1 Ma tu parla quelle cose che si convengono alla sana dottrina.	1 It is for you, then, to preach the behaviour which goes with healthy doctrine.
2 Li vecchi ammaestra, che siano temperati, casti, sani, e puri e fermi nella fede e in amore e in pazienza.	2 Older men should be reserved, dignified, moderate, sound in faith and love and perseverance.
3 Simigliantemente le vecchie stieno con l'abito santo, e non siano criminatrici, nè bevitrici di molto vino; anzi ammaestrino (l' altre) in bene.	3 Similarly, older women should behave as befits religious people, with no scandal-mongering and noaddiction to wine -- they must be the teachers of right behaviour
4 Le più giovani femine ammaestra, che amino i loro mariti e li loro figliuoli,	4 and show younger women how they should love their husbands and love their children,
5 e che sieno savie, caste e temperate, abiendo cura (e sollecitudine) delle magione loro, e che sieno benigne, e ai loro mariti soggette, acciò che non sia biastemata la parola di Dio.	5 how they must be sensible and chaste, and how to work in their homes, and be gentle, and obey theirhusbands, so that the message of God is not disgraced.
6 Simigliantemente conforta li giovani, che siano temperati.	6 Similarly, urge younger men to be moderate in everything that they do,
7 In tutte le cose dà buon esempio di te, in dottrina, in perseveranza e in gravità.	7 and you yourself set an example of good works, by sincerity and earnestness, when you are teaching,and by a message sound and irreproachable
8 La tua parola sia sana (e pura), sì che non si possa riprendere, e che l'avversario si vergogni, non abiendo alcuna cosa perchè possa dire male di noi.	8 so that any opponent will be at a loss, with no accusation to make against us.
9 Li servi ammaestra, che sieno soggetti a' loro signori, e che sieno piacevoli in tutte le cose, non contradicendo,	9 Slaves must be obedient to their masters in everything, and do what is wanted without argument;
10 non fraudando, anzi in tutte le cose dimostrando la buona fede, acciò che in tutte le cose ornino la dottrina del nostro Salvatore Dio.	10 and there must be no pilfering -- they must show complete honesty at al times, so that they are in everyway a credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.
11 Chè la grazia del nostro Signore Dio sì è apparita a tutte genti.	11 You see, God's grace has been revealed to save the whole human race;
12 La qual ammaestra noi, che noi iscacciamo la empietà e li desiderii temporali, e viviamo temperatamente e santamente in questo secolo,	12 it has taught us that we should give up everything contrary to true religion and all our worldly passions;we must be self-restrained and live upright and religious lives in this present world,
13 aspettando la beata speranza, e l'avvenimento della gloria del grande Dio, e del Salvatore nostro Iesù Cristo.	13 waiting in hope for the blessing which will come with the appearing of the glory of our great God andSaviour Christ Jesus.
14 Il quale diede sè medesimo, per ricomperare noi d'ogni iniquità, e apparecchiarsi a sè uno popolo piacevole e seguitatore in buone opere.	14 He offered himself for us in order to ransom us from al our faults and to purify a people to be his veryown and eager to do good.
15 Queste cose ammaestra e conforta, e riprendi con ogni signoria (e securità). Nullo t'abbia a dispetto.	15 This is what you must say, encouraging or arguing with ful authority; no one should despise you.
