1 הֹוי עִיר דָּמִים כֻּלָּהּ כַּחַשׁ פֶּרֶק מְלֵאָה לֹא יָמִישׁ טָרֶף | 1 Disaster to the city of blood, packed throughout with lies, stuffed with booty, where plundering has noend! |
2 קֹול שֹׁוט וְקֹול רַעַשׁ אֹופָן וְסוּס דֹּהֵר וּמֶרְכָּבָה מְרַקֵּדָה | 2 The crack of the whip! The rumble of wheels! Gal oping horse, jolting chariot, |
3 פָּרָשׁ מַעֲלֶה וְלַהַב חֶרֶב וּבְרַק חֲנִית וְרֹב חָלָל וְכֹבֶד פָּגֶר וְאֵין קֵצֶה לַגְּוִיָּה [יִכְשְׁלוּ כ] (וְכָשְׁלוּ ק) בִּגְוִיָּתָם | 3 charging cavalry, flashing swords, gleaming spears, a mass of wounded, hosts of dead, countlesscorpses; they stumble over corpses- |
4 מֵרֹב זְנוּנֵי זֹונָה טֹובַת חֵן בַּעֲלַת כְּשָׁפִים הַמֹּכֶרֶת גֹּויִם בִּזְנוּנֶיהָ וּמִשְׁפָּחֹות בִּכְשָׁפֶיהָ | 4 because of the countless whorings of the harlot, the graceful beauty, the cunning witch, who enslavednations by her harlotries and tribes by her spells. |
5 הִנְנִי אֵלַיִךְ נְאֻם יְהוָה צְבָאֹות וְגִלֵּיתִי שׁוּלַיִךְ עַל־פָּנָיִךְ וְהַרְאֵיתִי גֹויִם מַעְרֵךְ וּמַמְלָכֹות קְלֹונֵךְ | 5 Look, I am against you!- declares Yahweh Sabaoth- I shal lift your skirts as high as your face and showyour nakedness to the nations, your shame to the kingdoms. |
6 וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּי עָלַיִךְ שִׁקֻּצִים וְנִבַּלְתִּיךְ וְשַׂמְתִּיךְ כְּרֹאִי | 6 I shal pelt you with filth, I shal shame you and put you in the pil ory. |
7 וְהָיָה כָל־רֹאַיִךְ יִדֹּוד מִמֵּךְ וְאָמַר שָׁדְּדָה נִינְוֵה מִי יָנוּד לָהּ מֵאַיִן אֲבַקֵּשׁ מְנַחֲמִים לָךְ | 7 Then al who look at you wil shrink from you and say, 'Nineveh has been ruined!' Who wil mourn forher? Where would I find people to comfort you? |
8 הֲתֵיטְבִי מִנֹּא אָמֹון הַיֹּשְׁבָה בַּיְאֹרִים מַיִם סָבִיב לָהּ אֲשֶׁר־חֵיל יָם מִיָּם חֹומָתָהּ | 8 Are you better off than No-Amon situated among rivers, her defences the seas, her rampart the waters? |
9 כּוּשׁ עָצְמָה וּמִצְרַיִם וְאֵין קֵצֶה פּוּט וְלוּבִים הָיוּ בְּעֶזְרָתֵךְ | 9 In Ethiopia and Egypt lay her strength, and it was boundless; Put and the Libyans served in her army. |
10 גַּם־הִיא לַגֹּלָה הָלְכָה בַשֶּׁבִי גַּם עֹלָלֶיהָ יְרֻטְּשׁוּ בְּרֹאשׁ כָּל־חוּצֹות וְעַל־נִכְבַּדֶּיהָ יַדּוּ גֹורָל וְכָל־גְּדֹולֶיהָ רֻתְּקוּ בַזִּקִּים | 10 But she too went into exile, into captivity; her little ones too were dashed to pieces at every crossroad;lots were drawn for her nobles, al her great men were put in chains. |
11 גַּם־אַתְּ תִּשְׁכְּרִי תְּהִי נַעֲלָמָה גַּם־אַתְּ תְּבַקְשִׁי מָעֹוז מֵאֹויֵב | 11 You too wil become drunk, you wil go into hiding; you too will have to search for a refuge from theenemy. |
12 כָּל־מִבְצָרַיִךְ תְּאֵנִים עִם־בִּכּוּרִים אִם־יִנֹּועוּ וְנָפְלוּ עַל־פִּי אֹוכֵל | 12 Your fortifications are all fig trees, with early ripening figs: as soon as they are shaken, they fall intothe mouth of the eater. |
13 הִנֵּה עַמֵּךְ נָשִׁים בְּקִרְבֵּךְ לְאֹיְבַיִךְ פָּתֹוחַ נִפְתְּחוּ שַׁעֲרֵי אַרְצֵךְ אָכְלָה אֵשׁ בְּרִיחָיִך | 13 Look at your people: you are a nation of women! The gates of your country gape open to yourenemies; fire has devoured their bars! |
14 מֵי מָצֹור שַׁאֲבִי־לָךְ חַזְּקִי מִבְצָרָיִךְ בֹּאִי בַטִּיט וְרִמְסִי בַחֹמֶר הַחֲזִיקִי מַלְבֵּן | 14 Draw yourselves water for the siege, strengthen your fortifications! Into the mud with you, puddle theclay, repair the brick-kiln! |
