| 1 In quello tempo, dice Iddio, sarò Signore a tutte le provincie d' Israel; ed egli saranno a me populo. | 1 "At that time, says the LORD, I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people." |
| 2 Questo dice Iddio: il populo il quale rimase dal coltello trovò grazia nel deserto; andarà [al]lo suo riposo [Israel]. | 2 Thus says the LORD: "The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness; when Israel sought for rest, |
| 3 Iddio apparì a me di lungi; in perpetua carità t'hoe amato; però, avendo misericordia, te ne trassi. | 3 the LORD appeared to him from afar. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. |
| 4 E un' altra volta edificherò ie; e tu, Israel vergine, sarai edificata; ancora sarai ornata dei tuoi timpani, (cioè de' tuoi tamburi, e de' tuoi stromenti), e uscirai fuori (ed entrerai) nel coro de' trastullanti. | 4 Again I will build you, and you shall be built, O virgin Israel! Again you shall adorn yourself with timbrels, and shall go forth in the dance of the merrymakers. |
| 5 Ancora pianterai le vigne ne' monti di Samaria; e pianteranno, e insino a tanto che il tempo vegna, non vendemmiaranno. | 5 Again you shall plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall enjoy the fruit. |
| 6 Però che sarà lo dì nel quale grideranno le guardie nel monte d' Efraim: levatevi suso, e saliamo in Sion al nostro Signore Iddio. | 6 For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hill country of Ephraim: 'Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the LORD our God.'" |
| 7 Però che questo dice Iddio: rallegratevi nella letizia di Iacob, e salite contra (tutto) lo capo delle genti; sonate, cantate e dite: salva, Iddio, lo populo tuo e lo rimanente d' Israel. | 7 For thus says the LORD: "Sing aloud with gladness for Jacob, and raise shouts for the chief of the nations; proclaim, give praise, and say, 'The LORD has saved his people, the remnant of Israel.' |
| 8 Ecco io li menerò della terra d' aquilone, e radunerolli dell' estremitadi della terra; intra quali saranno le compagnie [de' ciechi], zoppi, e pregne e parturienti insieme; grande compagnia di ritornanti qua. | 8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her who is in travail, together; a great company, they shall return here. |
| 9 Verranno con pianto, e con preghiere li rimenerò; e menerolli per torrenti delle acque nella via diritta, e non pigneranno in lei; però ch' io sono fatto padre a Israel, ed Efraim è mio primogenito. | 9 With weeping they shall come, and with consolations I will lead them back, I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble; for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my first-born. |
| 10 O genti, udite la mia parola, e annunziatela alle isole le quali sono di lungi, e dite: quelli che disperse Israel, lo radunerà e guarderallo (a me) come lo pastore la sua greggia. | 10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands afar off; say, 'He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.' |
| 11 E ricomperò Iddio Iacob, e liberollo delle mani più potenti. | 11 For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him. |
| 12 E verranno e loderanno nel monte di Sion; e abbonderanno sopra li beni di Dio e sopra lo grano e sopra lo vino e sopra l'olio e sopra le figliature delle pecore e delli armenti; e sarà la loro anima quasi uno [orto] inaffiato saziata, e non averanno più fame. | 12 They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion, and they shall be radiant over the goodness of the LORD, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall languish no more. |
| 13 Allora si rallegrarà la vergine nel coro, li giovani e li vecchi insieme; e convertirò lo pianto loro in allegrezza, e consolerolli dello loro dolore. | 13 Then shall the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow. |
| 14 E inebrierò le anime de' sacerdoti di grassezza; e lo mio popolo sarà ripieno di beni, [dice Iddio]. | 14 I will feast the soul of the priests with abundance, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, says the LORD." |
| 15 Questo dice Iddio: la voce è udita da alto di lamentazione e di pianto, [di] Rachel piagnente li suoi figliuoli; non si volle consolare sopra loro, però che non vi sono. | 15 Thus says the LORD: "A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are not." |
| 16 Questo dice Iddio: riposisi la tua voce dal pianto, e li tuoi occhi dal pianto; però che mercede è [al]la tua opera, dice Iddio; e ritorneranno della terra de' (tuoi) nimici. | 16 Thus says the LORD: "Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the LORD, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. |
| 17 E sarà speranza de' tuoi novissimi, dice Iddio; e i tuoi figliuoli ritorneranno ai suoi termini. | 17 There is hope for your future, says the LORD, and your children shall come back to their own country. |
| 18 Io udie Efraim transmigrante (cioè andante): castigasti me, e sono dirozzato, quasi come giovenco non domato; convertimi, e ritornerò, però che tu sei lo Signore mio Iddio. | 18 I have heard Ephraim bemoaning, 'Thou hast chastened me, and I was chastened, like an untrained calf; bring me back that I may be restored, for thou art the LORD my God. |
| 19 Poi che tu mi convertisti, io feci penitenza; e poi che tu mostrasti a me, percossi lo mio pettignone. Sono confuso e sono vergognato (più), però ch' io sostenni vituperio della mia giovinezza. | 19 For after I had turned away I repented; and after I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh; I was ashamed, and I was confounded, because I bore the disgrace of my youth.' |
| 20 Sia a me figliuolo onorevole Efraim, sia a me fanciullo delicato; poi che ho io parlato di lui, ancora mi ricorderò di lui. Però sono turbate le mie interiora sopra lui; e averò misericordia di lui, dice Iddio. | 20 Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he my darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD. |
