BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Dunque priego voi, fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, che voi diate (a Dio) li vostri corpi, ad essere ostie vive e sante e piacevoli a Dio; e il vostro servigio sia ragionevole (dinanzi a Dio).	1 I urge you, then, brothers, remembering the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, dedicated and acceptable to God; that is the kind of worship for you, as sensible people.
2 E non vogliate esser della forma di questo secolo (e non vi acconciate a questo mondo), ma riformatevi nella novità del vostro sentimento, che proviate qual sia la volontà di Dio, buona e bene piacente e compiuta.	2 Do not model your behaviour on the contemporary world, but let the renewing of your mindstransform you, so that you may discern for yourselves what is the wil of God -- what is good and acceptable andmature.
3 Dico a voi, per la grazia che a me è data, che voi non sappiate più che sia bisogno di sapere; ma voglio che abbiate volontà di sapere a misura, secondo che Dio ha dato (a sapere) a misura della fede a ciascuno.	3 And through the grace that I have been given, I say this to every one of you: never pride yourself onbeing better than you real y are, but think of yourself dispassionately, recognising that God has given to eachone his measure of faith.
4 Che [sì come] noi vedemo, in uno corpo sono molte membra, e tutte quelle membra non hanno quello medesimo officio l' uno che l' altro;	4 Just as each of us has various parts in one body, and the parts do not al have the same function:
5 e così noi, molti insieme, tutti siamo uno corpo in Cristo; e ciascuno è membro l' uno dell' altro (e di esser fratelli).	5 in the same way, al of us, though there are so many of us, make up one body in Christ, and asdifferent parts we are al joined to one another.
6 Voi avete donamenti disuguagliati l' uno dall'altro, secondo la grazia ch' è data a voi; chi ha spirito di profezia, sì abbìa secondo la ragione della fede.	6 Then since the gifts that we have differ according to the grace that was given to each of us: if it is agift of prophecy, we should prophesy as much as our faith tells us;
7 A uno altro è dato servizio per servire; e all' altro sì è dato ammaestrare nella dottrina (della fede).	7 if it is a gift of practical service, let us devote ourselves to serving; if it is teaching, to teaching;
8 E chi conforta li altri; e chi dà le sue cose con simplicità; e chi è presidente nella sollicitudine; e chi perdona con allegrezza.	8 if it is encouraging, to encouraging. When you give, you should give generously from the heart; if youare put in charge, you must be conscientious; if you do works of mercy, let it be because you enjoy doing them.
9 E la nostra dilezione sia senza infingimento; abbiate in odio il male, e accostatevi al bene.	9 Let love be without any pretence. Avoid what is evil; stick to what is good.
10 Amate insieme la carità della fraternità; e ciascuno si studii di fare onore l'uno all' altro.	10 In brotherly love let your feelings of deep affection for one another come to expression and regardothers as more important than yourself.
11 Siate solliciti, e non pigri; servite a Dio, essendo ferventi nel spirito,	11 In the service of the Lord, work not halfheartedly but with conscientiousness and an eager spirit.
12 allegrandovi della speranza; e siate pazienti nella tribulazione; siate solliciti a stare in orazione.	12 Be joyful in hope, persevere in hardship; keep praying regularly;
13 Accompagnatevi alle necessità coi santi; e albergate li buoni che son fuori di loro magione.	13 share with any of God's holy people who are in need; look for opportunities to be hospitable.
14 Dite bene a coloro che vi fanno persecuzione; benedicete, e non li maledicete.	14 Bless your persecutors; never curse them, bless them.
15 Gaudete coi gaudenti, e piangete con loro che piangono.	15 Rejoice with others when they rejoice, and be sad with those in sorrow.
16 E voglia l' uno quello che l'altro; non vi paia buona l'altezza, ma consentite agli umili; non vi tenete savii appo voi medesimi.	16 Give the same consideration to al others alike. Pay no regard to social standing, but meet humblepeople on their own terms. Do not congratulate yourself on your own wisdom.
17 E non rendete male per male; ma provedetevi delle buone cose, non solamente dinanzi da Dio, ma etiam dinanzi da tutti gli uomini.	17 Never pay back evil with evil, but bear in mind the ideals that all regard with respect.
18 Se può essere, con tutte le persone abbiate pace; e da evi studio, in quello che a voi s' appartiene, che questo sia.	18 As much as possible, and to the utmost of your ability, be at peace with everyone.
19 E non difendete voi medesimi, carissimi; ma date luogo all' ira. Chè egli è scritto (e dice così il Signore): servate a me la vendetta, e io renderò il guiderdone; (ma fate così).	19 Never try to get revenge: leave that, my dear friends, to the Retribution. As scripture says:Vengeance is mine -- I wil pay them back, the Lord promises.
20 Se il tuo nemico ha fame, dàgli mangiare; se ha sete, dàgli bere; e facendo questo, tu raguni carboni di fuoco sopra il suo capo (cioè che tu gl' infiammi la mente ad amare te).	20 And more: If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat; if thirsty, something to drink. By this,you wil be heaping red-hot coals on his head.
21 Non ti lasciare vincere al male, ma vinci tu il male col bene.	21 Do not be mastered by evil, but master evil with good.
