1 King Nebuchadnezzar made a statue of gold, sixty cubits high and six cubits wide, and he set it up in the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.	1 Цар Навуходоносор звелів зробити золотого боввана, 60 ліктів заввишки й 6 ліктів завширшки, й наказав поставити його на рівнині Дура у Вавилонській області.
2 Then king Nebuchadnezzar sent to gather together the governors, magistrates and judges, generals and sovereigns and commanders, and all the leaders of the regions, to come together for the dedication of the statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had raised.	2 І послав цар Навуходоносор зібрати сатрапів, правителів, намісників, воєвод, скарбників, суддів, радників та всіх володарів країн, аби прийшли на врочисте відкриття боввана, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор.
3 Then the governors, magistrates and judges, generals and sovereigns and nobles, who were appointed to power, and all the leaders of the regions were brought together so as to convene for the dedication of the statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had raised. And so they stood before the statue that king Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	3 І зібралися сатрапи, правителі, намісники, воєводи, скарбники, судді, радники й усі владці країн на врочисте відкриття боввана, що його поставив цар Навуходоносор, і стали перед бовваном, якого поставив цар Навуходоносор.
4 And a herald proclaimed loudly, “To you it is said, to you peoples, tribes, and languages,	4 Тоді окличник гукнув голосно: «Вам, о народи, племена й язики, звелено:
5 that in the hour when you will hear the sound of the trumpet and the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, you must fall down and adore the gold statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar has set up.	5 Тієї хвилі, як почуєте звук сурми, сопілки, цитри, гарфи, гусел та гудьби й усякого роду музичних приладів, ви впадете ниць і вклонитеся золотому бовванові, що поставив його цар Навуходоносор.
6 But if anyone will not bow down and adore, in the same hour he will be cast into a furnace of burning fire.”	6 А хто не впаде ниць і не вклониться, вмить буде вкинутий у піч, розжарену вогнем.»
7 After this, therefore, as soon as all the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, all the peoples, tribes, and languages fell down and adored the gold statue, which king Nebuchadnezzar had set up.	7 Тим то коли всі народи почули звук сурми, сопілки, цитри, гарфи, гусел, гудьби й усякого роду музичних приладів, попадали всі народи, племена й язики й вклонилися золотому бовванові, що поставив його цар Навуходоносор.
8 And soon, about the same time, some influential Chaldeans came and accused the Jews,	8 Саме в той час деякі халдеї приступили з доносом на юдеїв.
9 and they said to king Nebuchadnezzar, “O king, live forever.	9 Вони заговорили й сказали цареві Навуходоносорові: «Царю, жий повіки!
10 You, O king, have established a decree, so that every man who might hear the sound of the trumpet, the pipe and the lute, the harp and the psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, will prostrate himself and adore the gold statue.	10 Ти, царю, дав наказ, аби кожен чоловік, як почує звук сурми, сопілки, цитри, гарфи, гусел, гудьби та іншого роду музичних: приладів, упав ниць і вклонився золотому бовванові;
11 But if any man will not fall down and adore, he would be cast into a furnace of burning fire.	11 а хто не впаде ниць і не вклониться, буде вкинутий у піч, розжарену вогнем.
12 Yet there are influential Jews, whom you have appointed over the works of the region of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have scorned your decree. They do not worship your gods, and they do not adore the gold statue which you have raised up.”	12 Та мужі юдейські, що ти настановив був над справами Вавилонського краю — Седрах, Мисах та Авденаго, — ці мужі нехтують твоїм наказом, царю: вони твоїм богам не служать і золотому бовванові, що ти поставив, не кланяються.»
13 Then Nebuchadnezzar, in fury and in wrath, commanded that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego should be brought, and so, without delay, they were brought before the king.	13 Тоді Навуходоносор, розгніваний і лютий, звелів привести Седраха, Мисаха та Авденаго; і привели цих мужів перед царя.
14 And king Nebuchadnezzar addressed them and said, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not worship my gods, nor adore the gold statue, which I have set up?	14 Навуходоносор заговорив до них і мовив: «Чи ви, Седраху, Мисаху та Авденаго, справді моїм богам не хочете служити й золотому бовванові, що я поставив, не хочете кланятись?