15 ם תֹּאכְלֵךְ אֵשׁ תַּכְרִיתֵךְ חֶרֶב תֹּאכְלֵךְ כַּיָּלֶק הִתְכַּבֵּד כַּיֶּלֶק הִתְכַּבְּדִי כָּאַרְבֶּה | 15 There the fire wil burn you up, the sword wil cut you down. Make yourselves as numerous as locusts,make yourselves as numerous as the hoppers, |
16 הִרְבֵּית רֹכְלַיִךְ מִכֹּוכְבֵי הַשָּׁמָיִם יֶלֶק פָּשַׁט וַיָּעֹף | 16 let your commercial agents outnumber the stars of heaven, |
17 מִנְּזָרַיִךְ כָּאַרְבֶּה וְטַפְסְרַיִךְ כְּגֹוב גֹּבָי הַחֹונִים בַּגְּדֵרֹות בְּיֹום קָרָה שֶׁמֶשׁ זָרְחָה וְנֹודַד וְלֹא־נֹודַע מְקֹומֹו אַיָּם | 17 your garrisons, like locusts, and your marshals, like swarms of hoppers! They settle on the wal s whenthe day is cold. The sun appears, the locusts spread their wings, they fly away,away they fly, no one knowswhere. Alas, |
18 נָמוּ רֹעֶיךָ מֶלֶךְ אַשּׁוּר יִשְׁכְּנוּ אַדִּירֶיךָ נָפֹשׁוּ עַמְּךָ עַל־הֶהָרִים וְאֵין מְקַבֵּץ | 18 your shepherds are asleep, king of Assyria, your bravest men slumber; your people are scattered onthe mountains with no one to gather them. |
19 אֵין־כֵּהָה לְשִׁבְרֶךָ נַחְלָה מַכָּתֶךָ כֹּל ׀ שֹׁמְעֵי שִׁמְעֲךָ תָּקְעוּ כַף עָלֶיךָ כִּי עַל־מִי לֹא־עָבְרָה רָעָתְךָ תָּמִיד | 19 There is no remedy for your wound, your injury is past healing. All who hear the news of you clap theirhands at your downfal . For who has not felt your unrelenting cruelty? |
20 וַיָּבֹאוּ הַבָּיְתָה וַיָּשָׁב הֲמוֹן הָעָם לְהִתְאַסֵּף עַד כִּי־לֹא יָכְלוּ אַף לֶאֱכָל־לָחֶם | |
21 וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ קְרוֹבָיו וַיֵּצְאוּ לְהַחֲזִיק בּוֹ כִּי אָמְרוּ יָצָא מִדַּעְתּוֹ | |
22 וְהַסּוֹפְרִים אֲשֶׁר יָרְדוּ מִירוּשָׁלַיִם אָמְרוּ כִּי בַעַל־זְבוּב נִכְנַס בּוֹ וְעַל־יְדֵי שַׂר־הַשֵּׁדִים הוּא מְגָרֵשׁ אֶת־הַשֵּׁדִים | |
23 וַיִּקְרָא אוֹתָם אֵלָיו וַיְדַבֵּר לָהֶם בִּמְשָׁלִים לֵאמֹר אֵיךְ יוּכַל הַשָּׂטָן לְגָרֵשׁ הַשָּׂטָן | |
24 וְאִם־נֶחְלְקָה מַמְלָכָה עַל־עַצְמָהּ לֹא־תוּכַל לַעֲמֹד הַמַּמְלָכָה הַהִיא | |
25 וּבַיִת אִם־נֶחֱלַק עַל־עַצְמוֹ לֹא־יוּכַל לַעֲמֹד הַבַּיִת הַהוּא | |
26 וְאִם־הַשָּׂטָן יִתְקוֹמֵם אֶל־עַצְמוֹ וְנֶחֱלַק לֹא־יוּכַל לַעֲמֹד כִּי־בָא קִצּוֹ | |
27 אֵין אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יָכֹל לָבוֹא לְבֵית הַגִּבּוֹר וְלִגְזֹל אֶת־כֵּלָיו אִם־לֹא יֶאֱסֹר בָּרִאשׁוֹנָה אֶת־הַגִּבּוֹר וְאַחַר יִשְׁסֶה אֶת־בֵּיתוֹ | |
28 אָמֵן אֹמֵר אֲנִי לָכֶם כִּי כָל־הַחֲטָאִים יִסָּלְחוּ לִבְנֵי אָדָם וְכָל־הַגִּדּוּפִים אֲשֶׁר יְגַדֵּפוּ | |
29 אַךְ הַמְגַדֵּף אֶת־רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ אֵין־לוֹ סְלִיחָה לְעוֹלָם כִּי־יֶאְשָׁם בַּעֲוֺנוֹ לָנֶצַח | |
30 כִּי־הֵמָּה אָמְרוּ רוּחַ טֻמְאָה בּוֹ | |
31 וַיָּבֹאוּ אִמּוֹ וְאֶחָיו וַיַּעַמְדוּ מִחוּץ לַבָּיִת וַיִּשְׁלְחוּ אֵלָיו לִקְרֹא לוֹ | |
32 וַהֲמוֹן הָעָם יָשְׁבוּ סְבִיבָיו וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו הִנֵּה אִמְּךָ וְאַחֶיךָ בַּחוּץ מְבַקְשִׁים אוֹתָךְ | |
33 וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם מִי הֵם אִמִּי וְאֶחָי | |
34 וַיַּבֵּט סָבִיב אֶל־הַיּשְׁבִים סְבִיבָיו וַיֹּאמַר הִנֵּה אִמִּי וְאֶחָי | |
35 כִּי כָּל־אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה רְצוֹן הָאֱלֹהִים הוּא אָחִי וַאֲחוֹתִי וְאִמִּי | |
