1 חַטַּאת יְהוּדָה כְּתוּבָה בְּעֵט בַּרְזֶל בְּצִפֹּרֶן שָׁמִיר חֲרוּשָׁה עַל־לוּחַ לִבָּם וּלְקַרְנֹות מִזְבְּחֹותֵיכֶם	1 'The sin of Judah is written with an iron pen, engraved with a diamond point on the tablet of the heartand on the horns of their altars,
2 כִּזְכֹּר בְּנֵיהֶם מִזְבְּחֹותָם וַאֲשֵׁרֵיהֶם עַל־עֵץ רַעֲנָן עַל גְּבָעֹות הַגְּבֹהֹות	2 while their children remember their altars and their sacred pole beside the green trees, on the lofty hil s.
3 הֲרָרִי בַּשָּׂדֶה חֵילְךָ כָל־אֹוצְרֹותֶיךָ לָבַז אֶתֵּן בָּמֹתֶיךָ בְּחַטָּאת בְּכָל־גְּבוּלֶיךָ	3 My mountain on the plain, your wealth and all your treasures I shal hand over to be plundered,because of the sin of your high places throughout your territory.
4 וְשָׁמַטְתָּה וּבְךָ מִנַּחֲלָתְךָ אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לָךְ וְהַעֲבַדְתִּיךָ אֶת־אֹיְבֶיךָ בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדָעְתָּ כִּי־אֵשׁ קְדַחְתֶּם בְּאַפִּי עַד־עֹולָם תּוּקָד׃ ס	4 You wil have to relinquish your heritage which I gave you; I wil enslave you to your enemies in acountry which you do not know, for my fiery anger kindled by you wil burn for ever.'
5 כֹּה ׀ אָמַר יְהוָה אָרוּר הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר יִבְטַח בָּאָדָם וְשָׂם בָּשָׂר זְרֹעֹו וּמִן־יְהוָה יָסוּר לִבֹּו	5 Yahweh says this, 'Accursed be anyone who trusts in human beings, who relies on human strengthand whose heart turns from Yahweh.
6 וְהָיָה כְּעַרְעָר בָּעֲרָבָה וְלֹא יִרְאֶה כִּי־יָבֹוא טֹוב וְשָׁכַן חֲרֵרִים בַּמִּדְבָּר אֶרֶץ מְלֵחָה וְלֹא תֵשֵׁב׃ ס	6 Such a person is like scrub in the wastelands: when good comes, it does not affect him since he livesin the parched places of the desert, uninhabited, salt land.
7 בָּרוּךְ הַגֶּבֶר אֲשֶׁר יִבְטַח בַּיהוָה וְהָיָה יְהוָה מִבְטַחֹו	7 'Blessed is anyone who trusts in Yahweh, with Yahweh to rely on.
8 וְהָיָה כְּעֵץ ׀ שָׁתוּל עַל־מַיִם וְעַל־יוּבַל יְשַׁלַּח שָׁרָשָׁיו וְלֹא [יִרָא כ] (יִרְאֶה ק) כִּי־יָבֹא חֹם וְהָיָה עָלֵהוּ רַעֲנָן וּבִשְׁנַת בַּצֹּרֶת לֹא יִדְאָג וְלֹא יָמִישׁ מֵעֲשֹׂות פֶּרִי	8 Such a person is like a tree by the waterside that thrusts its roots to the stream: when the heat comes ithas nothing to fear, its foliage stays green; untroubled in a year of drought, it never stops bearing fruit.
9 עָקֹב הַלֵּב מִכֹּל וְאָנֻשׁ הוּא מִי יֵדָעֶנּוּ	9 'The heart is more devious than any other thing, and is depraved; who can pierce its secrets?
10 אֲנִי יְהוָה חֹקֵר לֵב בֹּחֵן כְּלָיֹות וְלָתֵת לְאִישׁ [כְּדַרְכֹּו כ] (כִּדְרָכָיו ק) כִּפְרִי מַעֲלָלָיו׃ ס	10 I, Yahweh, search the heart, test the motives, to give each person what his conduct and his actionsdeserve.
