1 E disse Iddio a me:	1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
2 Figliuolo d' uomo, (intendimi questo ch' io ti dico): furono due femine, figliuole d' una madre.	2 Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother,
3 Commisono fornicazione in Egitto, e commisono questa fornicazione in loro giovinezza; ivi le loro poppe cominciarono ad avere latte, però che fratte sono le poppe della loro pubertà. (La pubertà si è quando la femina ha XII anni infino a XIIII, e lo maschio da XIII infino a XV anni; e dice che la femina compie più tosto lo suo tempo che l'uomo, e la ragione si è questa, che l'erba rea cresce più tosto che non fa la buona).	3 who even as young girls played the harlot in Egypt. There the Egyptians caressed their bosoms and fondled their virginal breasts.
4 (Ora seguitando la istoria) lo nome della maggiore femina sì era Oolla, e la minore Ooliba sua sorella; e io ebbi quelle, e partorirono figliuoli e figliuole. Ora li nomi (per che sono figurati) sono questi, che Oolla sì è Samaria (cioè una terra), e Ooliba sì è Ierusalem.	4 Oholah was the name of the elder, and the name of her sister was Oholibah. They became mine and bore sons and daughters. (As for their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem is Oholibah.)
5 Adunque Oolla sì ha commessa fornicazione sopra di me, ed è impazzita ne' suoi amatori, cioè nelli Assiri che v' erano presso,	5 Oholah became a harlot faithless to me; she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians, warriors
6 ed erano vestiti di giacinto, e li principi e le signorie erano giovani da lussuria, tutti cavalieri, e belli cavalieri.	6 dressed in purple, governors and officers, all of them attractive young men, knights mounted on horses.
7 E diede le sue fornicazioni sopra quelli eletti, figliuoli tutti di quelli di Siria; e tutti quelli de' quali ella era impazzita, corruppesi delle loro immundizie.	7 Thus she gave herself as a harlot to them, to all the elite of the Assyrians, and she defiled herself with all those for whom she lusted (with all their idols).
8 Anche le sue fornicazioni, le quali aveva avute in Egitto, non le volle lasciare; però che quelli dormirono con lei nella sua giovinezza, ed egli ruppono le poppe della sua pubertà; (e doviamo sapere, sì come dice la Chiesa sopra questo, che quando la femina. usa con l'uomo, si rompono le poppe, e diventano molli e ingrossano); e versaro la loro fornicazione sopra lei.	8 She did not give up the harlotry which she had begun in Egypt, when they had lain with her as a young girl, fondling her virginal breasts and pouring out their impurities on her.
9 Però io la diedi nelle mani delli suoi amadori, e nelle mani de' figliuoli d' Assur, sopra di quelli ch' ella era impazzita per lussuria.	9 Therefore I handed her over to her lovers, the Assyrians for whom she had lusted.
10 Egli scopersono la sua vergogna, e portarono li suoi figliuoli e le sue figliuole, e lei uccisono con coltello; e furono diffamate le femine, e commisono giudicio in lei.	10 They exposed her nakedness, her sons and daughters they took away, and herself they slew with the sword. Thus she became a byword for women, for they punished her grievously.
11 La qual cosa quando vidde Ooliba, sua sorella, impazzì di lussuria più di lei; e la sua fornicazione fu più che la fornicazione di (Oola) sua sorella.	11 Though her sister Oholibah saw all this, her lust was more depraved than her sister's, and she outdid her in harlotry.
12 E diedesi a' figliuoli di quelli di Siria non castamente, e alli duchi e alle signorie che venivano a lei, vestiti di varie vesti, e a' cavalieri che usavano li cavalli, e a' giovani (che pareano a) tutti di bella forma e gentile.	12 She too lusted after the Assyrians, governors and officers, warriors impeccably clothed, knights mounted on horses, all of them attractive young men.
13 E vidi che era corrotta una via di tutte due.	13 I saw that she had defiled herself. Both had gone down the same path,
14 E attese le sue fornicazioni, (cioè che le chiese, e tirò a sè ogni uomo per fare ciò); e quando ebbe veduto li uomini dipinti nella parete, le imagini delli Caldei espresse di colori,	14 yet she went further in her harlotry. When she saw men drawn on the wall, the images of Chaldeans drawn with vermillion,
15 e cinti colli cingoli militari, e ornamenti tinti nello loro capo, e la forma di tutti li duchi (era) simile a' figliuoli di quelli di Babilonia, e della terra de' Caldei dov' egli furono nati;	15 with sashes girded about their waists, flowing turbans on their heads, all looking like chariot warriors, the portraits of Babylonians, natives of Chaldea,
16 ivi impazzì lo desiderio delli suoi occhi contro a loro, e mandò a loro messaggi in Caldea.	16 she lusted for them; no sooner had she set eyes on them than she sent messengers to them in Chaldea.
