1 And it happened that, when king Hezekiah had heard this, he rent his garments, and he wrapped himself in sackcloth, and he entered the house of the Lord.	1 Gdy to usłyszał król Ezechiasz, rozdarł swe szaty, okrył się worem i udał się do świątyni Pańskiej.
2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the house, and Shebna, the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah, the son of Amoz, the prophet.	2 Potem posłał Eliakima, zarządcę pałacu, i Szebnę, pisarza, i starszych kapłanów, obleczonych w wory, do proroka Izajasza, syna Amosa,
3 And they said to him: “Thus says Hezekiah: This day is a day of tribulation, and of rebuke, and of blasphemy. For the sons have arrived at the time for birth, but there is not enough strength to bring them forth.	3 by mu powiedzieli: Tak mówi Ezechiasz: Ten dzień jest dniem utrapienia i kary, i hańby. 4 Perhaps, somehow, the Lord your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of the Assyrians, his lord, has sent to blaspheme the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, lift up your prayers on behalf of the remnant which has been left behind.”	4 Może Pan, Bóg twój, raczy usłyszeć słowa rabsaka, którego przysłał król asyryjski, jego pan, aby znieważać Boga żywego, i skarze go za słowa, które usłyszał Pan, Bóg twój. 5 And so the servants of king Hezekiah went to Isaiah.	5 Przyszli więc słudzy króla Ezechiasza do Izajasza.
6 And Isaiah said to them: “You shall say this to your lord: Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid to face the words that you have heard, by which the servants of the king of the Assyrians blasphemed me.	6 Izajasz zaś rzekł do nich: Tak powiecie waszemu panu: Tak mówi Pan: Nie bój się słów, które usłyszałeś, a którymi pachołcy króla asyryjskiego rzucali Mi bluźnierstwa.
7 Behold, I will send a spirit to him, and he will hear a message, and he will return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword, in his own land.”	7 Oto Ja spowoduję w nim takie usposobienie, że na wiadomość, którą usłyszy, wróci do swego kraju; i sprawię, że w swoim kraju padnie od miecza.
8 Then Rabshakeh returned, and he found the king of the Assyrians fighting against Libnah. For he had heard that he had set out from Lachish.	8 Wrócił rabsak i zastał króla asyryjskiego zdobywającego Libnę. Posłyszał bowiem, że król ustąpił spod Lakisz.
9 And he heard from Tirhakah, the king of Ethiopia: “He has gone forth so that he may fight against you.” And when he had heard this, he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying:	9 Gdy Sennacheryb otrzymał wieść o Tirhace, królu Kusz, głoszącą: Wyruszył na wojnę przeciw tobie, gdy usłyszał, wyprawił posłów do Ezechiasza, polecając:
10 “You shall say this to Hezekiah, the king of Judah, saying: Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying: ‘Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.’	10 Tak powiecie Ezechiaszowi, królowi judzkiemu: Niech cię nie zwodzi twój Bóg, w którym położyłeś nadzieję, zapewnieniem: Nie będzie wydana Jerozolima w ręce króla asyryjskiego.
11 Behold, you have heard about all that the kings of the Assyrians have done to all the lands that they have conquered, and so, how can you be delivered?	11 Oto ty słyszałeś, co zrobili królowie asyryjscy wszystkim krajom, przeznaczając je na zagładę, a ty miałbyś ocaleć?
12 Have the gods of the nations rescued those whom my fathers have conquered: Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden who were at Telassar?	12 Czy bogowie narodów, jakie moi przodkowie wyniszczyli, ocalili je? Gozan i Charan, i Resef, i Edanitów, którzy byli w Telassar?

17 O Lord, incline your ear and listen. O Lord, open your eyes and see. And hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to blaspheme the living God.	17 Nakłoń, Panie, Twego ucha, i usłysz! Otwórz, Panie, Twoje oczy, i popatrz! Słuchaj wszystkich słów Sennacheryba, które przysłał, by znieważać Boga żywego.
18 For truly, O Lord, the kings of the Assyrians have laid waste to countries and territories.	18 To prawda, o Panie, że królowie asyryjscy wyniszczyli wszystkie narody i kraje ich.
19 And they have cast their gods into the fire. For these were not gods, but the works of men’s hands, of wood and of stone. And they broke them into pieces.	19 W ogień wrzucili ich bogów, bo ci nie byli bogami, lecz tylko dziełem rąk ludzkich z drzewa i z kamienia, więc ich zniweczyli.
20 And now, O Lord our God, save us from his hand. And let all the kingdoms of the earth acknowledge that you alone are Lord.”	20 Teraz więc, o Panie, Boże nasz, wybaw nas z jego ręki, i niech wiedzą wszystkie królestwa ziemi, że Ty sam jesteś Bogiem, o Panie!
21 And Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Because of what you have prayed to me about Sennacherib, the king of the Assyrians,	21 Wówczas Izajasz, syn Amosa, posłał Ezechiaszowi oświadczenie: Tak mówi Pan, Bóg Izraela: Wysłuchałem tego, o co się modliłeś do Mnie w sprawie Sennacheryba, króla Asyrii.
