1 וְאֵלֶּה ׀ בְּנֵי הַמְּדִינָה הָעֹלִים מִשְּׁבִי הַגֹּולָה אֲשֶׁר הֶגְלָה [נְבוּכַדְנֶצֹּור כ] (נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר ק) מֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶל לְבָבֶל וַיָּשׁוּבוּ לִירוּשָׁלִַם וִיהוּדָה אִישׁ לְעִירֹו	1 These were the people of the province who returned from the captivity of the Exile, those whomNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, each tohis own town.
2 אֲשֶׁר־בָּאוּ עִם־זְרֻבָּבֶל יֵשׁוּעַ נְחֶמְיָה שְׂרָיָה רְעֵלָיָה מָרְדֳּכַי בִּלְשָׁן מִסְפָּר בִּגְוַי רְחוּם בַּעֲנָה מִסְפַּר אַנְשֵׁי עַם יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ ס	2 They were the ones who arrived with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Nahamani,Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum and Baanah. The number of the men of the people of the country ofIsrael:
3 בְּנֵי פַרְעֹשׁ אַלְפַּיִם מֵאָה שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	3 sons of Parosh, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two;
4 בְּנֵי שְׁפַטְיָה שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	4 sons of Shephatiah, three hundred and seventy-two;
5 בְּנֵי אָרַח שְׁבַע מֵאֹות חֲמִשָּׁה וְשִׁבְעִים׃ ס	5 sons of Arah, seven hundred and seventy-five;
6 בְּנֵי־פַחַת מֹואָב לִבְנֵי יֵשׁוּעַ יֹואָב אַלְפַּיִם שְׁמֹנֶה מֵאֹות וּשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר׃ ס	6 sons of Pahath-Moab, that is to say the sons of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred andtwelve;
7 בְּנֵי עֵילָם אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה׃ ס	7 sons of Elam, one thousand two hundred and fifty-four;
8 בְּנֵי זַתּוּא תְּשַׁע מֵאֹות וְאַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה׃ ס	8 sons of Zattu, nine hundred and forty-five;
9 בְּנֵי זַכָּי שְׁבַע מֵאֹות וְשִׁשִּׁים׃ ס	9 sons of Zaccai, seven hundred and sixty;
10 בְּנֵי בָנִי שֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	10 sons of Bani, six hundred and forty-two;
11 בְּנֵי בֵבָי שֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	11 sons of Bebai, six hundred and twenty-three;
12 בְּנֵי עַזְגָּד אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	12 sons of Azgad, one thousand two hundred and twenty-two;
13 בְּנֵי אֲדֹנִיקָם שֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות שִׁשִּׁים וְשִׁשָּׁה׃ ס	13 sons of Adonikam, six hundred and sixty-six;
14 בְּנֵי בִגְוָי אַלְפַּיִם חֲמִשִּׁים וְשִׁשָּׁה׃ ס	14 sons of Bigvai, two thousand and fifty-six;
15 בְּנֵי עָדִין אַרְבַּע מֵאֹות חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה׃ ס	15 sons of Adin, four hundred and fifty-four;
16 בְּנֵי־אָטֵר לִיחִזְקִיָּה תִּשְׁעִים וּשְׁמֹנָה׃ ס	16 sons of Ater, that is to say of Hezekiah, ninety-eight;
17 בְּנֵי בֵצָי שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	17 sons of Bezai, three hundred and twenty-three;
18 בְּנֵי יֹורָה מֵאָה וּשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר׃ ס	18 sons of Jorah, one hundred and twelve;
19 בְּנֵי חָשֻׁם מָאתַיִם עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	19 sons of Hashum, two hundred and twenty-three;
20 בְּנֵי גִבָּר תִּשְׁעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה׃ ס	20 sons of Gibbar, ninety-five;
