Génesis 22

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Después de estas cosas sucedió que Dios tentó a Abraham y le dijo: «¡Abraham, Abraham!» El respondió: «Heme aquí.»	1 It happened some time later that God put Abraham to the test. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he called. 'Here Iam,' he replied.
2 Díjole: «Toma a tu hijo, a tu único, al que amas, a Isaac, vete al país de Moria y ofrécele allí en holocausto en uno de los montes, el que yo te diga.»	2 God said, 'Take your son, your only son, your beloved Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, where youare to offer him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I shal point out to you.'
3 Levantóse, pues, Abraham de madrugada, aparejó su asno y tomó consigo a dos mozos y a su hijo Isaac. Partió la leña del holocausto y se puso en marcha hacia el lugar que le había dicho Dios.	3 Early next morning Abraham saddled his donkey and took with him two of his servants and his sonIsaac. He chopped wood for the burnt offering and started on his journey to the place which God had indicated tohim.
4 Al tercer día levantó Abraham los ojos y vio el lugar desde lejos.	4 On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
5 Entonces dijo Abraham a sus mozos: «Quedaos aquí con el asno. Yo y el muchacho iremos hasta allí, haremos adoración y volveremos donde vosotros.»	5 Then Abraham said to his servants, 'Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I are going over there;we shal worship and then come back to you.'
6 Tomó Abraham la leña del holocausto, la cargó sobre su hijo Isaac, tomó en su mano el fuego y el cuchillo, y se fueron los dos juntos.	6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering, loaded it on Isaac, and carried in his own hands the fireand the knife. Then the two of them set out together.
7 Dijo Isaac a su padre Abraham: «¡Padre!» Respondió: «¿qué hay, hijo?» - «Aquí está el fuego y la leña, pero ¿dónde está el cordero para el holocausto?»	7 Isaac spoke to his father Abraham. 'Father?' he said. 'Yes, my son,' he replied. 'Look,' he said, 'hereare the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?'
8 Dijo Abraham: «Dios proveerá el cordero para el holocausto, hijo mío.» Y siguieron andando los dos juntos.	8 Abraham replied, 'My son, God himself wil provide the lamb for the burnt offering.' And the two ofthem went on together.
9 Llegados al lugar que le había dicho Dios, construyó allí Abraham el altar, y dispuso la leña; luego ató a Isaac, su hijo, y le puso sobre el ara, encima de la leña.	9 When they arrived at the place which God had indicated to him, Abraham built an altar there, andarranged the wood. Then he bound his son and put him on the altar on top of the wood.
10 Alargó Abraham la mano y tomó el cuchillo para inmolar a su hijo.	10 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to kill his son.
11 Entonces le llamó el Ángel de Yahveh desde los cielos diciendo: ¡Abraham, Abraham!» El dijo: «Heme aquí.»	11 But the angel of Yahweh cal ed to him from heaven. 'Abraham, Abraham!' he said. 'Here I am,' hereplied.
12 Dijo el Ángel: «No alargues tu mano contra el niño, ni le hagas nada, que ahora ya sé que tú eres temeroso de Dios, ya que no me has negado tu hijo, tu único.»	12 'Do not raise your hand against the boy,' the angel said. 'Do not harm him, for now I know you fearGod. You have not refused me your own beloved son.'
13 Levantó Abraham los ojos, miró y vio un carnero trabado en un zarzal por los cuernos. Fue Abraham, tomó el carnero, y lo sacrificó en holocausto en lugar de su hijo.	13 Then looking up, Abraham saw a ram caught by its horns in a bush. Abraham took the ram andoffered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
14 Abraham llamó a aquel lugar «Yahveh provee», de donde se dice hoy en día: «En el monte “Yahveh provee”»	14 Abraham cal ed this place 'Yahweh provides', and hence the saying today: 'On the mountain Yahwehprovides.'
15 El Ángel de Yahveh llamó a Abraham por segunda vez desde los cielos,	15 The angel of Yahweh cal ed Abraham a second time from heaven.
16 y dijo: «Por mí mismo juro, oráculo de Yahveh, que por haber hecho esto, por no haberme negado tu hijo, tu único,	16 'I swear by my own self, Yahweh declares, that because you have done this, because you have notrefused me your own beloved son,
17 yo te colmaré de bendiciones y acrecentaré muchísimo tu descendencia como las estrellas del cielo y como las arenas de la playa, y se adueñará tu descendencia de la puerta de sus enemigos.	17 I wil shower blessings on you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars of heaven andthe grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants wil gain possession of the gates of their enemies.
18 Por tu descendencia se bendecirán todas las naciones de la tierra, en pago de haber obedecido tú mi voz.»	18 Al nations on earth wil bless themselves by your descendants, because you have obeyed mycommand.'
19 Volvió Abraham al lado de sus mozos, y emprendieron la marcha juntos hacia Berseba. Y Abraham se quedó en Berseba.	19 Abraham went back to his servants, and together they set out for Beersheba, and Abraham settled inBeersheba.
20 Después de estas cosas, se anunció a Abraham: «También Milká ha dado hijos a tu hermano Najor:	20 It happened some time later that Abraham received word that Milcah, too, had now borne sons to hisbrother Nahor:
21 Us, su primogénito; Buz, hermano del anterior, y Quemel, padre de Aram,	21 Uz his first-born, Buz his brother, Kemuel father of Aram,
22 Késed, Jazó, Pildás, Yidlaf y Betuel.»	22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, Bethuel
23 (Betuel engendró a Rebeca.) Estos ocho le dio Milká a Najor, hermano de Abraham.	23 (and Bethuel was the father of Rebekah). These were the eight children Milcah gave Nahor,Abraham's brother.
24 Su concubina, llamada Reumá, también dio a luz a Tébaj, Gájam, Tájas, y Maaká.	24 He had a concubine named Reumah, and she too had children: Tebah, Gaham, Tahash andMaacah.