| 21 Fa a te una spelonca, e poni amaritudine a te; dirizza lo tuo cuore in via diritta, nella quale tu andasti; ritorna, vergine Israel, ritorna a queste tue cittadi. | 21 "Set up waymarks for yourself, make yourself guideposts; consider well the highway, the road by which you went. Return, O virgin Israel, return to these your cities. |
| 22 O per che se dissoluta di ricchezza, o figliuola vaga? però che Iddio creò cosa nuova sopra la terra: LA FEMINA ATTORNIERÀ L'UOMO. | 22 How long will you waver, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing on the earth: a woman protects a man." |
| 23 Dice lo Signore delli esèrciti, Iddio d' Israel: ancora diranno questa parola nella terra di Giuda, e nelle sue cittadi, quando averò convertita la loro cattività benedicati Iddio, bellezza della giustizia, monte santo. | 23 Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Once more they shall use these words in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I restore their fortunes: 'The LORD bless you, O habitation of righteousness, O holy hill!' |
| 24 E abiteranno in quello Giuda, e tutte le sue cittadi insieme, e li lavoratori [e li] menanti la gregge. | 24 And Judah and all its cities shall dwell there together, and the farmers and those who wander with their flocks. |
| 25 Però che ho inebriata ogni anima siziente, e ogni anima famelica satollai; | 25 For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish." |
| 26 per ciò io mi sono resuscitato dal sonno, e vidi; lo mio sonno fue dolce a me. | 26 Thereupon I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me. |
| 27 Ecco li di vengono, dice Iddio; e seminerò alla casa d'Israel e alla casa di Giuda in seme di uomo e in seme di giumenti. | 27 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. |
| 28 E sì come io veggiai sopra loro per divellerli e per dispregiarli e per dispergerli; così veggierò sopra loro acciò ch' io li edifichi e ch' io li pianti, dice Iddio. | 28 And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring evil, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the LORD. |
| 29 In quello tempo non diranno più: li padri mangiarono l' uva acerba, e turborono li denti delli figliuoli. | 29 In those days they shall no longer say: 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' |
| 30 Ma ciascuno morrà nella sua iniquità; e ogni uomo il quale mangerà l' uva acerba, allegherà li suoi denti. | 30 But every one shall die for his own sin; each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. |
| 31 Ecco vengono li dì, dice Iddio; e pattuirò [col] la casa d' Israel e colla casa di Giuda (farò) patto nuovo; | 31 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, |
| 32 non secondo ch' io pattovii colli vostri padri, quando io pigliai la loro mano per menarli della terra d'Egitto; e fu patto, che lo fecieno tornare adietro, e io ho avuto la signoria sopra loro, dice Iddio. | 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant which they broke, though I was their husband, says the LORD. |
| 33 Ma questo sarà lo patto ch' io pattovirò con la casa d' Israel dopo quelli dì, dice Iddio; e darò la mia legge nelle sue interiora, e nello loro cuore scriverò quella; e sarò loro Iddio, ed egli saranno mio populo. | 33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. |
| 34 E non ammaestrerà più l'uomo lo suo prossimo e lo suo fratello, dicendo: ogni cosa m'è Iddio; tutti mi conosceranno dal piccolo insino al grande, dice Iddio; però ch' io sono appresso alla loro iniquitade, e non averò più memoria del peccato loro. | 34 And no longer shall each man teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." |
| 35 Questo dice Iddio, il quale dae il sole nello lume del dì, l'ordine della luna e delle stelle nel lume della notte; il quale turba lo mare, e suonano le sue onde: lo suo nome sì è lo Signore delli esèrciti. | 35 Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar--the LORD of hosts is his name: |
| 36 Se queste leggi verranno meno innanzi a me, dice Iddio, e allora verrà meno lo seme d' Israel, acciò non sia gente davanti a me tutti li giorni. | 36 "If this fixed order departs from before me, says the LORD, then shall the descendants of Israel cease from being a nation before me for ever." |
| 37 Queste cose dice lo Signore: se li cieli si potranno misurare di sopra, e investigare li (loro) fondamenti della terra di sotto; e caccerò da me tutto lo seme d' Israel per tutto quello che feciono, dice Iddio. | 37 Thus says the LORD: "If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth below can be explored, then I will cast off all the descendants of Israel for all that they have done, says the LORD." |
| 38 Ecco li dì vegnono, dice Iddio, e sarà edificata la città a Dio, della torre d' Ananeel insino alla porta del cantone. | 38 "Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when the city shall be rebuilt for the LORD from the tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. |
| 39 E uscirà oltre al nome della misura del suo cospetto sopra lo colle di Gareb; e attornierà Goata, | 39 And the measuring line shall go out farther, straight to the hill Gareb, and shall then turn to Goah. |
| 40 e tutta la valle de' corpi morti e della cenere, e tutta la universa contrada della morte, insino al torrente di Cedron e insino al cantone della porta de' cavalli d' oriente, lo santo di Dio; non si divellerà, e non si distruggerà più in perpetuo. | 40 The whole valley of the dead bodies and the ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be sacred to the LORD. It shall not be uprooted or overthrown any more for ever." |
