Job 35

1 Then Elihu proceeded and said:	1 Adunque Eliu anche queste cose disse:
2 Do you think it right to say, "I am just rather than God?"	2 Or parti qui eguale lo tuo pensiero, che tu dicesti io sono più giusto che Iddio?
3 To say, "What does it profit me; what advantage have I more than if I had sinned?"	3 Anche dicesti: non piace a te quello che è diritto ovvero, che ti farà prò se io peccai?
4 I have words for a reply to you and your three companions as well.	4 Adunque io risponderoe a' tuoi sermoni, e agli amici tuoi teco,
5 Look up to the skies and behold; regard the heavens high above you.	5 Guarda lo cielo, e ragguarda, e contempla l'aria, che sia più alta di te.
6 If you sin, what injury do you do to God? Even if your offenses are many, how do you hurt him?	6 Se peccherai, che nuocerai a lui? e se moltiplicate saranno le tue iniquitadi, che farai contro a lui?
7 If you are righteous, what do you give him, or what does he receive from your hand?	7 E se pur giustamente farai, che donerai a lui, ovvero che torrà dalla mano tua?
8 Your wickedness can affect only a man like yourself; and your justice only a fellow human being.	8 All' uomo, che è simile a te, nuocerà la tua iniquità; e lo figliuolo dell' uomo aiuterae la tua giustizia.
9 In great oppression men cry out; they call for help because of the power of the mighty,	9 Per la moltitudine delli calunniatori piangeranno; e urleranno per la forza del braccio de' tiranni.
10 Saying, "Where is God, my Maker, who has given visions in the night,	10 E non disse: dove è Iddio, il quale fece me, il quale diede li versi nella notte?
11 Taught us rather than the beasts of the earth, and made us wise rather than the birds of the heavens?"	11 il quale ammaestra noi sopra le bestie della terra, e sopra li uccelli del cielo ammaestra noi?
12 Though thus they cry out, he answers not against the pride of the wicked.	12 Lui chiameranno, e non esaudirà per la (sua) superbia de' rei.
13 But it is idle to say God does not hear or that the Almighty does not take notice.	13 Adunque non udirae Iddio indarno, e lo Onnipotente ragguarderà la cagione di ciascuno.
14 Even though you say that you see him not, the case is before him; with trembling should you wait upon him.	14 Ancora quando tu dirai: non considera; giudicare dinanzi a lui, e aspetta lui.
15 But now that you have done otherwise, God's anger punishes, nor does he show concern that a man will die.	15 E ora non dae lo suo furore, nè della fellonia si vendica fortemente.
16 Yet Job to no purpose opens his mouth, and without knowledge multiplies words.	16 Adunque Iob indarno aperse la sua bocca, e sanza scienza le parole moltiplica.