15 Therefore, if you are prepared now, whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet, pipe, lute, harp and psaltery, and of the symphony and every kind of music, prostrate yourselves and adore the statue which I have made. But if you will not adore, in the same hour you will be cast into the furnace of burning fire. And who is the God that will rescue you from my hand?”	15 Отож тепер, якщо ви готові, скоро почуєте звук сурми, сопілки, цитри, гарфи, гуслів, гудьби та всякого роду музичних приладів, впасти ниць і вклонитись бовванові, що я звелів зробити — гаразд; якщо ж не вклонитесь, умить будете вкинуті в піч, розжарену вогнем, і тоді який бог визволить вас із моєї руки?»
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to king Nebuchadnezzar, “It is not right for us to obey you in this matter.	16 Седрах, Мисах та Авденаго у відповідь цареві Навуходоносорові сказали: «Ми не маємо потреби тобі на це відповідати.
17 For behold our God, whom we worship, is able to rescue us from the oven of burning fire and to free us from your hands, O king.	17 Коли Бог, якому ми служимо, зможе нас визволити з печі, розжареної вогнем, він визволить нас, царю, й з твоєї руки,
18 But even if he will not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not worship your gods, nor adore the gold statue, which you have raised up.”	18 а коли ні, то нехай тобі, царю, буде відомо, що ми твоїм богам не служитимемо й золотому бовванові, що ти поставив, не вклонятимемось.»
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with fury and the appearance of his face was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and he commanded that the furnace should be heated to seven times its usual fire.	19 Тоді Навуходоносор запалав люттю, і вигляд його обличчя змінився супроти Седраха, Мисаха й Авденаго. Заговорив він знову й повелів розпалити піч усемеро більше, ніж її звичайно розпалювано,
20 And he ordered the strongest men of his army to bind the feet of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the furnace of burning fire.	20 і наказав найдужчим мужам із свого війська зв’язати Седраха, Мисаха й Авденаго та й вкинути їх у піч, розжарену вогнем.
21 And immediately these men were bound, and along with their coats, and their hats, and their shoes, and their garments, were cast into the middle of the furnace of burning fire.	21 І зараз же їх зв’язано у їхній спідній та верхній одежі, з їхніми завоями на голові й з іншим убранням на них і вкинуто в піч, розжарену вогнем.
22 But the king’s order was so urgent that the furnace was heated excessively. As a result, those men who had cast in Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, were killed by the flame of the fire.	22 Але що наказ царя був суворий, і піч була розпалена незвичайно, полум’я від вогню вбило тих мужів, що вкидали Седраха, Мисаха й Авденаго.
23 But these three men, that is, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, having been bound, fell down in the middle of the oven of burning fire.	23 Ці ж троє мужів — Седрах, Мисах та Авденаго — впали в піч, розпалену вогнем, зв’язані.
24 And they were walking in the midst of the flame, praising God and blessing the Lord.	24 І ходили вони серед полум’я, хваливши Бога й благословивши Господа.
25 Then Azariah, while standing, prayed in this manner, and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire, he said:	25 Встав Азарія і, відкривши уста свої серед вогню, помолився і так промовив:
26 “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and your name is praiseworthy and glorious for all ages.	26 «Благословен єси, Господи, Боже батьків наших, і хвали достойний; ім’я твоє преславне на всі віки;
27 For you are just in all the things that you have accomplished for us, and all your works are true, and your ways are right, and all your judgments are true.	27 бо ти праведний у всьому, що вчинив єси нам, і всі діла твої праведні, й усі дороги твої праві, і присуди твої усі — правдиві.
28 For you have made equally true judgments in all the things that you have brought upon us and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our fathers. For in truth and in judgment, you have brought down all these things because of our sins.	28 Ти учинив присуди правдиві в усьому тому, що навів на нас і на святе місто батьків наших, на Єрусалим. Так! Присудом правдивим навів єси все те гріхів наших ради.
29 For we have sinned, and we have committed iniquity in withdrawing from you, and we have offended in all things.	29 Бо згрішили ми, вчинили беззаконство, від тебе відступивши; ми згрішили у всьому й заповідей твоїх не слухали.
30 And we have not listened to your precepts, nor have we observed or done as you have ordered us, so that it might go well with us.	30 Ми їх не пильнували, не чинили, як ти нам заповідав, щоб нам добре було.
