1 Giosuè era vecchio e avanzato in età, e il Signore gli disse: « Tu sei di ventato vecchio e attempato, ed è rima sta molta terra non ancor divisa a sorte:	1 When Joshua was old and advanced in years, the LORD said to him: "Though now you are old and advanced in years, a very large part of the land still remains to be conquered.
2 tutta la Galilea, il paese dei Filistei, tutto quello di Gessuri,	2 This additional land includes all Geshur and all the districts of the Philistines
3 dal torbido fiume che bagna l'Egitto sino ai confini di Accaron, verso settentrione; la terra di Canaan che è divisa tra i cinque re Filistei, quel di Gaza, quel di Azoto, quel di Ascalon, quel di Get, e quello di Accaron;	3 (from the stream adjoining Egypt to the boundary of Ekron in the north is reckoned Canaanite territory, though held by the five lords of the Philistines in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron); also where the Avvim are in the south;
4 il mezzodì, ove sono gli Evei; tutta la terra di Canaan e Maara dei Sidoni, sino ad Afeca e ai confini degli Amorrei	4 all the land of the Canaanites from Mearah of the Sidonians to Aphek, and the boundaries of the Amorites;
5 e ai paesi loro vicini; la contrada del Libano verso levante, da Baalgad sotto il monte Ermon fino all'entrata di Emal;	5 and the Gebalite territory; and all the Lebanon on the east, from Baal-gad at the foot of Mount Hermon to Labo in the land of Hamath.

Ci penserò io a sterminarli dal cospetto dei figli d'Israele; ma intanto deve entrare tutto nella parte dell'eredità d'Israele, come ti ho comandato.	6 At the advance of the Israelites I will drive out all the Sidonian inhabitants of the mountain regions between Lebanon and Misrephoth-maim; at least include these areas in the division of the Israelite heritage, just as I have commanded you.
7 Or dunque distribuisca la terra da possedersi dalle nove tribù e dalla mezza tribù di Manasse,	7 Now, therefore, apportion among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh the land which is to be their heritage."
8 che l'altra mezza tribù e Ruben e Gad presero già possesso della terra che diede loro Mosè, servo del Signore, di là dal Giordano, ad oriente,	8 Now the other half of the tribe of Manasseh as well as the Reubenites and Gadites, had received their heritage which Moses, the servant of the LORD, had given them east of the Jordan:
9 da Aroer, situata sulla riva del torrente Arnon, la metà della valle e tutta la campagna di Medaba, sino a Dibon,	9 from Aroer on the bank of the Wadi Arnon and the city in the wadi itself, through the tableland of Medeba and Dibon,
10 e tutte le città di Sehon re degli Amorrei, che regnò in sebon, sino ai confini dei figli di Ammon,	10 with the rest of the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the boundary of the Ammonites;
11 e Galaad e la frontiera di Gessuri e di bacati, e tutto il monte Ermon, e tutto il Basan fino a Saleca,	11 also Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah,
12 tutto il regno di Og in Basan, il quale regnò in Astarot e in Drai e fu l'ultimo dei Refaim. Mosè percosse e distrusse costoro;	12 the entire kingdom in Bashan of Og, a survivor of the Rephaim, who reigned at Ashtaroth and Edrei. Though Moses conquered and occupied these territories,
13 ma i figli d'Israele non vollero disperdere quei di Gessuri e di Macati, i quali dimorano in mezzo ad Israele fino al presente.	13 the Israelites did not dislodge the Geshurites and Maacathites, so that Geshur and Maacath survive in the midst of Israel to this day.
14 In quanto alla tribù di Levi, Mosè non le diede al cun possesso; perchè i sacrifizi e le vittime del Signore Dio d'Israele sono la sua eredità, come le ha detto il Signore.	14 However, to the tribe of Levi Moses assigned no heritage since, as the LORD had promised them, the LORD, the God of Israel, is their heritage.
15 Mosè diede la sua porzione alla tribù dei figli di Ruben, secondo le loro famiglie.	15 What Moses gave to the Reubenite clans:
16 I loro confini furono da Aroer, si tuata sulla riva del torrente Arnon, il mezzo della valle dello stesso torrente, tutta la pianura che va fino a Medaba,	16 Their territory reached from Aroer, on the bank of the Wadi Arnon, and the city in the wadi itself, through the tableland about Medeba,
17 Esebon con tutti i suoi villaggi della pianura, Dibon, Bamotbaal, la città di Baalmaon,	17 to include Heshbon and all its towns which are on the tableland, Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baal-meon,
18 Gassa, Cedimot, Mefaat,	18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19 Cariataim, Sabama, Saratasar nel monte ella valle,	19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar on the knoll within the valley,
20 Betfogor, Asedot, Fasga, Betiesimot;	20 Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth-jeshimoth,
21 tutte le città della pianura; tutti i regni di Sehon re degli Amorrei, che regnò in Esebon e da Mosè fu percosso coi principi di Madian, Evi, Recem, Sur, Hur, Rebe, capitani di Sehon, abitanti di quel paese.	21 and the other cities of the tableland and, generally, of the kingdom of Sihon. This Amorite king, who reigned in Heshbon, Moses had killed, with his vassals, the princes of Midian, who were settled in the land: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba;
22 I figli d'Israele fecero morire di spada con tuttu gli altri uccisi, anche l'indovino Balaari figlio di Beor.	22 and among their slain followers the Israelites put to the sword also the soothsayer Balaam, son of Beor.
23 Il Giordano fu il confine dei figli di Ruben. Queste sono le città e i villaggi dati in possesso ai Rubeniti, secondo le loro famiglie.	23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. These cities and their villages were the heritage of the clans of the Reubenites.
24 Mosè diede anche alla tribù di Gad e ai di lei figli un territorio di cui ecco le parti:	24 What Moses gave to the Gadite clans:
25 Iaser, tutte le città di Galaad, la metà del paese dei figli d'Ammon, sino ad Aroer che è di faccia a Rabba;	25 Their territory included Jazer, all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites as far as Aroer, toward Rabbah (that is,
26 da Esebon sino a Ramot, Masfe, Betonim; da Manaim sino ai confini di Da bir;	26 from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the boundary of Lodebar);

28 Ecco il territorio, le città, i villaggi dei figli di Gad, secondo le loro famiglie.	28 These cities and their villages were the heritage of the clans of the Gadites.
29 Diede un territorio anche alla mezza tribù di Manasse e ai figli di lei secondo ie loro famiglie;	29 What Moses gave to the clans of the half-tribe of Manasseh:
30 eccone i confini: da Manaim, tutto Basan e tutti i regni di Og re di Basan, tutti i villaggi di Iair nel Basan, sessanta città;	30 Their territory included Mahanaim, all of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, and all the villages of Jair, which are sixty cities in Bashan.
31 da metà di Galaad, Astarot, ed Edrai, città del regno di Og nel Basan, furono dei figli di Machir figlio di Manasse, toccarono alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo le loro famiglie.	31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth and Edrei, once the royal cities of Og in Bashan, fell to the descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, for half the clans descended from Machir.
32 Mosè divise questi territori nelle pianure di Moab, oltre il Giordano, di faccia a Gerico, ad oriente.	32 These are the portions which Moses gave when he was in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.
33 Ma alla tribù di Levi non diede alcun possesso; perchè il Signore Dio d'Israele è egli stesso il suo possesso, come le disse.	33 However, Moses gave no heritage to the tribe of Levi, since the LORD himself, the God of Israel, is their heritage, as he promised.
