Ieremia 1

1 Le parole di Ieremia (profeta) figliuolo d' (uno lo quale ebbe nome) Elchia della compagnia de' sacerdoti, i quali furono in (una contrada la quale si chiama) Anatot della terra di Beniamin.	1 The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.
2 Come Iddio li parlò nel tempo di Iosia, figliuolo d' Amon, re (del popolo) di Giuda, nel tredecimo anno del suo reame.	2 The word of the Lord, which came to him in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign,
3 E fu fatto nel tempo di Ioachim, figliuolo che fu di Iosia, re di Giuda, insino alla transmigrazione di Ierusalem nel quinto mese di quello anno.	3 and which came to him in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, even until the completion of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, even until the transmigration of Jerusalem in the fifth month.
4 E allora mi parlò [il Signore], e dissemi così:	4 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
5 Innanzi ch' io ti formassi nel ventre della tua madre, io ti conobbi; e innanzi che tu nascessi, io ti santificai, e sì ti feci profeta tra le genti.	5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. And before you went forth from the womb, I sanctified you. And I made you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Ora risponde e dice così (quasi scusandosi a Dio, che non era sufficiente a tanto ufficio, dicendo): ah, ah, ah, (cioè a dire) o Signore mio! (riguarda e vedi ch' ) io non so parlare, però ch' io sono fanciullo.	6 And I said: “Alas, alas, alas, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am a boy.”
7 Allora Iddio mi disse: (o Ieremia) non dire: io (non so parlare però ch' io) sono fanciullo; chè dovunque io ti manderò, sarai ubbidiente ad andare; e tutte quelle cose ch' io ti comanderò, tu parlerai.	7 And the Lord said to me: “Do not choose to say, ‘I am a boy.’ For you shall go forth to everyone to whom I will send you. And you shall speak all that I will command you.
8 (Ora lo conforta Iddio e dice così:) non temere dalla faccia loro; però ch' io sarò tuo protettore e libererotti, dice Iddio.	8 You should not be afraid before their face. For I am with you, so that I may deliver you,” says the Lord.
9 E allora istese Iddio la sua mano, e toccommi la bocca, e disse: ecco io t'ho date le mie parole nella bocca tua.	9 And the Lord put forth his hand, and he touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have placed my words in your mouth.
10 E hotti posto e ordinato sopra le genti e sopra li reami, acciò che tu possi cavare e distruggere e dissipare ed edificare e piantare.	10 Behold, today I have appointed you over nations and over kingdoms, so that you may root up, and pull down, and destroy, and scatter, and so that you may build and plant.”
11 E allora Iddio mi parlò, e disse: o Ieremia, che vedi? E io dissi: io veggio una verga vigilante.	11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “I see a staff, keeping watch.”
12 E Iddio disse: bene vedesti; però ch' io vigilerò sopra lo detto mio.	12 And the Lord said to me: “You have seen well. For I will keep watch over my word, so that I may accomplish it.”
13 E favellò la seconda volta, e sì mi parlò Iddio, e disse: (o Ieremia), che vedi? E io dissi: io veggio una pentola accesa, e la sua faccia da aquilone.	13 And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a cooking pot upon a fire, and its face is before the face of the north.”
14 E Iddio disse a me: lo male si manifestarà e verrà dalla parte d' aquilone sopra tutti quelli che - àbitano in terra.	14 And the Lord said to me: “From the north, an evil will spread over all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 Però ch' io (chiamerò e) radunerò tutti li parentadi de' reami d'acquilone, così mi disse lo Signore Iddio; e ciascuno verrà e porrà la sua sedia nello introito delle porte di Ierusalem, e sopra tutte le mura sue nel circuito, e sopra tutte le cittadi di Giuda.	15 For behold, I will call together all the close associates of the kingdoms of the north, says the Lord. And they will arrive, and each one of them will place his throne at the entrance to the gates of Jerusalem, and over all its surrounding walls, and over all the cities of Judah.
16 E parlerò (e dirò) tutti li miei giudicii con loro sopra tutte le loro malizie; però che m' hanno lasciato (e sonsi partiti da me) e hanno fatto sacrificii alli iddi strani e hanno adorato quello che hanno fatto colle loro proprie mani.	16 And I will speak my judgments with them, concerning all the wickedness of those who have forsaken me, and who have offered libations to strange gods, and who have adored the work of their own hands.
17 E però voglio che tu (t' apparecchi e) t' accingi li tuoi lombi; e lèvati suso, e parlerai a loro ciò ch' io ti comanderò. E non temere di loro minaccie nè di loro persone; e io farò che tu non temerai lo loro volto (nè minaccie).	17 Therefore, you should gird your waist, and rise up, and speak to them everything that I instruct you. You should not have dread before their face. For I will cause you to be unafraid of their countenance.
18 E io in questo dì t'ho posto come una cittade armata e come colonna di ferro e come muro di rame sopra tutta la terra a' principi e sacerdoti e tutto il popolo di Giuda e della terra.	18 For certainly, this day, I have made you like a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and a brass wall, over all the land, to the kings of Judah, to its leaders, and to the priests, and to the people of the land.
19 E combatteranno incontro a te, e non ti potranno soperchiare; però ch' io sono teco, disse Iddio, acciò ch' io ti liberi da loro.	19 And they will make war against you, but they will not prevail. For I am with you, says the Lord, so that I may free you.”