21 בְּנֵי בֵית־לָחֶם מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	21 sons of Bethlehem, one hundred and twenty-three;
22 אַנְשֵׁי נְטֹפָה חֲמִשִּׁים וְשִׁשָּׁה	22 men of Netophah, fifty-six;
23 אַנְשֵׁי עֲנָתֹות מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמֹנָה׃ ס	23 men of Anathoth, one hundred and twenty-eight;
24 בְּנֵי עַזְמָוֶת אַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	24 sons of Azmaveth, forty-two;
25 בְּנֵי קִרְיַת עָרִים כְּפִירָה וּבְאֵרֹות שְׁבַע מֵאֹות וְאַרְבָּעִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	25 sons of Kiriath-Jearim, Chephirah and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty-three;
26 בְּנֵי הָרָמָה וָגָבַע שֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות עֶשְׂרִים וְאֶחָד׃ ס	26 sons of Ramah and Geba, six hundred and twenty-one;
27 אַנְשֵׁי מִכְמָס מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	27 men of Michmas, one hundred and twenty-two;
28 אַנְשֵׁי בֵית־אֵל וְהָעָי מָאתַיִם עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	28 men of Bethel and Ai, two hundred and twenty-three;
29 בְּנֵי נְבֹו חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	29 sons of Nebo, fifty-two;
30 בְּנֵי מַגְבִּישׁ מֵאָה חֲמִשִּׁים וְשִׁשָּׁה׃ ס	30 of Magbish, one hundred and fifty-six;
31 בְּנֵי עֵילָם אַחֵר אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם חֲמִשִּׁים וְאַרְבָּעָה׃ ס	31 sons of the other Elam, one thousand two hundred and fifty-four;
32 בְּנֵי חָרִם שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות וְעֶשְׂרִים׃ ס	32 sons of Harim, three hundred and twenty;
33 בְּנֵי־לֹד חָדִיד וְאֹונֹו שְׁבַע מֵאֹות עֶשְׂרִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה׃ ס	33 sons of Lod, Hadid and Ono, seven hundred and twenty-five;
34 בְּנֵי יְרֵחֹו שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות אַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה׃ ס	34 sons of Jericho, three hundred and forty-five;
35 בְּנֵי סְנָאָה שְׁלֹשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וְשֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות וּשְׁלֹשִׁים׃ ס	35 sons of Senaah, three thousand six hundred and thirty.
36 הַכֹּהֲנִים בְּנֵי יְדַעְיָה לְבֵית יֵשׁוּעַ תְּשַׁע מֵאֹות שִׁבְעִים וּשְׁלֹשָׁה׃ ס	36 The priests: sons of Jedaiah, of the House of Jeshua, nine hundred and seventy-three;
37 בְּנֵי אִמֵּר אֶלֶף חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	37 sons of Immer, one thousand and fifty-two;
38 בְּנֵי פַשְׁחוּר אֶלֶף מָאתַיִם אַרְבָּעִים וְשִׁבְעָה׃ ס	38 sons of Pashhur, one thousand two hundred and forty-seven;
39 בְּנֵי חָרִם אֶלֶף וְשִׁבְעָה עָשָׂר׃ ס	39 sons of Harim, one thousand and seventeen.
40 הַלְוִיִּם בְּנֵי־יֵשׁוּעַ וְקַדְמִיאֵל לִבְנֵי הֹודַוְיָה שִׁבְעִים וְאַרְבָּעָה׃ ס	40 The Levites: sons of Jeshua and Kadmiel, of the line of Hodaviah, seventy-four.
41 הַמְשֹׁרְרִים בְּנֵי אָסָף מֵאָה עֶשְׂרִים וּשְׁמֹנָה׃ פ	41 The singers: sons of Asaph, one hundred and twenty-eight.
42 בְּנֵי הַשֹּׁעֲרִים בְּנֵי־שַׁלּוּם בְּנֵי־אָטֵר בְּנֵי־טַלְמֹון בְּנֵי־עַקּוּב בְּנֵי חֲטִיטָא בְּנֵי שֹׁבָי הַכֹּל מֵאָה שְׁלֹשִׁים וְתִשְׁעָה׃ פ	42 The sons of the gatekeepers: sons of Shal um, sons of Ater, sons of Talmon, sons of Akkub, sons ofHatita, sons of Shobai: in al , one hundred and thirty-nine.
