1 Genealogia di Gesù Cristo figlio di Davide, figlio di Abramo.	1 THE book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abramo generò Isacco, Isacco generò Giacobbe, Giacobbe generò Giuda e i suoi fratelli,	2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

19 Giuseppe suo sposo, poiché era uomo giusto e non voleva accusarla pubblicamente, pensò di ripudiarla in segreto.	19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly.
20 Mentre però stava considerando queste cose, ecco, gli apparve in sogno un angelo del Signore e gli disse: «Giuseppe, figlio di Davide, non temere di prendere con te Maria, tua sposa. Infatti il bambino che è generato in lei viene dallo Spirito Santo;	20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit;
21 ella darà alla luce un figlio e tu lo chiamerai Gesù: egli infatti salverà il suo popolo dai suoi peccati».	21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
22 Tutto questo è avvenuto perché si compisse ciò che era stato detto dal Signore per mezzo del profeta:	22 All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 Ecco, la vergine concepirà e darà alla luce un figlio: a lui sarà dato il nome di Emmanuele, che significa Dio con noi.	23 "Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel" (which means, God with us).
24 Quando si destò dal sonno, Giuseppe fece come gli aveva ordinato l’angelo del Signore e prese con sé la sua sposa;	24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife,
25 senza che egli la conoscesse, ella diede alla luce un figlio ed egli lo chiamò Gesù.	25 but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.