17 E quando furono venuti li figliuoli di Babilonia (cioè) al letto dove si posavano le sue poppe, corroppono lei nelle sue lussurie di verginità (cioè ch' era vergine), e fu corrotta da loro, e lo suo animo fu saturato di loro.	17 Then the Babylonians came to her, to the love couch, and defiled her with their intercourse. As soon as she was defiled by them, she became disgusted with them.
18 E scoperse ignuda le sue fornicazioni, e scoperse la sua vergogna; e la mia anima si partio da lei, sì come era partita la mia anima dalla sua sorella.	18 Her harlotry was discovered and her shame was revealed, and I became disgusted with her as I had become disgusted with her sister.
19 Però che moltiplicò le sue fornicazioni, ricordando li di della sua giovinezza, ne' quali dì ella commise fornicazione nella terra d'Egitto.	19 But she played the harlot all the more, recalling the days of her girlhood, when she had been a harlot in the land of Egypt.
20 E impazzì di lussuria sopra lo suo giacere con altrui, la cui carne si è come (sono) carne d'asini, e lo loro flusso si era come flusso di cavalli.	20 She lusted for the lechers of Egypt, whose members are like that of an ass, and whose heat is like that of stallions.
21 E visitasti la fellonia della tua giovinezza, quando le tue poppe furono rotte in Egitto, e aperte le poppe della tua pubertà.	21 You yearned for the lewdness of your girlhood, when the Egyptians fondled your breasts, caressing your bosom.
22 E però, Ooliba, (cioè quella terra), questo dice lo Signore Iddio: ecco io susciterò tutti li tuoi amadori incontro a te, de' quali lo tuo animo si è saziato, e radunerolli incontro a te nel circuito;	22 Therefore, Oholibah, thus says the Lord GOD: I will now stir up your lovers against you, those with whom you are disgusted, and I will bring them against you from every side:
23 cioè li figliuoli di Babilonia, e tutti li Caldei, tiranni e principi, e tutti li figliuoli di quelli di Siria, e li giovani di gentile forma, li duchi e le signorie, e tutti li principi delli principi, e li nominati cavalieri.	23 the men of Babylon and all of Chaldea, Pekod, Shoa and Koa, along with all those of Assyria, attractive young men, all of them governors and officers, charioteers and warriors, all of them horsemen.
24 E verranno sopra te, ammaestrati e armati con carra e con ruote, la moltitudine de' popoli; saranno armati d' armadure di maglia e di scudo e con cappello d'acciaio contro a te da ogni parte; e darò dinanzi a loro lo giudicio, e giudicheranno te colli loro giudicii.	24 They shall come against you from the north with chariots and wagons and many peoples. Shields, bucklers, and helmets they shall array against you everywhere.
25 E porrò lo mio zelo in te, lo quale adopereranno teco con furore; e taglieranno lo tuo naso e le tue orecchie, e quello che rimarrà taglieranno collo coltello; ed egli piglieranno li tuoi figliuoli e le tue figliuole; e lo tuo novissimo sarà divorato al fuoco.	25 I will leave it to them to judge, and they will judge you by their own ordinances. I will let loose my jealousy against you, so that they shall deal with you in fury, cutting off your nose and ears; and what is left of you shall fall by the sword. They shall take away your sons and daughters, and what is left of you shall be devoured by fire.
26 E spogliaranno a te lo tuo vestimento, e torranno li (tuoi) vasi della tua gloria.	26 They shall strip off your clothes and seize your splendid ornaments.
27 E farò riposare la tua fellonia da te, e la tua fornicazione dalla terra di Egitto; e non leverai li tuoi occhi a loro, e non ti ricorderai più d' Egitto.	27 I will put an end to your lewdness and to the harlotry you began in Egypt; you shall no longer look toward it, nor shall you remember Egypt again.
28 Però che questo dice lo Signore Iddio: ecco, io darò te nelle mani di coloro che tu hai avuto in	28 For thus says the Lord GOD: I am now handing you over to those whom you hate, to those who fill you with disgust.
29 E averanno a fare teco con odio, e torrannoti tutte le tue fatiche, e lascerannoti ignuda e piena di vergogna delle tue fornicazioni, la tua fellonia e le tue fornicazioni.	29 They shall deal with you in hatred, seizing all that you have worked for and leaving you stark naked, so that your indecent nakedness is exposed. Your lewdness and harlotry
30 Hanno fatto questo a te, però che hai commesso fornicazione dopo le genti, tra le quali tu sei corrotta nelli loro idoli.	30 have brought these things upon you, because you played the harlot with the nations by defiling yourself with their idols.
31 Tu andasti per la via della tua sorella, e darò lo suo calice nella tua mano.	31 Because you followed in the path of your sister, I will hand you her cup.