31 Therefore, everything that you have brought upon us, and all that you have done for us, you have done in true judgment.	31 І все, що ти навів на нас, усе, що ти вчинив єси нам, — ти присудом учинив правдивим.
32 And you have delivered us into the hands of our enemies: traitors, unjust and most wicked, and to a king, unjust and most wicked, even more so than all others on earth.	32 Ти видав нас у руки супостатів беззаконних, відступників мерзенних, і несправедливому й найгіршому на всій землі цареві.
33 And now we are not able to open our mouths. We have become a shame and a disgrace to your servants and to those who worship you.	33 І нині нема як нам уста розтулити наші: ганьба й сором покрили слуг твоїх і тих, що тебе шанують.
34 Do not hand us over forever, we ask you, because of your name, and do not abolish your covenant.	34 Не відкидай же нас навіки імени твого ради, і не розривай завіту твого.
35 And do not withdraw your mercy from us, because of Abraham, your beloved, and Isaac, your servant, and Israel, your holy one.	35 Не забирай від нас милости твоєї, Авраама твого улюбленого ради й Ісаака, слуги твого, й Ізраїля, святого твого,
36 You have spoken with them, promising that you would multiply their offspring like the stars of heaven and like the sand on the seashore.	36 яким ти обіцяв був, що розмножиш їхнє потомство, як на небі зорі і як пісок при березі морському.
37 For we, O Lord, are diminished more than all other peoples, and we are brought low throughout all the earth, this day, because of our sins.	37 О, Господи, ми стали менші від усіх народів, принижені ми нині по всій землі гріхів наших ради.
38 Neither is there, at this time, a leader, or a ruler, or a prophet, nor any holocaust, or sacrifice, or oblation, or incense, or place of first fruits, in your eyes,	38 Оце тепер нема у нас ні князя, ні вождя, ні пророка, ні всепалення, ні жертви, ні офіри, ні кадила, ні місця, де б приносити первоплоди і знаходити твоє милосердя.
39 so that we may be able to find your mercy. Nevertheless, with a contrite soul and humble spirit, let us be accepted.	39 Якби ж то ти міг нас прийняти скрушеного серця ради й смиренного духу! Як усепалення баранів та волів, як безліч тучних ягнят,
40 Just as in the holocausts of rams and bullocks, and as in thousands of fat lambs, so let our sacrifice be in your sight this day, in order to please you. For there is no shame for those who trust in you.	40 так нехай буде перед тобою наша жертва нині, що хочемо тобі принести, бо нема сорому тим, що на тебе уповають.
41 And now we follow you wholeheartedly, and we fear you, and we seek your face.	41 І нині ми слідуємо за тобою всім серцем; ми тебе боїмося і твоє обличчя шукаємо — не сороми ж нас!
42 Do not put us to shame, but deal with us in agreement with your clemency and according to the multitude of your mercies.	42 Але обходься з нами за твоєю лагідністю і за твоєю милістю великою.
43 And rescue us by your wonders and give glory to your name, O Lord.	43 Вирятуй нас твоїми чудесами! О Господи, дай славу імені твоєму!
44 And let all those be confounded who lead your servants towards evil. May they be confounded by all your power and may their strength be crushed.	44 Хай осоромляться усі ті, що твоїм слугам зло чинять; хай засоромляться, позбавлені всієї своєї могутности, нехай розіб’ється їхня сила!
45 And may they know that you are the Lord, the only God, and glorious above the world.”	45 Нехай знають, що ти, Господи, Бог єдиний і славний на всю вселенну!»
46 And they did not cease, those attendants of the king who had cast them in, to heat the furnace with oil, and flax, and pitch, and brush.	46 Царські слуги, що вкинули їх, не переставали розпалювати печі ропою, смолою, клоччям та хмизом,
47 And the flame streamed forth above the furnace for forty-nine cubits.	47 так що полум’я піднялось на 49 ліктів поверх печі,
48 And the fire erupted and burnt those of the Chaldeans within its reach near the furnace.	48 і, вибухнувши, спалило тих халдеїв, що їх сягнуло при печі.
49 But the angel of the Lord descended with Azariah and his companions into the furnace; and he cast the flame of the fire out of the furnace.	49 Ангел же Господній зійшов з Азарією та його товаришами в піч, віддалив розпалений вогонь від печі
50 And he made the middle of the furnace like the blowing of a damp wind, and the fire did not touch them, nor afflict them, nor bother them at all.	50 і вчинив у середині печі так, немов би там повівав вітерець росистий, і вогонь їх зовсім не торкнувся, не завдав їм болю і не скоїв їм ніякої шкоди.
