1 Chè io ti dice che tu ammonischi, che sieno soggetti alli principi e alle potestati, e che debbano obbedire al comandamento, e che siano apparecchiati ad ogni buona opera;	1 Admonish them to be subordinate to the rulers and authorities, to obey their dictates, to be prepared for every good work,
2 e che non siano biastematori, nè battaglieri (nè tenzionatori), ma sieno temperati, dimostrando ogni mansuetudine a ogni uomo.	2 to speak evil of no one, not to be litigious, but to be reserved, displaying all meekness toward all men.
3 Chè [anche] noi eravamo in qua dietro non sani e increduli, errando e serviendo ai desiderii e alle molte voluttà, e andando in malizia, e con invidia odiosa odiando l'un l'altro.	3 For, in times past, we ourselves were also unwise, unbelieving, erring, servants of various desires and pleasures, acting with malice and envy, being hateful and hating one another.
4 Ma poi che apparve la benignità e umanità del nostro Salvatore Dio,	4 But then the kindness and humanity of God our Savior appeared.
5 non per opere di giustizia, le quali avessimo fatte in prima, ma secondo la sua misericordia, fece noi salvi per lavamento di rinascimento [e] di rinnovamento del Spirito Santo.	5 And he saved us, not by works of justice that we had done, but, in accord with his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and by the renovation of the Holy Spirit,
6 Il quale egli sparse sopra noi abbondevolmente per Iesù Cristo, nostro Salvatore,	6 whom he has poured out upon us in abundance, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 acciò che fossimo eredi secondo la speranza di vita eterna, essendo giustificati per la sua grazia.	7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8 Fedele parola è: questo voglio, che tu confermi gli altri di queste cose, ch' egli studino di sopra stare alle buone opere, quelli che credono in Dio. Chè queste cose (che ho dette) son buone e utili alli uomini.	8 This is a faithful saying. And I want you to confirm these things, so that those who believe in God may take care to excel in good works. These things are good and useful to men.
9 Schifa le (male e) stolte questioni di sapere le generazioni, e le contenzioni, e le battaglie della legge; imperò che son inutili e vane.	9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, as well as arguments against the law. For these are useless and empty.
10 L'uomo eretico, dopo l' una correzione, e dopo secondo castigamento, sì lo schifa,	10 Avoid a man who is a heretic, after the first and second correction,
11 sapendo ch' egli è rivolto dalla fede quel tale che in tal guisa ha peccato, ed è condannato da proprio giudizio.	11 knowing that one who is like this has been subverted, and that he offends; for he has been condemned by his own judgment.
12 Quando io manderò a te Artema ovver Tichico, studiati di venire a me a Nicopoli; chè qui c'è ordinato di vernare.	12 When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, hurry to return to me at Nicopolis. For I have decided to winter there.
13 Manda inanzi sollecitamente a me Zena savio della legge e Apollo, che niente abbiano meno (nella fede).	13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollo ahead with care, and let nothing be lacking to them.
14 (Acciò che) egli imprendano di sopra stare alle buone nostre opere, agli usi necessarii, chè egli non siano infruttuosi.	14 But let our men also learn to excel in good works pertaining to the necessities of life, so that they may not be unfruitful.
15 Salùtanti tutti quelli che son meco; saluta coloro li quali amano noi nella fede. La grazia di Dio sia con voi tutti. Amen.	15 All those who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. May the grace of God be with you all. Amen.