43 הַנְּתִינִים בְּנֵי־צִיחָא בְנֵי־חֲשׂוּפָא בְּנֵי טַבָּעֹות	43 The temple slaves: sons of Ziha, sons of Hasupha, sons of Tabbaoth,
44 בְּנֵי־קֵרֹס בְּנֵי־סִיעֲהָא בְּנֵי פָדֹון	44 sons of Keros, sons of Siaha, sons of Padon,
45 בְּנֵי־לְבָנָה בְנֵי־חֲגָבָה בְּנֵי עַקּוּב	45 sons of Lebanah, sons of Hagabah, sons of Akkub,
46 בְּנֵי־חָגָב בְּנֵי־ [שַׁמְלַי כ] (שַׁלְמַי ק) בְּנֵי חָנָן	46 sons of Hagab, sons of Shamlai, sons of Hanan,
47 בְּנֵי־גִדֵּל בְּנֵי־גַחַר בְּנֵי רְאָיָה	47 sons of Giddel, sons of Gahar, sons of Reaiah,
48 בְּנֵי־רְצִין בְּנֵי־נְקֹודָא בְּנֵי גַזָּם	48 sons of Rezin, sons of Nekoda, sons of Gazzam,
49 בְּנֵי־עֻזָּא בְנֵי־פָסֵחַ בְּנֵי בֵסָי	49 sons of Uzza, sons of Paseah, sons of Besai,
50 בְּנֵי־אַסְנָה בְנֵי־ [מְעִינִים כ] (מְעוּנִים ק) בְּנֵי [נְפִיסִים כ] (נְפוּסִים׃ ק)	50 sons of Asnah, sons of the Meunites, sons of the Nephisites,
51 בְּנֵי־בַקְבּוּק בְּנֵי־חֲקוּפָא בְּנֵי חַרְחוּר	51 sons of Bakbuk, sons of Hakupha, sons of Harhur,
52 בְּנֵי־בַצְלוּת בְּנֵי־מְחִידָא בְּנֵי חַרְשָׁא	52 sons of Bazluth, sons of Mehida, sons of Harsha,
53 בְּנֵי־בַרְקֹוס בְּנֵי־סִיסְרָא בְּנֵי־תָמַח	53 sons of Barkos, sons of Sisera, sons of Temah,
54 בְּנֵי נְצִיחַ בְּנֵי חֲטִיפָא	54 sons of Neziah, sons of Hatipha.
55 בְּנֵי עַבְדֵי שְׁלֹמֹה בְּנֵי־סֹטַי בְּנֵי־הַסֹּפֶרֶת בְּנֵי פְרוּדָא	55 The sons of Solomon's slaves: sons of Sotai, sons of Hassophereth, sons of Peruda,
56 בְּנֵי־יַעְלָה בְנֵי־דַרְקֹון בְּנֵי גִדֵּל	56 sons of Jaalah, sons of Darkon, sons of Giddel,
57 בְּנֵי שְׁפַטְיָה בְנֵי־חַטִּיל בְּנֵי פֹּכֶרֶת הַצְּבָיִים בְּנֵי אָמִי	57 sons of Shephatiah, sons of Hattil, sons of Pochereth-ha-Zebaim, sons of Ami.
58 כָּל־הַנְּתִינִים וּבְנֵי עַבְדֵי שְׁלֹמֹה שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות תִּשְׁעִים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	58 The total of the temple slaves and the sons of Solomon's slaves: three hundred and ninety-two.
59 וְאֵלֶּה הָעֹלִים מִתֵּל מֶלַח תֵּל חַרְשָׁא כְּרוּב אַדָּן אִמֵּר וְלֹא יָכְלוּ לְהַגִּיד בֵּית־אֲבֹותָם וְזַרְעָם אִם מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל הֵם	59 The following, who came from Tel-Melah, Tel-Harsha, Cherub, Addan and Immer, could not prove thattheir families and ancestry were of Israelite origin:
60 בְּנֵי־דְלָיָה בְנֵי־טֹובִיָּה בְּנֵי נְקֹודָא שֵׁשׁ מֵאֹות חֲמִשִּׁים וּשְׁנָיִם׃ ס	60 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda: six hundred and fifty-two.