11 קֹרֵא דָגַר וְלֹא יָלָד עֹשֶׂה עֹשֶׁר וְלֹא בְמִשְׁפָּט בַּחֲצִי [יֹמֹו כ] (יָמָיו ק) יַעַזְבֶנּוּ וּבְאַחֲרִיתֹו יִהְיֶה נָבָל	11 'The partridge will hatch eggs it has not laid. No different is the person who gets riches unjustly: hisdays half done, they wil desert him and he prove a fool after al .'
12 כִּסֵּא כָבֹוד מָרֹום מֵרִאשֹׁון מְקֹום מִקְדָּשֵׁנוּ	12 A glorious throne, sublime from the beginning, such is our Holy Place.
13 מִקְוֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל יְהוָה כָּל־עֹזְבֶיךָ יֵבֹשׁוּ [יִסֹורַי כ] (וְסוּרַי ק) בָּאָרֶץ יִכָּתֵבוּ כִּי עָזְבוּ מְקֹור מַיִם־חַיִּים אֶת־יְהוָה׃ ס	13 Yahweh, hope of Israel, al who abandon you wil be put to shame, those who turn from you wil beregistered in the underworld, since they have abandoned Yahweh, the fountain of living water.
14 רְפָאֵנִי יְהוָה וְאֵרָפֵא הֹושִׁיעֵנִי וְאִוָּשֵׁעָה כִּי תְהִלָּתִי אָתָּה	14 Heal me, Yahweh, and I shall be healed, save me, and I shal be saved, for you are my praise.
15 הִנֵּה־הֵמָּה אֹמְרִים אֵלָי אַיֵּה דְבַר־יְהוָה יָבֹוא נָא	15 Look, they keep saying to me, 'Where is Yahweh's word? Let it come true then!'
16 וַאֲנִי לֹא־אַצְתִּי ׀ מֵרֹעֶה אַחֲרֶיךָ וְיֹום אָנוּשׁ לֹא הִתְאַוֵּיתִי אַתָּה יָדָעְתָּ מֹוצָא שְׂפָתַי נֹכַח פָּנֶיךָ הָיָה	16 Yet I have never urged you to send disaster, I never desired the fatal day, this you know; what camefrom my lips was not concealed from you.
17 אַל־תִּהְיֵה־לִי לִמְחִתָּה מַחֲסִי־אַתָּה בְּיֹום רָעָה	17 Do not be a terror to me, you, my refuge in time of disaster.
18 יֵבֹשׁוּ רֹדְפַי וְאַל־אֵבֹשָׁה אָנִי יֵחַתּוּ הֵמָּה וְאַל־אֵחַתָּה אָנִי הָבִיא עֲלֵיהֶם יֹום רָעָה וּמִשְׁנֶה שִׁבָּרֹון שָׁבְרֵם׃ ס	18 Let my persecutors be confounded, not me, let them, not me, be terrified. On them bring the day ofdisaster, destroy them, destroy them twice over!
19 כֹּה־אָמַר יְהוָה אֵלַי הָלֹךְ וְעָמַדְתָּ בְּשַׁעַר בְּנֵי־ [עָם כ] (הָעָם ק) אֲשֶׁר יָבֹאוּ בֹו מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וַאֲשֶׁר יֵצְאוּ בֹו וּבְכֹל שַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם	19 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and stand at the Gate of the Sons of the People by which the kings ofJudah go in and out -- and at al the gates of Jerusalem.
20 וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם שִׁמְעוּ דְבַר־יְהוָה מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וְכָל־יְהוּדָה וְכֹל יֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם הַבָּאִים בַּשְּׁעָרִים הָאֵלֶּה׃ ס	20 Say to them, "Listen to the word of Yahweh, you kings of Judah, al you people of Judah too, and alyou inhabitants of Jerusalem who pass through the gates.
