Deuteronomio 10

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 In quel tempo Iddio disse a Moisè: lavorati due tavole di pietra, come furono quelle di prima; e sagli in sul monte a me; e farai un'arca di legno.	1 'Yahweh then said to me, "Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and come up to me on themountain. Make an ark of wood;
2 E io iscriverò nelle tavole le parole che furono in quelle che tu rompesti innanzi, e sì le porrai nell'arca.	2 on the tablets I shal inscribe the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; put them in theark."
3 E feci l'arca di legno Setim; e poi ch' ebbi lavorato due tavole di pietra, siccome quelle di prima, io salio in sul monte; e avendole in mano,	3 So I made an ark of acacia wood, cut two stone tablets like the first and went up the mountain with thetwo tablets in my hand.
4 iscrisse nelle tavole, secondo quello che vera (stato e avea) iscritto in prima, dieci parole, le quali Iddio vostro Signore vi (disse e) favelloe in sul monte, di mezzo del fuoco, quando il popolo si raunò; e sì me le diede.	4 And he inscribed the tablets, as he had inscribed them before, with the Ten Words which Yahweh hadsaid to you on the mountain, from the heart of the fire, on the day of the Assembly. Yahweh then gave them tome.
5 E tornato del monte, discesi giù; e puosi le tavole nell'arca ch' io avea fatta, le quali vi sono insino ad oggi, come Iddio mi comandò.	5 I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark I had made, and there theystayed, as Yahweh had commanded me.
6 E i figliuoli d'Israel si mossero (e puosero) il campo dalla parte di Berot de' figliuoli di Iacan in Mosera, dove Aaron morì e fu sotterrato; in cui scambio il suo figliuolo Eleazaro fece l'officio del sacerdozio (e del prete, o vuoi tu del papa).	6 'The Israelites left the wel s of the Bene-Jaakan for Moserah, where Aaron died; he was buried there,and his son Eleazar succeeded him in the priesthood.
7 E quindi sì (partirono i figliuoli d'Israel, e) vennero in Gadgad; del quale luogo partendosi, puo sero il campo in Jetebata, in terra d'acque correnti.	7 From there, they set out for Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah for Jotbathah, an area rich in streams.
8 Ma in quel tempo ispartì la schiatta di Levi, acciò che portasse l'arca (del patto e) della confederazione di Dio (coi figliuoli d'Israel), e istesse (quella schiatta) dinanzi a Dio in suo servigio, e benedisse in suo nome insino al dì presente.	8 Yahweh then set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of Yahweh's covenant, to stand in thepresence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his name, as they stil do today.
9 Per la quale cosa Levi non ebbe parte nè possessione co' suoi fratelli; perciò che Iddio è la loro possessione, come Iddio tuo Signore promise loro.	9 This is why Levi has no share or heritage with his brothers: Yahweh is his heritage, as Yahweh yourGod then told him.
10 Ma io, come in prima, istetti in sul monte XL dì e XL notti; e Iddio udì la mia orazione (e pregando Iddio) anche questa volta, e non ti volse uccidere.	10 'And, as before, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights. And again Yahweh heardmy prayer and agreed not to destroy you.
11 E si mi disse: va, e mettiti innanzi al popolo, acciò che entri e possedi la terra la quale io giurai (e promisi) di dare alli padri loro e quella mettere nelle loro mani.	11 And Yahweh said to me, "Be on your way at the head of this people, so that they can go and takepossession of the country which I swore to their ancestors that I would give them."
12 E aguale, o Israel, che è quello che Iddio ti chiede (e dimanda da te), se non che tu (abbia paura e) tema Iddio tuo Signore, e vadi per le sue vie, e sì l'ami, e servi a Dio, tuo Signore, con tutto il cuore e con tutta l'anima tua,	12 'And now, Israel, what does Yahweh your God ask of you? Only this: to fear Yahweh your God, tofol ow all his ways, to love him, to serve Yahweh your God with al your heart and al your soul,
13 e che tu guardi i comandamenti di Dio, e le sue osservanze, le quali io ti comando oggi, acciò che tu abbia (seme e) bene?	13 to keep the commandments and laws of Yahweh, which I am laying down for you today for your owngood.
14 Imperciò che il cielo si è di Dio, tuo Signore, cioè il cielo de cieli, la terra e ciò che è in lei.	14 'Look, to Yahweh your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and everything onit;
15 E con tutto questo a' tuoi padri Iddio si con giunse (per amore); e sì gli amo, e sì gli elesse (il seme) e i loro figliuoli dopo loro, cioè tra tutte quante l'altre (nazioni e) genti, siccomeoggi ti dimostra per prova.	15 yet it was on your ancestors, for love of them, that Yahweh set his heart to love them, and he chosetheir descendants after them, you yourselves, out of all nations, up to the present day.
16 Adunque circoncidete il cuore vostro, che non induriate più.	16 Circumcise your heart then and be obstinate no longer;
17 Imperciò che Iddio è vostro Signore; egli è re e signore di tutti i signori, Iddio grande e potente e terribile, il quale non piglia nè guarda a dinari.	17 for Yahweh your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, triumphant and terrible, free of favouritism, never to be bribed.
18 E sì fa giudicio e giustizia alla vedova e al pupillo (il quale sia senza alcuno aiuto); egli ama il peregrino (e il forestiere), e dà a lui il vivere e il vestire.	18 He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives himfood and clothing.
19 E anco voi amate i peregrini; però che anco voi foste forestieri nella terra d'Egitto.	19 (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)
20 Tu farai bene a temere Iddio, nostro Signore; e sì gli servirai, e a lui t'accosterai, e giurerai per lo suo nome.	20 Yahweh your God is the one whom you must fear and serve; to him you must hold firm; in his nametake your oaths.
21 Ed esso sarà ogni tua lode (e gloria e tutto tuo bene e onore) Iddio, il quale fece a te queste cose grandi e terribili, le quali cose vidono i tuoi occhi.	21 Him you must praise, he is your God: for you he has done these great and terrible things which youhave seen for yourselves;
22 I nostri padri andarono in Egitto con settanta (persone e) anime (le quali erano nate e di scese di lacob); ed ecco Iddio Signore si t'ha ora multiplicato (e cresciuto come le stelle.	22 and, although your ancestors numbered only seventy persons when they went down to Egypt,Yahweh your God has now made you as many as the stars of heaven.'
