La volvió a meter y, cuando la sacó de nuevo, estaba ya como el resto de su carne.	7 “Put your hand back,” he said, “into your bosom.” He put it back and brought it out again, and it was like the rest of his flesh.
8 «Así pues, si no te creen ni escuchan la voz por la primera señal, creerán por la segunda.	8 “If they will not believe you,” he said, “and will not listen to the sermon of the first sign, then they will believe the word of the subsequent sign.
9 Y si no creen tampoco por estas dos señales y no escuchan tu voz, tomarás agua del Río y la derramarás en el suelo; y el agua que saques del Río se convertirá en sangre sobre el suelo.»	9 But if they will not believe even these two signs, and they will not listen to your voice: take from the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land, and whatever you will have drawn from the river will be turned into blood.”
10 Dijo Moisés a Yahveh: «¡Por favor, Señor! Yo no he sido nunca hombre de palabra fácil, ni aun después de haber hablado tú con tu siervo; sino que soy torpe de boca y de lengua.»	10 Moses said: “I beg you, O Lord, I was not eloquent yesterday or the day before. And from the time that you have spoken to your servant, I have a greater impediment and slowness of tongue.”
11 Le respondió Yahveh: «¿Quién ha dado al hombre la boca? ¿? Quién hace al mudo y al sordo, al que ve y al ciego? ¿No soy yo, Yahveh?	11 The Lord said to him: “Who made the mouth of man? And who has formed the mute and the deaf, the seeing and the blind? Was it not I?
12 Así pues, vete, que yo estaré en tu boca y te enseñaré lo que debes decir.»	12 Go on, therefore, and I will be in your mouth. And I will teach you what you shall say.”
13 El replicó: «Por favor, envía a quien quieras.»	13 But he said, “I beg you, O Lord, send whomever else you would send.”
14 Entonces se encendió la ira de Yahveh contra Moisés, y le dijo: «¿No tienes a tu hermano Aarón el levita? Sé que él habla bien; he aquí que justamente ahora sale a tu encuentro, y al verte se alegrará su corazón.	14 The Lord, being angry at Moses, said: “Aaron the Levite is your brother. I know that he is eloquent. Behold, he is going out to meet you, and seeing you, he will rejoice in heart.
15 Tu le hablarás y pondrás las palabras en su boca; yo estaré en tu boca y en la suya, y os enseñaré lo que habéis de hacer.	15 Speak to him, and put my words in his mouth. And I will be in your mouth and in his mouth, and I will reveal to you what you must do.
16 El hablará por ti al pueblo, él será tu boca y tú serás su dios.	16 He will speak for you to the people, and he will be your mouth. But you will be with him in those things that pertain to God.
17 Toma también en tu mano este cayado, porque con él has de hacer las señales.»	17 Also, take this staff into your hand; with it you will accomplish the signs.”
18 Moisés volvió y regresó a casa de Jetró, su suegro, y le dijo: «Con tu permiso, me vuelvo a ver a mis hermanos de Egipto para saber si viven todavía.» Dijo Jetró a Moisés: «Vete en paz.»	18 Moses went forth, and he returned to Jethro, his father in law, and he said to him, “I shall go and return to my brothers in Egypt, so that I may see if they are still alive.” And Jethro said to him, “Go in peace.”
19 Yahveh dijo a Moisés en Madián: «Anda, vuelve a Egipto ; pues han muerto todos los que buscaban tu muerte.»	19 And so the Lord said to Moses in Midian: “Go, and return to Egypt. For all those who sought your life have died.”
20 Tomó, pues, Moisés a su mujer y a su hijo y, montándolos sobre un asno, volvió a la tierra de Egipto. Tomó también Moisés el cayado de Dios en su mano.	20 Therefore, Moses took his wife and his sons, and he placed them upon a donkey, and he returned into Egypt, carrying the staff of God in his hand.
21 Y dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Cuando vuelvas a Egipto, harás delante de Faraón todos los prodigios que yo he puesto en tu mano; yo, por mi parte, endureceré su corazón, y no dejará salir al pueblo.	21 And the Lord said to him, as he was returning to Egypt: “See that you accomplish, in the sight of Pharaoh, all the wonders that I have placed in your hand. I will harden his heart, and he will not release the people.
22 Y dirás a Faraón: Así dice Yahveh: Israel es mi hijo, mi primogénito.	22 And you shall say to him: ‘Thus says the Lord: Israel is my firstborn son.
23 Yo te he dicho: “Deja ir a mi hijo para que me dé culto,” pero como tú no quieres dejarle partir, mira que yo voy a matar a tu hijo, a tu primogénito.»	23 I have said to you: Release my son, so that he may serve me. And you were not willing to release him. Behold, I will put to death your firstborn son.’ ”
24 Y sucedió que en el camino le salió al encuentro Yahveh en el lugar donde pasaba la noche y quiso darle muerte.	24 And while he was on the journey, at an inn, the Lord met him, and he was willing to kill him.
25 Tomó entonces Seforá un cuchillo de pedernal y, cortando el prepucio de su hijo, tocó los pies de Moisés, diciendo: «Tú eres para mí esposo de sangre.»	25 For this reason, Zipporah took a very sharp stone, and she circumcised the foreskin of her son, and she touched his feet, and she said, “You are a bloody spouse to me.”
26 Y Yahveh le soltó; ella había dicho: «esposo de sangre», por la circuncisión.	26 And he released him, after she had said, “You are a bloody spouse,” because of the circumcision.
27 Dijo Yahveh a Aarón: «Vete al desierto al encuentro de Moisés.» Partió, pues, y le encontró en el monte de Dios y le besó.	27 Then the Lord said to Aaron, “Go into the desert to meet Moses.” And he went directly to meet him on the mountain of God, and he kissed him.
28 Moisés contó a Aarón todas las palabras que Yahveh le había encomendado y todas las señales que le había mandado hacer.	28 And Moses explained to Aaron all the words of the Lord, by which he had sent him, and the signs which he had commanded.
29 Fueron, pues, Moisés y Aarón y reunieron a todos los ancianos de los israelitas.	29 And they arrived at the same time, and they gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel.
30 Aarón refirió todas las palabras que Yahveh había dicho a Moisés, el cual hizo las señales delante del pueblo.	30 And Aaron spoke all the words which the Lord had said to Moses. And he accomplished the signs in the sight of the people,
31 El pueblo creyó, y al oír que Yahveh había visitado a los israelitas y había visto su aflicción, se postraron y adoraron.	31 and the people believed. And they heard that the Lord had visited the sons of Israel, and that he had looked with favor upon their affliction. And falling prostrate, they worshiped.