61 וּמִבְּנֵי הַכֹּהֲנִים בְּנֵי חֳבַיָּה בְּנֵי הַקֹּוץ בְּנֵי בַרְזִלַּי אֲשֶׁר לָקַח מִבְּנֹות בַּרְזִלַּי הַגִּלְעָדִי אִשָּׁה וַיִּקָּרֵא עַל־שְׁמָם	61 And among the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzil ai --who had married one of the daughters of Barzil ai the Gileadite, whose name he adopted.
62 אֵלֶּה בִּקְשׁוּ כְתָבָם הַמִּתְיַחְשִׂים וְלֹא נִמְצָאוּ וַיְגֹאֲלוּ מִן־הַכְּהֻנָּה	62 These had looked for their entries in the official genealogies but were not to be found there, and werehence disqualified from the priesthood.
63 וַיֹּאמֶר הַתִּרְשָׁתָא לָהֶם אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יֹאכְלוּ מִקֹּדֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים עַד עֲמֹד כֹּהֵן לְאוּרִים וּלְתֻמִּים	63 Consequently, His Excellency forbade them to eat any of the consecrated food until a priest appearedwho could consult urim and thummim.
64 כָּל־הַקָּהָל כְּאֶחָד אַרְבַּע רִבֹּוא אַלְפַּיִם שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵאֹות שִׁשִּׁים	64 The whole assembly numbered forty-two thousand, three hundred and sixty people,
65 מִלְּבַד עַבְדֵיהֶם וְאַמְהֹתֵיהֶם אֵלֶּה שִׁבְעַת אֲלָפִים שְׁלֹשׁ מֵאֹות שְׁלֹשִׁים וְשִׁבְעָה וְלָהֶם מְשֹׁרְרִים וּמְשֹׁרְרֹות מָאתָיִם	65 not counting their male and female slaves to the number of seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven. They also had two hundred male and female singers.
66 סוּסֵיהֶם שְׁבַע מֵאֹות שְׁלֹשִׁים וְשִׁשָּׁה פִּרְדֵיהֶם מָאתַיִם אַרְבָּעִים וַחֲמִשָּׁה	66 Their horses numbered seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five,
67 גְּמַלֵּיהֶם אַרְבַּע מֵאֹות שְׁלֹשִׁים וַחֲמִשָּׁה חֲמֹרִים שֵׁשֶׁת אֲלָפִים שְׁבַע מֵאֹות וְעֶשְׂרִים׃ פ	67 their camels four hundred and thirty-five and their donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 וּמֵרָאשֵׁי הָאָבֹות בְּבֹואָם לְבֵית יְהוָה אֲשֶׁר בִּירוּשָׁלִָם הִתְנַדְּבוּ לְבֵית הָאֱלֹהִים לְהַעֲמִידֹו עַל־מְכֹונֹו	68 When they arrived at the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem, a certain number of heads of families madevoluntary offerings for the Temple of God, for its rebuilding on its site.
69 כְּכֹחָם נָתְנוּ לְאֹוצַר הַמְּלָאכָה זָהָב דַּרְכְּמֹונִים שֵׁשׁ־רִבֹּאות וָאֶלֶף ס וְכֶסֶף מָנִים חֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִים וְכָתְנֹת כֹּהֲנִים מֵאָה׃ ס	69 In accordance with their means they gave sixty-one thousand gold drachmas, five thousand silverminas and one hundred priestly robes to the sacred treasury.
70 וַיֵּשְׁבוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים וְהַלְוִיִּם וּמִן־הָעָם וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִים וְהַשֹּׁועֲרִים וְהַנְּתִינִים בְּעָרֵיהֶם וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעָרֵיהֶם׃ ס	70 The priests, the Levites and some of the people settled in Jerusalem; the singers, the gatekeepers andthe temple slaves in their appropriate towns; and al the other Israelites in their own towns.