22 this is the word that the Lord has spoken over him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and mocked you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.	22 Oto wyrocznia, którą wydał Pan na niego: Gardzi tobą, szydzi z ciebie Dziewica, Córa Syjonu; za tobą potrząsa głową Córa Jeruzalem.
23 Whom have you insulted? And whom have you blasphemed? And against whom have you lifted up your voice and raised up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel!	23 Komuś ubliżył i komu bluźnił? Przeciw komu twój głos podniosłeś i w górę wzbiłeś twe oczy? Przeciw Świętemu Izraela!
24 By the hand of your servants, you have reproached the Lord. And you have said: ‘With a multitude of my four-horse chariots, I have ascended the heights of the mountains adjoining Lebanon. And I will cut down its lofty cedars and its choice pine trees. And I will reach the top of its summit, to the forest of its Carmel.	24 Przez swych służalców urągałeś Panu. Mówiłeś: Z mnóstwem mych rydwanów wyszedłem na szczyty górskie, na najdalsze grzbiety Libanu. Wyciąłem jego cedry najwyższe, co najpiękniejsze jego cyprysy. 25 I dug deep, and I drank water, and I dried up all the river banks with the sole of my foot.’	25 Drążyłem studnie i piłem obce wody, stopami nóg moich wysuszyłem wszystkie rzeki Egiptu.
26 Have you not heard what I have done to it in past times? In ancient times, I formed it. And now I have brought it forth. And it has been made so that the hills and the fortified cities would fight together, unto its destruction.	26 Czy nie słyszałeś? Z dawna to przygotowałem. 27 Their inhabitants had unsteady hands. They trembled and were confused. They became like the plants of the field, and the grass of the pastures, and like the weeds on the rooftops, which wither before they are mature.	27 Mieszkańcy ich bezsilni, przelękli się i okryli wstydem. Stali się jak rośliny na polu i jak młoda trawa zielona, jak zielsko na dachach spalone podmuchem wiatru wschodniego.
28 I know your habitation, and your arrival, and your departure, and your madness against me.	28 Wiem, kiedy wstajesz i kiedy spoczywasz, kiedy wychodzisz i kiedy powracasz, i jak cię ponosi złość przeciw Mnie.
29 When you became angry against me, your arrogance rose up to my ears. Therefore, I will place a ring in your nose, and a bit between your lips. And I will turn you back on the road by which you arrived.	29 Ponieważ cię złość ponosi przeciw Mnie i twa zuchwałość doszła moich uszu, przeto ci w nozdrza założę me kolce i wędzidło moje na wargi, by zmusić cię do odwrotu drogą, którą przybyłeś.
30 But this shall be a sign for you: Eat, in this year, whatever springs up on its own. And in the second year, eat fruits. But in the third year, sow and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit.	30 To niechaj ci za znak posłuży: w tym roku żywcie się ziarnem pozostawionym po zbiorze; na przyszły zaś rok tym, co samo obrodzi, ale na trzeci rok siejcie i zbierajcie, zakładajcie winnice i spożywajcie z nich owoce.
31 And what will be saved from the house of Judah, and what is left behind, will form deep roots, and will bear high fruits.	31 Reszta ocalałych z domu Judy ponownie zapuści w głąb korzenie i w górze wyda owoce.
32 For from Jerusalem, a remnant shall go forth, and salvation from mount Zion. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.	32 Albowiem z Jeruzalem wyjdzie Reszta i z góry Syjonu garstka ocalałych. Zazdrosna miłość Pana Zastępów tego dokona.
33 For this reason, thus says the Lord about the king of the Assyrians: He will not enter this city, nor shoot an arrow into it, nor overtake it with a shield, nor dig a rampart all around it.	33 Dlatego tak mówi Pan o królu asyryjskim: Nie wejdzie on do tego miasta ani nie wypuści tam strzały, nie nastawi przeciw niemu tarczy ani nie usypie wału.
34 He will return on the road by which he arrived. And into this city, he will not enter, says the Lord.	34 Drogą tą samą, którą przybył, powróci, a do miasta tego nie wejdzie. - Wyrocznia Pana.
35 And I will protect this city, so that I may save it for my own sake, and for the sake of David, my servant.”	35 Otoczę opieką to miasto i ocalę je, przez wzgląd na Mnie i na sługę mego Dawida.
36 Then the Angel of the Lord went forth and struck down, in the camp of the Assyrians, one hundred eighty-five thousand. And they arose in the morning, and behold, all these were dead bodies.	36 Tejże samej nocy wyszedł Anioł Pański i pobił w obozie Asyryjczyków sto osiemdziesiąt pięć tysięcy. I oto rano, gdy trzeba było wstawać, wszyscy oni byli martwi.
37 And Sennacherib, the king of the Assyrians, departed and went away. And he returned and lived at Nineveh.	37 Sennacheryb więc, król Asyrii, zwinął obóz i odszedł; wrócił się i pozostał w Niniwie.
38 And it happened that, as he was adoring his god in the temple of Nisroch, his sons, Adramelech and Sharezer, struck him with the sword. And they fled into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon, his son, reigned in his place.	38 A zdarzyło się że gdy się on modlił w świątyni Nisroka, swego bożka, synowie jego, Adramelek i Sereser, zabili go mieczem, a sami zbiegli do kraju Ararat. Syn jego, Asarhaddon, został w jego miejsce królem.