51 Then these three, as if with one voice, praised and glorified and blessed God, in the furnace, saying:	51 Тоді ті троє, немов одними устами, взяли хвалити, славити й благословляти в печі Бога, промовляючи:
52 “Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers: praiseworthy, and glorious, and exalted above all forever. And blessed is the holy name of your glory: praiseworthy, and exalted above all, for all ages.	52 «Благословен єси, Господи, Боже батьків наших, і достохвальний і вельми возносимий повіки; благословенно ім’я твоє святе й славне, і вельми достохвальне й возносиме повіки.
53 Blessed are you in the holy temple of your glory: praiseworthy above all and exalted above all forever.	53 Благословен єси у твоїм святім, славнім храмі і вельми хвальний і вельми славний повіки.
54 Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom: praiseworthy above all and exalted above all forever.	54 Благословен єси на престолі царства твого, і вельми воспіваний і вельми возносимий повіки.
55 Blessed are you who beholds the abyss and sits upon the cherubims: praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.	55 Благословен єси, що взираєш на безодні і возсідаєш на херувимах.
56 Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven: praiseworthy and glorious forever.	56 Благословен єси на небесній тверді, і хвальний і прославлений повіки.
57 All works of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	57 Благословіте Господа, усі діла Господні! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
58 Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	58 Благословіте Господа, ангели Господні! Хваліте й вознесіте його повіки.
59 Heaven, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	59 Благословіте, небеса, Господа! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
60 All waters that are above the heavens, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	60 Благословіте Господа, усі наднебесні води! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
61 All powers of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	61 Благословіте Господа, всі сили! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
62 Sun and moon, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	62 Благословіте Господа, сонце й місяць! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
63 Stars of heaven, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	63 Благословіте Господа, звізди небесні! Хваліте й вознесіте його повіки.
64 Every rain and dew, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	64 Благословіте Господа, дощі й роси! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
65 Every breath of God, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	65 Благословіте Господа, всі вітри! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
66 Fire and steam, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	66 Благословіте Господа, вогонь і спека! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
67 Cold and heat, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	67 Благословіте Господа, холод і гарячизна! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
68 Dews and frost, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	68 Благословіте Господа, роси й іней! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
69 Sleet and winter, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	69 Благословіте Господа крига й холоднеча! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
70 Ice and snow, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	70 Благословіте Господа, льоди й сніги! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
71 Nights and days, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	71 Благословіте Господа, дні й ночі! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
72 Light and darkness, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	72 Благословіте Господа, світло і пітьма! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
73 Lightning and clouds, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	73 Благословіте Господа, блискавки й хмари! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
74 May the land bless the Lord: and praise and exalt him above all forever.	74 Нехай земля благословить Господа! Хай хвалить і благословить його повіки.
75 Mountains and hills, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	75 Благословіте Господа, пагорби й гори! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
76 All things that grow in the land, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	76 Благослови Господа, все що на землі виростає! Хвали й возноси його повіки.
77 Fountains, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	77 Благословіте Господа, джерела! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
78 Seas and rivers, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	78 Благословіте Господа, моря й ріки! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
79 Whales and all things that move in the waters, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	79 Благословіте Господа, морські потвори й усе, що кишить у водах! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
80 All things that fly in the heavens, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	80 Благословіте Господа усі небесні птиці! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
81 All beasts and cattle, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	81 Благословіте Господа, всі дикі звірі й худоба! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
82 Sons of men, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	82 Благословіте Господа, сини людськії! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
83 May Israel bless the Lord: and praise and exalt him above all forever.	83 Благословіте Господа, ізраїльтяни! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
84 Priests of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	84 Благословіте Господа, священики Господні! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
85 Servants of the Lord, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	85 Благословіте Господа, слуги Господні! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
86 Spirits and souls of the just, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	86 Благословіте Господа, духи й душі справедливих! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
87 Those who are holy and humble in heart, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever.	87 Благословіте Господа, святі й смиренні серцем! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки.