21 כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה הִשָּׁמְרוּ בְּנַפְשֹׁותֵיכֶם וְאַל־תִּשְׂאוּ מַשָּׂא בְּיֹום הַשַּׁבָּת וַהֲבֵאתֶם בְּשַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם	21 Yahweh says this: As you value your lives, on no account carry a burden on the Sabbath day or bringit in through the gates of Jerusalem.
22 וְלֹא־תֹוצִיאוּ מַשָּׂא מִבָּתֵּיכֶם בְּיֹום הַשַּׁבָּת וְכָל־מְלָאכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ וְקִדַּשְׁתֶּם אֶת־יֹום הַשַּׁבָּת כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִי אֶת־אֲבֹותֵיכֶם	22 Bring no burden out of your houses on the Sabbath day, and do no work. Keep the Sabbath day holy,as I ordered your ancestors.
23 וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ וְלֹא הִטּוּ אֶת־אָזְנָם וַיַּקְשׁוּ אֶת־עָרְפָּם לְבִלְתִּי [שֹׁומֵעַ כ] (שְׁמֹועַ ק) וּלְבִלְתִּי קַחַת מוּסָר	23 They would not hear, would not pay attention; they deliberately refused to listen or accept instruction.
24 וְהָיָה אִם־שָׁמֹעַ תִּשְׁמְעוּן אֵלַי נְאֻם־יְהוָה לְבִלְתִּי ׀ הָבִיא מַשָּׂא בְּשַׁעֲרֵי הָעִיר הַזֹּאת בְּיֹום הַשַּׁבָּת וּלְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת־יֹום הַשַּׁבָּת לְבִלְתִּי עֲשֹׂות־ [בֹּה כ] (בֹּו ק) כָּל־מְלָאכָה	24 But if you listen careful y to me, Yahweh declares, and bring no burden in through the gates of this cityon the Sabbath day, if you keep the Sabbath holy and do no work on that day,
25 וּבָאוּ בְשַׁעֲרֵי הָעִיר הַזֹּאת מְלָכִים ׀ וְשָׂרִים יֹשְׁבִים עַל־כִּסֵּא דָוִד רֹכְבִים ׀ בָּרֶכֶב וּבַסּוּסִים הֵמָּה וְשָׂרֵיהֶם אִישׁ יְהוּדָה וְיֹשְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִָם וְיָשְׁבָה הָעִיר־הַזֹּאת לְעֹולָם	25 then, through the gates of this city, kings and princes occupying the throne of David wil continue tomake their entry, riding in chariots or on horseback, they, their chief men, the people of Judah and theinhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city wil be inhabited for ever.
26 וּבָאוּ מֵעָרֵי־יְהוּדָה וּמִסְּבִיבֹות יְרוּשָׁלִַם וּמֵאֶרֶץ בִּנְיָמִן וּמִן־הַשְּׁפֵלָה וּמִן־הָהָר וּמִן־הַנֶּגֶב מְבִאִים עֹולָה וְזֶבַח וּמִנְחָה וּלְבֹונָה וּמְבִאֵי תֹודָה בֵּית יְהוָה	26 They wil come from the towns of Judah, from the districts round Jerusalem, from the territory ofBenjamin, from the lowlands, from the highlands, from the Negeb, to offer burnt offering and sacrifice, and cerealoffering and incense, to offer thanksgiving sacrifices in the Temple of Yahweh.
27 וְאִם־לֹא תִשְׁמְעוּ אֵלַי לְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת־יֹום הַשַּׁבָּת וּלְבִלְתִּי ׀ שְׂאֵת מַשָּׂא וּבֹא בְּשַׁעֲרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם בְּיֹום הַשַּׁבָּת וְהִצַּתִּי אֵשׁ בִּשְׁעָרֶיהָ וְאָכְלָה אַרְמְנֹות יְרוּשָׁלִַם וְלֹא תִכְבֶּה׃ פ	27 But if you do not listen to me to keep the Sabbath day holy, and to refrain from entering the gates ofJerusalem with burdens on the Sabbath day, then I shal set fire to its gates; fire wil devour the palaces ofJerusalem and not be quenched." '