32 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: tu berai lo calice della tua sorella, lo qual è profondo e largo; e sarai posta in derisione e subsannazione, la quale sei capacissima.	32 Thus says the Lord GOD: The cup of your sister you shall drink, so wide and deep, which holds so much,
33 Di ebrietà e di dolore sarai riempiuta, dello calice di tristizia e di dolore, e dello calice di Samaria tua sorella.	33 Filled with destruction and grief, a cup of dismay, the cup of your sister.
34 Berai, e bera'lo insino alla feccia, e divorerai li suoi pezzi, e lacererai le tue poppe; per ch' io hoe parlato, dice lo Signore Iddio.	34 You shall drain it dry, and gnaw at the very sherds of the cup, and you shall tear out your breasts; for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD.
35 E per questo dice lo Signore Iddio: però che m' hai dimenticato, e gittastimi dopo lo tuo corpo, tu in verità porterai la tua fellonia e le tue loro fornicazioni.	35 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have forgotten me and cast me behind your back, it is for you to bear the penalty of your lewdness and harlotry.
36 E disse Iddio a me: o figliuolo d' uomo, non giudichi tu Oolla e Ooliba, e annunzii loro le fellonie?	36 Then the LORD said to me: Son of man, would you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then make known to them their abominations.
37 Però che hanno commesso adulterio, e lo sangue è nella loro mano, e commisono fornicazione. colli loro idoli; e anche i loro figliuoli, i quali generarono a me, li offersono a divorare alli dii.	37 For they committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; to feed them they immolated the children they had borne me.
38 Ma queste cose feciono a me; corruppono lo mio santuario in quello dì, e scomunicarono li miei sabbati.	38 (This, too, they did to me: they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my sabbaths.
39 E quando offerirono i loro figliuoli alli loro idoli, e quando avvenne ch' entrassono nel mio santuario in quello di acciò ch' corrompessono quello santuario, anche questo feciono nel mezzo della mia casa.	39 On the very day they slew their children for their idols, they entered my sanctuary to desecrate it. Thus they acted within my house.)
40 Mandavano alli uomini che venivano dalla lunga, ai quali mandavano messaggi; adunque ecco che vennero quelli; de' quali tu ti lavasti, e se'ti adornata di mondo, e lisciasti li tuoi occhi collo liscio.	40 Moreover, they sent for men who had to come from afar, to whom messengers were sent. And so they came--and for them you bathed yourself, painted your eyes, and put on ornaments.
41 Tu sedesti nel bellissimo letto, e la mensa fu adornata inanzi a te; e ponesti sopra lei lo mio timiama e lo mio unguento.	41 You sat on a couch prepared for them, with a table spread before it, on which you had set my incense and oil.
42 E la voce della moltitudine rallegrantesi era in lei; e nelli uomini, i quali erano addotti della moltitudine delli uomini, e veniano del deserto, puosono le armille nelle loro mani, (le armille sono adornamento di mano, sì come sono guanti e altri adornamenti), e le bellissime corone nelli loro capi.	42 Then was heard the shout of a carefree mob in the city, and these were men brought in from the desert, who put bracelets on the women's arms and splendid diadems on their heads.
43 E dissi a colei ch' è trita nelli adulterii: testè sarà fornicata nella sua fornicazione ancora costei.	43 So I said: "Oh, this woman jaded with adulteries! Now they will commit whoredom with her, and as for her. . . ."
44 Ed entrarono a lei sì come ad una meretrice; così entravano a Oolla e a Ooliba, ch' erano femine fellone.	44 And indeed they did come to her as men come to a harlot. Thus they came to Oholah and Oholibah, the lewd women.
45 Adunque li uomini sono giusti; questi giudicheranno quelle per giudicio dello adulterio e per lo giudicio delli spargenti lo sangue; però che sono adultere, e lo sangue è nelle loro mani, (e commisono fornicazione colli loro idoli).	45 But just men shall punish them with the sentence meted out to adulteresses and murderesses, for they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands.
46 Però [che] questo dice lo Signore Iddio : (ancora) adduci contro a loro la moltitudine, e dà loro in tumulto e in rapina.	46 Thus says the Lord GOD: Summon an assembly against them, and deliver them over to terror and plunder.
47 E sieno lapidate colle pietre da' popoli, e siano cavate dalli loro coltelli; e uccideranno li loro figliuoli e le loro figliuole, e accenderanno col fuoco le loro case.	47 The assembly shall stone them and hack them to pieces with their swords. They shall slay their sons and daughters, and burn their houses with fire.
48 E leveronne la fellonia della terra; impareranno tutte le femine, che loro non facciano secondo la fellonia loro.	48 Thus I will put an end to lewdness in the land, and all the women will be warned not to imitate your lewdness.
49 E daranno la vostra fellonia sopra voi, e porterete li peccati delli vostri idoli; e saprete ch' io sono lo Signore Iddio.	49 They shall inflict on you the penalty of your lewdness, and you shall pay for your sins of idolatry. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