88 Hananiah, Azariah, Mishael, bless the Lord: praise and exalt him above all forever. For he has delivered us from the underworld, and saved us from the hand of death, and freed us from the midst of the burning flame, and rescued us from the midst of the fire.	88 Благословіте Господа, Ананія, Азарія, Мисаїл! Хваліте й возносіте його повіки, бо він нас визволив із Шеолу і вирятував з руки смерти і спас нас із нутра розпаленої печі, і з-посеред вогню врятував нас.
89 Give thanks to the Lord because he is good: because his mercy is forever.	89 Хваліте Господа, бо добрий, бо повіки його милосердя.
90 All those who are pious, bless the Lord, the God of gods: praise him and acknowledge him because his mercy is for all generations.”	90 Благословіте Господа, Бога богів, ви всі богопоклонники! Хваліте його й возносіте, бо повіки його милосердя.»
91 Then king Nebuchadnezzar was astonished, and he quickly got up and said to his nobles: “Did we not cast three men shackled into the midst of the fire?” Answering the king, they said, “True, O king.”	91 (24) Тоді цар Навуходоносор здивувався, встав притьмом і заговорив до своїх радників, мовивши: «Чи не трьох мужів ми вкинули в вогонь зв’язаних?» Ті ж у відповідь цареві: «Справді так, царю!»
92 He answered and said, “Behold, I see four men unbound and walking in the midst of the fire, and no harm is in them, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of God.”	92 (25) Знову заговорив він і сказав: «А он я бачу чотирьох мужів незв’язаних, що ходять у вогні, і не видко на них шкоди, а вид четвертого схожий на сина Божого.»
93 Then Nebuchadnezzar approached the entrance of the furnace of burning fire, and he said, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, servants of the supreme God, come out and approach.” And immediately Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego went out from the midst of the fire.	93 (26) Тоді Навуходоносор приступив до челюстей розжареної вогнем печі й заговорив, кажучи: «Седраху, Мисаху та Авденаго, слуги найвищого Бога! Вийдіть і приступіть сюди!» І вийшли Седрах, Мисах і Авденаго з-посеред вогню.
94 And when the governors, and the magistrates, and the judges, and the powerful of the king had gathered together, they considered these men because the fire had no power against their bodies, and not a hair of their head had been scorched, and their pants had not been affected, and the smell of the fire had not passed onto them.	94 (27) Сатрапи, правителі, намісники й радники царські зібралися, щоб дивитись на цих мужів, над тілом яких вогонь не мав ніякої сили: волосся в них на голові не обсмалилось, одежа на них не змінилась, і чад вогню їх не торкнувся.
95 Then Nebuchadnezzar, bursting out, said, “Blessed is their God, the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel and rescued his servants who believed in him. And they altered the verdict of the king, and they delivered up their bodies, so that they would not serve or adore any god except their God.	95 (28) Тоді Навуходоносор заговорив, мовивши: «Благословен Бог Седраха, Мисаха та Авденаго, що послав свого ангела й визволив своїх слуг, які поклались на нього і не послухалися царського наказу, а віддали своє тіло, аби не служити й не поклонятись ніякому іншому богові, крім свого Бога!
96 Therefore, this decree is established by me: that every people, tribe, and language, whenever they have spoken blasphemy against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, will perish and their homes will be destroyed. For there is no other God who is able to save in this way.”	96 (29) Тому від мене дається наказ, щоб кожного, до якого б він народу, плетень чи язика не належав, хто вирече щось зневажливе супроти Бога Седраха, Мисаха й Авденаго, пошматували на кусні, а діла його обернули в руїну, бо нема іншого бога, який би міг так спасати.»
97 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.	97 (30) Тоді цар прийняв у велику ласку Седраха, Мисаха й Авденаго в Вавилонськім краю.
98 NEBUCHADNEZZAR, the king, to all peoples, nations, and languages, who dwell in the whole world, may peace be increased with you.	98 (31) Цар Навуходоносор усім народам, племенам і язикам, що живуть по всій землі: «Нехай ваш мир буде великий!
99 The supreme God has accomplished signs and wonders with me. Therefore, it has pleased me to proclaim	99 (32) Сподобалось мені оповістити вам про знаки й чудеса, які вчинив надо мною найвищий Бог.
100 his signs, which are great, and his wonders, which are mighty. For his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his power continues from generation to generation.	100 (33) Які ж великі його знаки! Які ж могутні його чуда! Царство його — царство вічне, і влада його — від роду й до роду!»
