Hebreos 12

1 Por tanto, también nosotros, teniendo en torno nuestro tan gran nube de testigos, sacudamos todo lastre y el pecado que nos asedia, y corramos con fortaleza la prueba que se nos propone,	1 Furthermore, since we also have so great a cloud of witnesses over us, let us set aside every burden and sin which may surround us, and advance, through patience, to the struggle offered to us.
2 fijos los ojos en Jesús, el que inicia y consuma la fe, el cual, en lugar del gozo que se le proponía, soportó la cruz sin miedo a la ignominia y está sentado a la diestra del trono de Dios.	2 Let us gaze upon Jesus, as the Author and the completion of our faith, who, having joy laid out before him, endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and who now sits at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 Fijaos en aquel que soportó tal contradicción de parte de los pecadores, para que no desfallezcáis faltos de ánimo.	3 So then, meditate upon him who endured such adversity from sinners against himself, so that you may not become weary, failing in your souls.
4 No habéis resistido todavía hasta llegar a la sangre en vuestra lucha contra el pecado.	4 For you have not yet resisted unto blood, while striving against sin.
5 Habéis echado en olvido la exhortación que como a hijos se os dirije: Hijo mío, no menosprecies la corrección del Señor; ni te desanimes al ser reprendido por él.	5 And you have forgotten the consolation which speaks to you like sons, saying: “My son, do not be willing to neglect the discipline of the Lord. Neither should you become weary, while being rebuked by him.”
6 Pues a quien ama el Señor, le corrige; y azota a todos los hijos que acoge.	6 For whomever the Lord loves, he chastises. And every son whom he accepts, he scourges.
7 Sufrís para corrección vuestra. Como a hijos os trata Dios, y ¿qué hijo hay a quien su padre no corrige?	7 Persevere in discipline. God presents you to himself as sons. But what son is there, whom his father does not correct?
8 Mas si quedáis sin corrección, cosa que todos reciben, señal de que sois bastardos y no hijos.	8 But if you are without that discipline in which all have become sharers, then you are of adultery, and you are not sons.
9 Además, teníamos a nuestros padres según la carne, que nos corregían, y les respetábamos. ¿No nos someteremos mejor al Padre de los espíritus para vivir?	9 Then, too, we have certainly had the fathers of our flesh as instructors, and we reverenced them. Should we not obey the Father of spirits all the more, and so live?
10 ¡Eso que ellos nos corregían según sus luces y para poco tiempo!; mas él, para provecho nuestro, en orden a hacernos partícipes de su santidad.	10 And indeed, for a few days and according to their own wishes, they instructed us. But he does so to our benefit, so that we may receive his sanctification.
11 Cierto que ninguna corrección es de momento agradable, sino penosa; pero luego produce fruto apacible de justicia a los ejercitados en ella.	11 Now every discipline, in the present time, does not seem a gladness, of course, but a grief. But afterwards, it will repay a most peaceful fruit of justice to those who become trained in it.
12 Por tanto, levantad las manos caídas y las rodillas entumecidas	12 Because of this, lift up your lazy hands and your lax knees,
13 y enderezad para vuestros pies los caminos tortuosos, para que el cojo no se descoyunte, sino que más bien se cure.	13 and straighten the path of your feet, so that no one, being lame, may wander astray, but instead may be healed.
14 Procurad la paz con todos y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor.	14 Pursue peace with everyone. Pursue sanctity, without which no one shall see God.
15 Poned cuidado en que nadie se vea privado de la gracia de Dios; en que ninguna raíz amarga retoñe ni os turbe y por ella llegue a inficionarse la comunidad.	15 Be contemplative, lest anyone lack the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness spring up and impede you, and by it, many might be defiled,
16 Que no haya ningún fornicario o impío como Esaú, que por una comida vendió su primogenitura.	16 lest any fornicator or worldly person be like Esau, who, for the sake of one meal, sold his birthright.
17 Ya sabéis cómo luego quiso heredar la bendición; pero fue rechazado y no logró un cambio de parecer, aunque lo procuró con lágrimas.	17 For you know that afterwards, when he desired to inherit the benediction, he was rejected. For he found no place for repentance, even though he had sought it with tears.
18 No os habéis acercado a una realidad sensible: fuego ardiente, oscuridad, tinieblas, huracán,	18 But you have not drawn near to a tangible mountain, or a burning fire, or a whirlwind, or a mist, or a storm,
19 sonido de trompeta y a un ruido de palabras tal, que suplicaron los que lo oyeron no se les hablara más.	19 or the sound of a trumpet, or a voice of words. Those who had experienced these things excused themselves, lest the Word be spoken to them.
20 Es que no podían soportar esta orden: El que toque el monte, aunque sea un animal, será lapidado.	20 For they could not bear what was said, and so, if even a beast would have touched the mountain, it would have been stoned.
21 Tan terrible era el espectáculo, que el mismo Moisés dijo: Espantado estoy y temblando.	21 And what was seen was so terrible that even Moses said: “I am terrified, and so, I tremble.”
22 Vosotros, en cambio, os habéis acercado al monte Sión, a la ciudad de Dios vivo, la Jerusalén celestial, y a miríadas de ángeles, reunión solemne	22 But you have drawn near to mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to the company of many thousands of Angels,
23 y asamblea de los primogénitos inscritos en los cielos, y a Dios, juez universal, y a los espíritus de los justos llegados ya a su consumación,	23 and to the Church of the first-born, those who have been inscribed in the heavens, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the just made perfect,
24 y a Jesús, mediador de una nueva Alianza, y a la aspersión purificadora de una sangre que habla mejor que la de Abel.	24 and to Jesus, the Mediator of the New Testament, and to a sprinkling of blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
25 Guardaos de rechazar al que os habla; pues si los que rechazaron al que promulgaba los oráculos desde la tierra no escaparon al castigo, mucho menos nosotros, si volvemos la espalda al que nos habla desde el cielo.	25 Be careful not to reject the One who is speaking. For if those who rejected him who was speaking upon the earth were not able to escape, so much more we who might turn away from the One who is speaking to us from heaven.
26 Su voz conmovió entonces la tierra. Mas ahora hace esta promesa: Una vez más haré yo que se estremezca no sólo la tierra, sino también el cielo.	26 Then, his voice moved the earth. But now, he makes a promise, saying: “There is still one more time, and then I will move, not only the earth, but also heaven itself.”
27 Estas palabras, una vez más, quieren decir que las cosas conmovidas se cambiarán, ya que son realidades creadas, a fin de que permanezcan las inconmovibles.	27 And so, in saying, “There is still one more time,” he declares the transfer of the moveable things of creation, so that those things which are immoveable may remain.
28 Por eso, nosotros que recibimos un reino inconmovible, hemos de mantener la gracia y, mediante ella, ofrecer a Dios un culto que le sea grato, con religiosa piedad y reverencia,	28 Thus, in receiving an immoveable kingdom, we have grace. So, through grace, let us be of service, by pleasing God with fear and reverence.
29 pues nuestro Dios es fuego devorador.	29 For our God is a consuming fire.
