1 Canto delle salite. Di Davide.Se il Signore non fosse stato per noi– lo dica Israele –,	1 [Song of Ascents Of David] If Yahweh had not been on our side -- let Israel repeat it-
2 se il Signore non fosse stato per noi,quando eravamo assaliti,	2 if Yahweh had not been on our side when people attacked us,
3 allora ci avrebbero inghiottiti vivi,quando divampò contro di noi la loro collera.	3 they would have swal owed us alive in the heat of their anger.
4 Allora le acque ci avrebbero travolti,un torrente ci avrebbe sommersi;	4 Then water was washing us away, a torrent running right over us;
5 allora ci avrebbero sommersiacque impetuose.	5 running right over us then were turbulent waters.
6 Sia benedetto il Signore,che non ci ha consegnati in preda ai loro denti.	6 Blessed be Yahweh for not letting us fall a prey to their teeth!
7 Siamo stati liberati come un passerodal laccio dei cacciatori:il laccio si è spezzatoe noi siamo scampati.	7 We escaped like a bird from the fowlers' net. The net was broken and we escaped;
8 Il nostro aiuto è nel nome del Signore:egli ha fatto cielo e terra.	8 our help is in the name of Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.
