Isaia 34

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Accostatevi, genti, e udite; e ascoltate voi, populi; oda la terra, e la sua plenitudine; lo mondo, e ogni suo germoglio.	1 Come near, ye Gentiles, and hear, and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein, the world, and every thing that cometh forth of it.
2 Però che la indignazione del Signore sì è sopra tutte le genti, e lo suo furore sì è sopra ogni loro milizia; egli uccise loro, e puosegli in uccisione.	2 For the indignation of the Lord if upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath killed them, and delivered them to slaughter.
3 Li loro morti saranno gettati via, e delli loro corpi sarà puzzo grande; e li monti staranno scaduti per lo loro sangue.	3 Their slain shall be cast forth, and out of their carcasses shall rise a slink: the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4 E ogni milizia delli cieli mancherà, e li cieli si quaderneranno come libro; e ogni loro milizia cadrà, come la foglia della vigna ovvero del fico.	4 And all the host of the heavens shall pine away, and the heavens shall be folded together as a book: and all their host shall fall down as the leaf falleth from the vine, and from the fig tree.
5 Però che il mio coltello è inebriato in cielo; ecco ch' egli scenderà sopra Idumea, e sopra lo populo della mia uccisione al giudicio.	5 For my sword is inebriated in heaven: behold it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my slaughter unto judgment.
6 Lo coltello del Signore è ripieno di sangue, ingrassato è lo mangiare del sangue delli agnelli e delli becchi, e del sangue de' medollati montoni; lo macello delle bestie del Signore è in Bosra (cioè in una contrada), e la grande uccisione è in Edom.	6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made thick with the blood of lambs and buck goats, with the blood of rams full of marrow: for there is a victim of the Lord in Bosra and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 E li unicorni scenderanno con loro, e li tori [con li] potenti; la terra sarà inebriata del loro sangue, e la loro terra dello mangiare delle bestie grasse.	7 And the unicorns shall go down with them, and the bulls with the mighty: their land shall be soaked with blood, and their ground with the fat of fat ones.
8 Però ch' è lo di della vendetta del Signore, l'anno della retribuzione del giudicio di Sion.	8 For it is the day of the vengeance of the Lord, the year of recompenses of the judgment of Sion.
9 E (quando) li suoi fiumicelli si convertiranno in pece,. e la sua terra sarà pece ardente.	9 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the ground thereof into brimstone: and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
10 Di dì e di notte non si spegnerà; in sempiterno lo suo fumo salirà; da generazione in generazione sarà desolata; IN SECULA SECULORUM non sarà chi passi per quella.	10 Night and day it shall not be quenched, the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste, none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
11 E possederanno quella l'onocratolo; (vi sono alcuni che dicono, che è lo pellicano, e intendesi per lo solitario; lo Papia dice ch' è simile al cecero, e sono di due generazioni); e ivi abiteranno anche lo riccio e lo corvo e la cicogna; e sarà distesa sopra quella la misura, acciò che sia arrecata a niente, e lo perpendicolo (cioè lo regulo del muratore) per desolazione.	11 The bittern and ericius shall possess it: and the ibis and the raven shall dwell in it: and a line shall be stretched out upon it, to bring it to nothing, and a plummet, unto desolation.
12 E le sue genti nobili non saranno ivi; ma molto maggiormente chiameranno lo re, e tutti li principi saranno in nulla.	12 The nobles thereof shall not be there: they shall call rather upon the king, and all the princes thereof shall be nothing.
13 E nelle loro case nasceranno spine e ortiche, e cardi (ovvero quella erba, che noi chiamiamo orecchie di prete, nascerà in sulle mura (ovvero) nelle armadure; e sarà camera di dragoni, e pastura di struzzi.	13 And thorns and nettles shall grow up in its houses, and the thistle in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be the habitation of dragons, and the pasture of ostriches.
14 E verranno incontro li demonii [al]lo onocentauro; i pelosi chiameranno l'uno all' altro; (cioè uno animale il quale è mezzo asino e mezzo toro; ovvero per uomini salvatichi, ovvero per demonii, ovvero che s' intende per animali, che sono fatti a modo di uomo e stanno sopra due piedi, e difendonsi colle mani e con le pietre o con bastone contro alli cacciatori; le carni loro sono molto saporose, e però si chiamano cacciagioni regali); e quivi giacerà lamia, e troverà riposo a sè. (Lamia sì ha piedi di cavallo; con tutto da indi in suso sì è a modo della femina; della quale dice Isidoro, per modo di favola, ch' ella va di notte a divorare i fanciulli piccoli).	14 And demons and monsters shall meet, and the hairy ones shall cry out one to another, there hath the lamia lain down, and found rest for herself.
15 Qui ebbe la tana lo riccio, e nutricò li figliuoli, e carò intorno, e nutricossi alla sua ombra; quivi si radunarono li nibbi, l' uno all' altro.	15 There hath the ericius had its hole, and brought up its young ones, and hath dug round about, and cherished them in the shadow thereof: thither are the kites gathered together one to another.
16 Richiedete diligentemente nello libro del Signore, e leggete; l' uno di loro non vi mancò, l'uno all' altro non addomandò; però che quello che procede dalla mia bocca, egli lo mandò, e lo suo spirito esso congregarà quelli.	16 Search ye diligently in the book of the Lord, and read: not one of them was wanting, one hath not sought for the other: for that which proceedeth out of my mouth, he hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them.
17 Ed egli lasciò loro la parte, e la sua mano divise quella a loro a misura; e possederanno quella in eterno, e abiteranno in quella di generazione in generazione.	17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it to them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation they shall dwell therein.
